At heart, DWTS always had some "old-fashionedness" to it. A big part of that was Tom. He made the hosting job look effortless. When they let him go, he took all the warmth with him.

On Bob Saget’s podcast, Tom Bergeron says he had a feeling that he was getting fired and that the show had become an unpleasant work environment for him in recent years:

Such a shame GL didn’t want to let him tell a story for Roger about having ALS.  I think that would her been particularly powerful for Roger, and poignant and important for the audience and Zaslow.

Still pissed at Mary Alice Dwyer Dobbin about that

Indeed. Disgraceful. I only wish social media existed back then so that MADD could have been properly roasted.

    More to add to FOJ

Jason Thompson from GH to Y&R.  He specifically said in a 2016 interview that JFP brought him to Y&R.

Hunter King from Hollywood Heights to Y&R.  But I don't know if she'd consider herself a "friend" of Jill.   Jill brought her over to Y&R but I wouldn't say Hunter "followed" Jill. Hunter was  a teen when she got hired at Y&R.  So maybe she simply took a job she was offered.

Michael E. Knight from AMC to Y&R as a Friend of Chuck Pratt (and Jill).
This 2015 interview in which MEK praises Pratt is mind-boggling:

When Mal Young took over at Y&R, MEK was out at Y&R.

Had JT, but added HHK, thanks!

  4. Candiace needs a turning point, or she needs to go. It’s too much and gets worse and worse with each passing season. It can’t help but be addressed this year, without Monique as a distraction. Her behavior on the last WWHL wasn’t promising.

On the bus to the restaurant, Candiace and Mia appeared to be chatting pleasantly, but at the restaurant, Candiace was back to throwing gratuitous shots.

I think Family Ties, ALF and The Hogan Family were the only shows I was allowed to stay up "late" for. I miss the 1980s!!!!

I could stay up for Mama’s Family. 😂

    Yes!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Totally. That little “Sit, Ubu, sit! Good dog.” takes me right back to childhood. Some people in the replies also mentioned the opening to “M*A*S*H,” which came on at 10 p.m. weeknights in syndication when I was growing up.
