Right. Look at who they brought back for Victor’s funeral. Jen Lilley? LMAO! They only brought Rachel Melvin back because Victoria Konefal was unavailable. Plus they can only have twelve characters maximum per episode. I think they’ll use Doug’s death as an opportunity to reunite Bo and Hope. Always remember that we were cheated out of a goodbye between Doug and Hope because of Alarr. A more realistic set of returns would be Hope, Bo, Shawn, Ciara, Eli, Lani, Jennifer, Jack, and ideally Rick Hearst as Scotty. I’d love it if they brought Wesley Eure back as Mike because he was close to the Hayses in real life. They aren’t going to prioritize long-ago characters like Dave or Liz over Doug’s actual family connections.

Don’t bring him back unless he’s playing Tad.

Julie can stick around and they can still do the ornaments. Just shift the focus to Marlena’s family who we have watched for years and not random nobodies with the Horton name slapped on them. Y&R successfully transitioned away from their core families. There’s no reason for Days to hold on to the Hortons. They haven’t played a significant role in years. Marlena and her family, on the other hand, have been driving story for almost fifty years. You’d rather have a nothing character like Spencer or Scotty than allow Marlena’s family to take their rightful place at the centre of the show, a position that has been well-earned. All because you can’t accept that Marlena is more popular than all of the Hortons combined.

Some people are clearly jealous of Marlena’s popularity, her accomplishments, and her connections. 😅

I’d love to see Marlena retire instead of wasting Deidre’s guarantees on characters like Alex. It’s time.

Who do you think should be brought back for Doug’s memorial? I’m hoping for Rick Hearst as Scotty. Eli and his half brother have never met, at least not onscreen. What flashbacks are you hoping for? I’d love to see the scene where Doug sees “Gina” for the first time at Tom’s funeral.

I agree with most of this. In the 90s JER revived the Hortons by focusing on Jennifer and Hope and Lucas and their families. If any Hortons return, it should be Jennifer (Missy only), Jack, JJ, Hope, Bo, Shawn (recast), Claire (recast), Will, Sonny, Arianna, Sydney, Allie, Henry, Eli, Lani, Jules, Carver, Scotty, and Ciara (recast). Maybe Jeremy. But not Mike. I hate Mike. I would gladly trade Linsey Godfrey for Lisa Trusel (Melissa should be Gwen’s bio mom).

I constantly remind people that Marlena has a large family consisting of Carrie, Austin, Noah, Sami, Will, Sonny, Arianna, Johnny, Chanel, Allie, Henry, Sydney, Eric, Sloan, Jude, Brady, Tate, Rachel, Belle, Shawn, Claire, and Paul. The issue is that Johnny is not allowed to interact with his other family members outside of the DiMeras. This is an Alarr thing as he hated that Marlena has such a large family and didn’t think it was “fair” that she has so many relations. Note that Carrie was not allowed to interact with John and Marlena in 2019 beyond a hug. For years the writers had Brady treating Marlena like she was a woman who married his father when he was a grownup rather than the woman who raised him. This is why I want the Jarlena family at the centre of the show.

Johnny is also a Banks, Brady, and Evans. Not sure why his DiMera branch somehow supersedes the others. That’s not how families work.

I’d rather watch the characters we’ve watched grow up on the show than add random, nobody characters who just happen to have the same last name. The Hortons are a relic of the past. Keep Julie and the set. Shift the familial focus to where it belongs: Marlena, the Queen of Days.

I like Wayne but I cannot stand Roman! That said, I would still take Wayne back in the role…lol I just cannot buy that Marlena would ever be interested in—-let alone marry and reproduce with—-Josh Taylor’s Roman. She outclasses him in every way.

Could someone please refresh my memory about the Gina storyline from 1994-95? I can’t remember, was there ever a DNA test conducted when Gina arrived in Salem to prove whether she was Hope or not? I know they eventually used fingerprints to prove her identity but I cannot recall if they tried DNA testing and maybe Stefano tampered with the results.

I especially enjoyed the Jennifer and Bill flashback with the “real” Bill.

The two main actors to play Bill had been dead for years. The character had appeared on only one occasion in the past thirty years. I see no issue with killing him off. Killing off Laura was unnecessary but could easily be undone. I’d love a Melaswen 2.0 story where Laura, Abby, Anjelica, Lawrence, and a few others turn out to be alive.

Comic relief characters like Eileen Davidson’s Susan and Sister Mary Moira, Jack Deveraux, Vivian and Ivan, Bonnie Kiriakis, Dr. Rolf and Bart, and Andrea Hall’s Hattie.

Deidre being the star of the show is not an opinion, it’s an objective fact. Julie was off the show for more years than she was on it. With the exception of elderly viewers, Julie isn’t important to the larger audience in 2024. She spent 20+ years not even living in Salem. Marlena has appeared in more episodes than any other character including the Hortons. She’s been pivotal to the show for nearly fifty years. It’s her family that the show should be focusing on and it’s a big one. I liked Deborah a lot too. I can’t see her Kate being turned into a villain like Lauren’s. Her Kate also wouldn’t have become the town welcoming mat!
