HBO: Game of Thrones
And I think this show may have made me realize I'm dyslexic--I've had a bad habit of not only spelling it but calling it outloud, Game of Thorns for some reason (in fact I think for the first few weeks I read about it being made I thought it was called Game of Thorns).

HBO: Game of Thrones
Enjoyed it too. I admit I did have a problem I expected which was trying to keep track and learn names, etc--finally I realized that as I keep watching I'm sure I'll start to learn them without thinking so hard (however it didn't help that I found both the actors playing the bastard brother and the main older brother to look really similar but perhaps that was on purpose). Some rushed stuff, but a lot to stuff into one episode and largely paced well--and absolutely gorgeous look and score.

All My Children Tribute Thread
And of course it led to the introduction of the Merricks and that story. I know many--or at least some--long time fans do see the Behr era as the start of the fall, but I just can't. That's when I got hooked (with the Janet in a well story), the show was nearly always second in the ratings and it had a lot of classic stuff. I wonder if they had to push hard for the story at all, in some ways it was like James Reilly was inspired by it to do similar stories but even more campy and even more long...

The Wendy Williams Thread
I admit, one reason I have trouble taking her seriously is she looks EXACTLY like a friend of mine when he perfroms as a drag queen (somethign that I think annoys him now as when he started ten years back or so, no one in Canada, anyway, really had any idea who Wendy was).

The Wendy Williams Thread
I got the impression people who liked Ask Wendy like it just for that reason. My sister and I watched her show last Summer (it has since been moved to some time I'm never home) and that was always the highlight cuz it was, yes, SUCH crap advice. I really think she's kinda a mean spirited lady. But, I admit, can be entertaining...

It's great after all these years to be able to put faces to names. How random that the mayor gave soap stars a party though...

Yes--and her dancing used to be one area I think she was genuinely very strong in. This video comparison says it all: http://www.popeater.com/2011/04/11/britney-spears-dancing/?ncid=webmail

HBO: Game of Thrones
Growing up till I was 14 or so I read pretty much only fantasy, but somehow missed out on them (and I was an English major but I admit to reading very little fantasy now). Great New York Times article on the piece this Sunday, but it won't show up online without a subscription...

HBO: Game of Thrones
(I've never been able to read Tolkien--my dad claims to read the trilogy every year, and my twin sis who is NOT a reader loves them, but I just can't)

HBO: Game of Thrones
Everyone has though. It annoys the people doing the show as well--but maybe they feel it will get audience?

HBO: Game of Thrones
The first 15 mins impressed me. The show LOOKS gorgeous, and my two friends who rant on about how brilliant the books are (and insist that even though I don't like Lord of the Rings, I'll love this) were impressed with the adaptation, so far. I'm def sold for a few episodes.

The Lady Gaga Thread
Though things are so diff now that Billboard counts downloads--the US market has never had a big retail single market when they were physical (unlike the UK or Japan) and it relied solely on radio. I'm not just being defensive cuz I despise Katy lol, but I think it's hard to fairly compare between the eras.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
It's ironic that Greece gave up on Loving with 1989--as around 91 or 92 I think it started to find its identity again (and remained a huge hit in South Africa at any rate I know for a fact, my friend says the paper would often report on key stories). Agreed.

dc I admit I'm biased because Trucker was one of my first soap crushes. You're right it prob was a bit too generic and safe, even during times it had strong writing (after the first year which wasn't safe--until the final year of course which wasn't either).

Agnes always owned Loving personally so did have some say--but by the 80s it seems she had next to no say at OLTL... (one reason she offered to move Carla and her mom to Loving) Agnes seemed to love the beauty shot--she talks about how important she feels it is to give each episode closure in All Her Children and Loving used them even a bit longer than AMC (I'm pretty sure...)
