  1. I don't know if she specifically wanted it for Emmy bait..though she did want to do a "twin" story..and since the dummies in daytime automatically rave over a double story I made that assumption. I think it would have been much better all around and make much more sense for Reva to have a split...she basically did when she was both the ugh..Queen and then as Rebecca. I think Zimmer would have done well with it..(but what would Reva's split be...a mousy librarian who didn't like attention or sex??)
  2. Sorry, this website is always so glitchey with me...anyone else? What I wanted to say was the the Clone did come to catch the trend of "outrageous" storytelling, but there were a lot of factors...Kimmer was hot to play a twin storyline and lobbied to play what would be Cassie...the first introduction of face tape for Zimmer. Even with that they knew they could not get by with Zimmer playing it, so they begin looking around for ways to get her in a twin storyline (which is Emmy bait for the idiots who vote for the Emmys) and the Clone hit all the checks...keep Kimmer happy...Reva and Josh front and center in between bringing Annie back..and ramp up attention.
  3. I'm sure they are and that usually includes calling the person you are in love with out on their..crap. But I have a feeling Deas in an introvert ( I know, you wouldnt know it from the scenery chewing) and Colin is an extrovert and they adore each other, which is really cool for actors.
  4. So tell me about your first day.....that's CRAZY! I actually find Deas (as much as I dislike Buzz and his overacting...) to be an interesting interview..he's grumpy, terse, and doesn't give a damn...if only they wrote Buzz like that. I find his relationship with Colin so interesting..they seem opposites as she is so cheeful and outgoing. I would love to hear what Deas thinks of Colin's pro-life activism but you know Alan wont touch that!
  5. Kim was also rocking that pink dress, for what, middle of the afternoon talk with her sexy uptight doctor, and Hayes was showing a nice tight bod there....I know, "Now LISTEN kiddo, quit staring at my rack!" I wouldn't say history..yea, they made googoo eyes at each other, had a kiss, jumped on a bed..and what? Now a hot storyline they would never have the..guts..to do, is to have the Larry Lau character actually seduce Luke and they actually have a scandalous affair behind Lucinda's back...I mean, I couldn't stand Luke or the actor, but they had to have eveyone fall in love with him, so make it interesting and soapy with consequnces, not a bland gay romance of two twinks that seemingly dont have sex. I mean at least Olvia and whatsherface had a soapy kind of longing thing, while one was preggers with the clueless Frank, so it had some consequences...(even though poor Liv's partner was dull as dishwater.)
  6. No one of those shows ever had a storyline on political corruption...so we KNOW they couldn't have taken place in Illinois!
  7. It shouldn't have been in Illinois then (though states do have cities with this same name...) the show's logo is the lighthouse...there are very few lighthouses in Illinois, so if they wanted the town to be midwestern, just make it Michigan, Springfield is on Lake Michigan, and that would explain how people could have "yahts" ..as Illinois is pretty landlocked if your not Chicago, or the northern burbs.
  8. HA..I am not new..I just never really pay attention to who is who.
  9. I dont know who Efulton is...hey beutiful people had their beauty which is more then the rest of us can say. I always thought he was hottest when he filled out a bit, but people were calling him fat back then. It is good to know the hotties of today that people drool over and wish that they could be with end up like the rest of us tomorrow..so kids. always marry for personality!!!! I never knew he was rapist on AW..but he fit in well on ATWT, but I agree he took over and I could care less about the AW people guest appearances.
  10. I'm sorry they lost their home...terrible However, I am so shallow that I have to say...he did not age well...enjoy your youth while you have it...and I know he enjoyed his.
  11. Those pictures are great.. I love young, sexy Alan (oh RR...you were never Alan) and even sexier Rita (she always seemed like a character that Pam Long would find interesting..) Does anyone know if they ever tried to bring MH back as Ed during all the time sourpuss PS was gone?
  12. That sounds like the premise of a TV show.."Out of work soap actor becomes private eye..watch him don his various disguises to catch the bad guys, and he might actually find love in the real world."
  13. Why would he be blacklisted, was there behind the scenes issues with him?
  14. Ha..yes...I can no longer watch SNL with the studio audience acting like they are coked up and screaming at the start of the news, and laughing hysterically and clapping for the dumbest jokes....(if you can hear them if the stage hand presses the "laugh and clap" sign too early.)
  15. He always wanted younger women..so I am sure he was not happy with being paired with both Alex and Lillian..so he cheated himself out of a job and gave Kobe a reason to get rid of another Bauer. The "romances" were played as Story B...Mike helped Lillian and Beth with Bradley, and he took her out to dinner and she hadnt been on a date since Bradley, so when he said, "Wait until you see what I planned for desert," she thought he was wanting to get down with her. Alex, it was a slight flirtation and he took her flying as you said, etc. I do remember when they brought him back for the anniversary, they actually had a scene with he and Alan where he tells Alan, "Don't ask me about Hope" and ruffles Alan. Alex comes up and asks what is wrong and then she said, "I always preferred Ed." Its so weird that these writers don't just look back at old tapes or scripts or history. I wish they had recast Mike (I found Stewart stiff) and had that romance with Alex right before Rog came back..much prefer it then..Fletcher. About GL and Marland..I think that the show was a bit more sophisticated and "sexy" then what he was used to. Even during the Dobs time it was more freewheeling and humorous. The Bauers were really first generation "upper middle class" with Ed and Mike, while the Hughes were dyed in the wool WASPS. Bert, with her bitchy past was more fallible, human, and warmer then Nancy Hughes, etc. I think that is one of the reasons the Dobs weren't good at ATWT...they brought in more humor and camp and it didn't really fit, and they probably did not know what to do with Nancy Hughes. a colder, more domineering matriarch yet not a villain.
  16. Instead of Alex, I wanted Joan Collins to play Elizabeth..back to reclaim the son she raised and this time, more then capable of taking Alan on. I know it would be a stretch that fragile Elizabeth would be self confident Joan Collins, (can she play anything but supremely self confident?) But I remember watching as a kid and Elizabeth was OBSESSED with Phillip( actually everyone in town was, he was the forerunner of Lily Walsh) so for her to just be like, "See YA!" and never mentioned is weird.
  17. Bridget was a very difficult person, who did not suffer fools, so I can imagine how she and JFP got along (JFP prefered her difficult people to be men...) I would love to hear some of the backstage stories there.
  18. It is pretty good. Despite the victim being less then compelling..if it wasnt McTavish I would have thought that the writer was trying to say something about violence against women, as the villain dresses up as of course, an ugly woman (mirroring his views on women) but it was just a twist on a back from the dead disguise but it was a good one. There was one scene in particular where Brent reveals himself on a desktop screen, that is a cross between the Wizard of Oz and a Meta comment on soap's recasting.
  19. Well, GL patterned Marion's "look" after Jilly, so that says a lot about the feeling she left at her old place.
  20. People can criticize whomever they want, its all subjective. And we know how JFP won those Emmys..she was smart and knew how to play the game. Kudos for her but that doesn't mean the material deserved it.
  21. Yes, it was the set for Kim and Nick...though when Marland came in they redesigned the living room to have that big entry way and stair case and as Kim helpfully explained, a door to seperate from the living room so "People can have private conversations" which other characters could eavesdrop on despite the door (actually it was a good production move as two characters could use the same set to talk about who the babydaddy is, I hate it when soaps show characters step two feet from other characters to have a private convo, and the other characters don't notice. The kitchen came during Marland..I remember Hays saying in an interview that they loved the direction the show was in and mentioned "they gave me a big beautiful kitchen set" I also remember only Kim would have plates that matched the wallpaper I believe. I don't know if it was just for Katie (I actually liked Katie...duck...) but because New York Gautman could not believe that anyone spent so much time in a kitchen..(he mentioned that he had a hard time with ATWT "midwesterness.")
  22. I loved their old living room (which was the house Kim and Nick lived in redecorated, which was kinda weird) where everyone would just "walk in" and start talking about their problems or doing exposition on the plot (mostly everyone's favorite buttinsky Lisa who had a hand in everyone's plot) ..it was unrealistic but I loved it and I always thought that a soap should have one center, main house where everyone felt comfortable and at home at..I am sure the Gautman's and JFP's of the world would disagree. Anyway, Bob and Kim seemed to loose their whole house, during the producer before Gautman their living room got redesigned and shrunk and would not have contained the marching band of characters that Marland had coming in and out, and then their kitchen became a set of WOAK, and Bob and Kim had to hang out at Lisa's hotel all day, Kim wearing the same damn pink pantsuit...SAD!!!!
  23. I would have rather seen Kim and Bob's kitchen (as Gautman seemed to think the show only needed on kitchen set...) the show started at the Hughes and should have ended at the Hughes home. But yes, they should have burned down that farm, there were always weird logistics going into getting the characters out to "Luther's Corner" where even Lisa would drop by in her fur it was getting nutty. The show actually needed an urban family to offset all the wasps the show centered on...(and believe me, I love that Kim and Nancy cooked in an apron and pearls..)
  24. Man, Kimmer was looking..HARD then! And Rauch had Van contemplating plastic surgery while Reva looked she just spent a week on a Tulsa dive bar walk..which is how Reva should look but still, she was the center of the show and the goddess of love??/
  25. In the interview she did with Alan she came off as much more charming and warm and clever then I thought she would (with her long list of misdeeds.) I can see people liking her but just shaking their heads at her decisions, and I can see her barreling into disaster even when people tell them she is wrong, and her ego just saying "They don't have my VISION!" When my source is Datalounge I try to put that in the post, cause you know those bitoches just come up with some sh*t!!!
