  1. This was uploaded yesterday--not sure if it's been linked to in the past or not (Catlins are a blind item for me...)
  2. It certainly isn't helping this hackneyed story. There would be so many fresh ways to play a story like this with new twists--like that she's part of a poly couple, etc. But they aren't playing any of them.
  3. Well so much for a realistic soap (I know, that was never the goal..) I liked the IDEA that they would have Chelsea deal with her daydreams while imprissoned, but wish that was also seen on screen. I HATE these storylines and this is basically why I gave up on Bradley Bell. And I think it's counter productive with young people. Haven't they all seen Misery? (Which other soaps have imitated, MUCH better.)
  4. Yeah, that's really frustrating...
  5. I assume some of that went to debts?? Though obviously not the debts she's getting a phone call for (if they want her to give at least $10000 right now) and... yeah I don't get it.
  6. Yeah, at this point I don't think there's any point in recasting Thomas (they should have months ago of course)--the damage is done and I'd just get rid of the character.
  7. Agreed with your first point, although to be fair... We *do* only have the current soaps for comparison, so... And yes, it's a very weatherman delivery. Sexy.
  8. Seriously like every line of dialogue out of his mouth during the love scenes would have had me laughing but not remotely turned on. I don't blame Kat for just waiting for it to end.
  9. Both yesterday and today I have to say, between the terrible acting/line delivery and the terrible dialogue ("There are positions we could try...") Thomas, despite his conventionally hot looks, comes off as the complete opposite of sexy.
  10. LOL That would be kinda great if she did get her Oscar for an animated short... And I agree--we get it, she's incredible, has had an incredible career--I think it actually creates too many problems (improbabilities) when they feel the need to be so specific about these awards.
  11. True but knowing how this show portrays the character, if they ever get specific I can guarantee it will be for an acting Oscar and not just producing a documentary or even doing a new song for a film
  12. If that's the case, then the actors and director sure bumbled showing any of that subtext on screen!
  13. Right except I thought they DID imply she acted in movies in the 70s (kinda the Diana Ross route)
  14. It makes sense, since she's an EGOT winner apparently (have we heard anything about her movie work really?) so someone would want to keep track of her papers etc. Not an exciting episode but a relatively well written one I thought with, yeah scenes that took a slightly longer time to breathe. Why at this point ANYONE would stay interested in Ashley is beyond me. Her freakout on Andre was as WTF as hers on Derek at the restaurant the other week.
  15. HA one of the pitfalls of soap opera crossovers
  16. I know they've barely interacted, but back during Hayley's wedding wasn't it established Caroline was one of her only friends? Why today does she act shocked that she might want to help plan a party with her?
  17. On good days I can get behind that-- Certainly I haven't stuck with a daily US network soap for even more than a couple of months without missing an episode since... well the last days of AMC and OLTL, which says something even if I've dipped in and out of the other ones.
  18. AMC was on CBC relatively early on in the 1970s (Edge of Night was also aired here on CBC at the time at least in 1977 as my mom watched it when she was on maternity leave with my older bro.) I thought at least one full colour 1977 AMC episode had been aired on a SoapNet marathon but right now off the top of my head the earliest two they have reaired are Tom and Erica's wedding from Fall 1978 and shortly afterwards Tom discovering that Erica is on the pill.
  19. OK not a song I even know but... yeah sounds like a terrible fit.
  20. Wait wha? As a huge Cook fan (to no one's surprise) what song??
  21. Thanks! Love reading these thoughts. And yes, for all the acclaim OLTL at the time got for social relevancy, I think you're spot on about it being sexually charged (something I'm sure Gottlieb played a part in) I mean love it or hate it, she's spelling that out with the new opening and what a different vibe it gives to the previous one.
  22. Malone (and I guess Griffith but knowing his novels, this seems to start with Malone) did love the Gothic. Of course they went overboard on that with their second run on the soap (and Malone's solo AW brief run) though rumour is those stories were taken from the planned (with a filmed pilot) Fox late night supernatural soap Malone/Griffith/Gottlieb were doing, 13 Bourbon St. I should revisit this era of OLTL. I was 12-14 during that run but absolutely was obsessed with it.
  23. Well said. I may be missing some plot details (I had to rush through some of the past few weeks) but I don't even get why Leslie is sticking around now. Does she honestly think she has a chance with Ted? Does she think she can get more money? Does she just spend her time watching her stories and talking back to them, talking in the mirror, looking fabulous, and then going out to places she knows people who hate her will be just to rub it in their faces? She got her revenge, and I think it's true that if we took a realistic approach to this story the revenge would not be satisfying, but... Wouldn't it make more sense to at least for a while cut her loses (has she run through all her money?) and lay low somewhere else while people try to get evidence to arrest her....
  24. I can't see this happening, but wouldn't it be interesting (OK, odd, but interesting) if somehow Dani and Ashley teamed up to expose Hayley? Still rivals for Andre, but with a common goal (though Ashley wanting to expose Hayley because of her friendship with Bill's daughter doesn't seem like something the current incarnation of Ashley would do...)
