  1. Courtney Simon was hired in 1980 by Ralph Ellis and Eugenie Hunt to write scripts for The Doctors. Courtney wrote under the alias Kate Brooks. She may have written under another alias for another show before that. Not sure. Millee Taggart also wrote scripts for Ellis/Hunt under the alias Heather Matthews.
  2. Cathy LePard's first GH script was June 21, 2023. Dan O'Connor joined Days last June as a script writer, not a break down writer. Where has it been reported that Dan moved over to BTG?
  3. Wow. Wonderful. The Hursleys, GH creators, remained the head writers until 1973 before their daughter and son in law, the Dobsons, took over for two years. The Hursleys back story is here in this fascinating article. https://michigantoday.umich.edu/2013/07/29/a8670/
  4. This was the year it all really started to fall apart. Caso kept Packer/Backus through Doug's death then added Garin Wolf. He did drop Backus and added Richard Culliton and Garin Wolf as Baker's co heads. Then Caso left in June and Valente started to dismantle the show. He fired Garin Wolf and left Culliton and Packer write the show from July through Dec. Then he fired Packer and Collation was sole head writer until late February 96 when two of the worst writers to hit daytime were hired for 11 months (Black and Stern). Of course, Valente didn't last either. The show never recovered IMO.
  5. So sad to see cuties Paul Joynt (Brian 1) and Tim Murphy (Spenser) in those early scenes knowing they both died of AIDS related complications. Their shirtless night camping scene in the recently posted May episode is full of erotic subtext. Of course, they missed an opportunity to wow the audience by having one of them have a crush on the other. Grover's decision to have Brian go into a Young and the Restless fantasy about Stephanie when he meets her for the first time is a total gay hoot. During the camping scene he has the cutest queer boy/mother dream/nightmare. These few Grover shows are radically different that the January Corrington episodes. Clearly, Grover/Porterfield were green and didn't have command of things. Dialog was uneven at best. No wonder they didn't last long. Was it Bunim who hired Grover or had she left as well to take over ATWT and was it Fred Bartholemew as producer?
  6. Linda Grover wrote TD from April 78 to end of February 79. In the episodes I've seen she brought more psychology and character to the show and I believe one or more of her script writers may have been (or became) therapists. I believe Elizabeth Levin and David Cherrill wrote scripts during her less than one year tenure. Levin would become HW after Linda (twice) with David writing scripts. He may have been co head for Levin's first stint. John Porterfield spend some of 1992 on Norma Monty's disastrous GH writing staff. I don't think Grover did any more soaps after SFT.
  7. So far he's posted four consecutive episodes from end of May and first of June 1980. haven't watched them yet.
  8. Agree. Watching the new SFT episodes that were just posted (end of Jan 1980) some scenes are outstanding especially Stephanie's dialog with Martin, but the Cissy/Beau stuff is not good. Most of the vets had nothing substantial to do. May 1980 episodes have also just been posted but with no credit crawl at the end. Does anyone know if the Corringtons were still HW or had they left and who replaced them?
  9. Jean moved over to ATWT in Jan 1980 with the Dobsons (as did the Whites and Nancy Ford). ATWT July 1980 credits. Marland's initial writing team was Robert Dwyer and Nancy Franklin both of whom had been his script writers at GH and The Doctors (Mulcahey and Lemay also came in as script writers for Marland at some point). (he
  10. There are now 4 episodes from the final week (Tuesday through Friday). Chandler had previously posted 2 of these four episodes. The new postings are from @Mitch6225
  11. 3 new LOL episodes just uploaded to Youtube. Final week of the show.
  12. Poor Jonathan Jackson. Terrible re-intro. They don't know what to do with him.
  13. Here's the GH 5th anniversary episode! Just posted yesterday. Amazing. So well done. Loved how the Hursleys reintroduced Phil Brewer (an original character) who was returning to the series (to be played by Martin West). Love the trial scenes. On par with Edge of Night under Henry Slesar! The current entry level writers on GH should watch all of these shows and learn what daytime drama is all about.
  14. With all these wonderful new clips and episodes, I've been diving into ATWT history, particularly the writers. I'm fascinated by the 18 moth period between Jan 72 and July 73 when Irna returned and executed several wacky storylines and created one of the best characters ever, Kim Reynolds. Irna wrote the show with David Lesan. David had a long history with Irna and he along with Julian Funt were SFT head writers after the Hursleys. I just came across Lesan's papers that were donated to Uof Wyoming. The list is fascinating. Many letters between him and Irna, Orin Tovrov (creator of The Doctors) and a list of 18 months of scripts/outlines of ATWT. I guess he wrote the dialog and Irna wrote the outlines. I'd love to get my hands on his story notes from April 73 before they were fired. Wow, there's so much out there from the glory days of soaps. https://www.uwyo.edu/ahc/_files/pdffa/06148.pdf
  15. Great episode other than the Willows plot (great set though, wonder if they used it again). What were the head writers thinking (wonder if this is what got Ralph Ellis and Eugenie Hunt fired). Putting Lisa in this story. outside of Oakdale, disconnected from the entire cast. Made NO sense! But the Joyce plot was amazing, years in the making. Love Kim shading John. The actor playing dan was a bore
  16. For those of you who love GH, Feb 1 1968. Recently posted. Talk about sweeps episodes! Flawless, classic episode. Outstanding writing, directing and acting. Subsequently, Audrey loses the baby which set off a years long chain of events: Audrey is artificially inseminated then lies to Steve; they break up when she leaves to take care of Vietnam war babies; her sexless marriage to Tom Baldwin who raped her. Then Audrey lies that Tom's baby has died but she really had given the child to Mrs. Nelson who's later murdered and Audrey stands accused when the truth that the baby is alive comes out. Not to mention Audrey marrying alcoholic Jim Hobart.
  17. Cathy's name only appears when she writes a script or an outline. If she has another role i.e. co-head writer or associate head writer, she doesn't get daily credit for it.
  18. We don't know. If they are going to add more entry level writers (who get paid minimum scale) I would assume they'd get rid of Suzanne Flynn since she's been around a while. But right now, here's the GH writer roster HW Korte/Van Etten Outlines Suzanne Flynn Emily Culliton Celina Cipriaso Nigel Campbell Micah Steinberg Cathy Lepard Scripts Cathy Lepard Scott Sickles Charlotte Gibson Kate Hall Stacy Pulwar
  19. William Gavett wrote GH breakdown today. https://www.linkedin.com/in/william-gavett-19b6b2120/
  20. Robert Soderberg and Edith Sommer. Great writers. To think they went from head writers at GL from 68-73 then switched to ATWT from 73-78 (they were still writing in 9/1978). Ironically, the Dobsons made the same switch from GL (where they served for five years) to ATWT. Soderberg wrote scripts for the Dobsons on GL in 1979 before they moved to ATWT in Jan 1980. He also served as ATWT story consultant in Spring 1984 (not to mention his stints as co-HW on AW). Edith didn't work in soaps after 1978 and died in 91. Wonder why.
  21. WOW AND, if anyone on here can get to NY Public Library: Kim Hunter donated a bunch of scripts and notes from her career. May include 7 Edge episodes. https://archives.nypl.org/the/21326
  22. I would love to get my hands on SFT scripts by Henry Slesar and also know the exact time period and length of his tenure. I believe it was six months and he may have taken over from Robert J. Shaw. Also, whether or not he had any script writers helping him. NY Public Library has the following scripts: https://archives.nypl.org/the/22743 The scripts, dating from 1975 to 1989, number over one hundred and are from three television soap operas: All My Children, One Life To Live, and Search For Tomorrow. The All My Children scripts mostly date from 1989, while the other two sets date primarily from 1979 to 1980. Eighty-two of scripts are from One Life To Live, 33 from Search For Tomorrow, and 16 from All My Children. The runs of scripts within date ranges are not comprehensive. Also, longtime script writer, Jean Rouverol, donated tons of scripts to a Wyoming arts institution as follows. The description of her is interesting. It mentions that she was at one point co-head writer of GL. She also donated two boxes of SFT 1974-75 scripts. I didn't realize she had been a SFT script writer. I believe Ann Marcus was head writer during that time. https://archiveswest.orbiscascade.org/ark:80444/xv536035 Container(s) Description Dates Box 1-19 As the World Turns 1980-1981 52-54 As the World Turns 1979-1982 45-49 Bright Promise 1970-1972 58 Capitol 1984 20-44 Guiding Light 1975-1980 55-57 Guiding Light 1976-1979 50-51 Search for Tomorrow 1974-1975 Also! Archives in Wisconsin from Frank/Doris Hursley/Dobsons and P&G. Also included are miscellaneous television and radio stories and personal papers from both the Hursleys and the Dobsons. Abstract: Variant scripts for several television programs produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, including soap operas, The Guiding Light (1958-1979) and As the World Turns (1956-1962, 1965, 1971, 1973-1979), as well as television shows, The Danny Thomas Show (1959-1960; previously titled Make Room for Daddy) and The Rifleman (1958-1959). Most of the scripts are mimeographed air scripts including scripts for commercials. Many are annotated to indicate timing and dialogue changes. Also included are some production records including files from 1958 to 1975 of Lucy Ferri Rittenberg of the Compton Advertising Agency, who served as production executive for The Guiding Light, and files from 1955 to 1957 of Charles Fisher, the account executive at Benton and Bowles who produced As the World Turns.
  23. I believe the Hallidays (Kylie and Chance) were created by Henry Slesar during his short run as HW.
  24. Reva's portrait story was under Lloyd Gold/Chris Dunn as head writers but we don't know if they hatched it or a CBS exec. The clone story was under Brown/Estensen but revealed in articles at the time that it was conceived by CBS exec Wendy Fischman.
