Yep. I feel like most of the other celebs who are speaking out for the victims and against Harvey are doing so only because they have long relished the opportunity to "get" him but have been afraid of how that might affect their careers.

The media probably isn't talking about the Somalian terrorist attack or the soldiers killed in Niger, because they're much too distracted by the endless (and needless) debate about whether we should stand for the National Anthem and pledge of allegiance.

ICAM, Cat. No one who was complicit in this deserves "golden parachutes." They, along with Harvey, deserve nothing less than criminal prosecution. Moreover, whatever monies they all have should be paid to their victims, or at the very least, donated to non-profit organizations that promote awareness of children's and women's issues. I'm sure others will disagree, but it's just how I feel at the moment. In theory, Emma Thompson's suggestion that we need more women in positions of power within the film industry sounds wise. However, who's to say that some women haven't or wouldn't abuse THEIR power by sexually harassing men or even other women? I just think we need to stop keeping this [!@#$%^&*] under the rug whenever it happens. As the saying goes, "If you see something, say something;" and the rest of us need to rewire our brains so that we don't automatically blame the victims, but instead support them and see to it that the proper authorities prosecute the offenders to the fullest extent of the laws.

Americans LOVE a good redemption story, so I don't know if it's safe to say just yet whether Harvey's reputation or career is kaput. If he shows enough contrition, then he'll back in Hollywood. Or he'll just enter politics.

It just unnerves the hell out of me to read the extent of Harvey Weinstein's damage on so many women. I mean, this [!@#$%^&*] is the reason why actors such as Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland ended up as drugged-up emotional and physical wrecks.

Frankly, if anything about TKAM were to make them uncomfortable, it would be the suggestion that even an African-American who has been accused of raping a white woman is innocent until proven guilty.

And I hope they follow through with their threats. Trump is sabotaging the ACA for one reason and one reason only: to make "that uppity n****r" Obama look like a total failure as president. He couldn't get Congress to pass a repeal/replace bill with his Dollar Tree mafioso tactics, so he's just gonna cut off the life support to Obamacare instead. What a jackhole.

Probably because his ideas for the DALLAS revival were way better than hers. (I still love his idea -- at least, I think it was his idea -- to have had John Ross be the 'Bobby' and Christopher the 'J.R.', rather than the other way around.)

Exactly. And I think it's all because Obama roasted Trump at the WH Correspondents' Dinner back in 2011. Trump didn't like the HNIC making him look like the buffoon that he is; and now, we all have to suffer the consequences of bruising his fragile-as-hell ego.

ICYMI: Trump Cuts Obamacare Subsidy Payments Also: More [!@#$%^&*] Trump is Doing to Obamacare Trump is asking federal agencies to look for ways to expand the use of association health plans, groups of small businesses that pool together to buy health insurance, and to broaden the definition of short-term insurance, which is exempt from the Affordable Care Act’s rules, administration officials said. IOW: TrumpCo. aims to create an alternative healthcare market, with "cheaper plans" and "skimpier benefits" for younger and healthier people, leaving others stranded in the ACA with higher premiums. And I'm not even gonna TALK about what he threatened to do to Puerto Rico. (Needless to say, if P.R. were more stable right now, I'd advise them to fight for independence.)

I don't know whether we're allowed to link to TMZ here, so I'll just summarize: 1. Cops responded to calls from Harv's 22-year-old daughter, Remy, who claimed her father was "suicidal and depressed." (Who wouldn't be after your career has flamed out in such public fashion?) The two had had an altercation at her house, where (I guess) he was holed up in the wake of the allegations. Apparently, father and daughter took their argument outside. (Classy.) Harv accused Remy of making things worse for him. (How?? And who da [!@#$%^&*] CARES how bad it is for him???) He attempted to flag down a passing motorist and leave. (I can only imagine what must've been going through the driver's mind.) However, Remy convinced her dad to come back inside. ("Because, my God, Dad, hasn't the public had enough of your [!@#$%^&*] by now?") By the time the cops had arrived, Remy said he was gone, claiming he had made no suicidal threats and that it was all just a "family dispute." (Which will be covered, in detail, next season on "Dr. Phil.") 2. Harv was supposed to fly to Switzerland for treatment for his "sexual addiction issues." However, plans have changed. Instead, he'll seek treatment in Arizona. (Where Bernadine from "Waiting to Exhale" can burn his [!@#$%^&*] in proper fashion.) Before he left, however, he played to the paparazzi one last time. ("Interestingly," says TMZ, "he was at Remy's house," which he was supposed to have left after the incident described in item #1.) He admitted he was not okay and begged for a second chance. ("I gotta get help, guys," were his exact words. No [!@#$%^&*], Harv.) Then...well, to quote TMZ: As Weinstein bolted for the airport, he told photogs he was "not like those f**king pricks who treat you like s**t." Watch ... sure sounds like he's referring to Hollywood's A-list, many of whom have condemned him over the last 48 hours. Grudge much? I don't know about vous, but I smell a tell-all book in everyone's future.

Does Luther Strange's defeat in Alabama prove that Trump's "cult of personality" is broken? I don't think so. If anything, the fact that Strange lost to Roy Moore -- someone, perhaps, more Trumpian than Trump -- proves that the cult has become something even TrumpCo. can no longer control. Meanwhile, having Trump call first strike on North Korea would be almost worth it JUST to see Kelly and Mattis wrestle him to the ground like some damn movie, lol.

Should we ask the mods to merge the two threads? Alrighty then. Mods, would you please? I'll say this much and then move on: To the right-wingers out there who, at the moment, are expressing outrage, disdain and ESPECIALLY moral superiority over this turn of events, would you please have not just a seat, but the whole damn sofa? Because, to be perfect and frank, you forfeited your right to say boo about Weinstein and his ilk the moment you heard about and/or saw the evidence that cast you-know-who as a p***y-grabbing sexual predator and then said, "Nah, I'd still like him to be my president." kthanxbye

And again, we have ourselves only to blame. I truly believe this is all our reckoning for not appreciating civility and restraint in leadership when we had it. I mean, it no longer matters to me what Obama did or didn't do for "his people" or any people while in office. The fact remains that at no time during his administration were we ever on the brink of total disaster as we are right now. Mama Khan was right: sometimes, we get the leader(s) we deserve.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
"Best" part of all, though, was that even GL itself couldn't decide WHEN the events leading up to Maryanne's death had occurred. Supposedly, she died in 1977 -- at a time, I should add, when neither the Lewises nor the Coopers were visible, and when Alan and Ed WERE visible and heavily involved in story -- but different characters kept saying it happened over 30 years ago. (Ellen Weston was HW from 2003-04. So, you do the math.) Moreover, even though the mess allegedly occurred in the late '70's, flashbacks to the night in question, as well as some weird sequence involving Marah, Marina, Michelle and their respective love interests, made it seem as if the murder had, in fact, occurred back in the '20's. And then there were the whispers that Carrie Nye was hired not to play Maryanne's sister, but Maryanne herself, back from the dead and out for revenge. Which might sound awesome, except, at age 67, she was seven years older than Peter Simon, the oldest of the five actors at the center of the story, and looked even older than that. Honestly, it would have been more believable just to resurrect Susan Piper. And I'd believe it. Apparently, Conboy and Weston go way back -- back, at least, to when he hired her to play Suzanne Lynch on Y&R -- so it would not surprise me to hear that the two cooked up the initial idea for MAC.
