  1. Olivia??? Ed???? Lillian???If you say Buzz...I will go nutso!!!! When Long introduced Reva and Alex..the rest of the families were still going strong...(plus Alex was a core family member..if totally retro written out of the blue...)
  2. Agreed, the Bauers needed rebuilding...it was just awkward with the "new" Bauers..maybe make them Mike's step kids that he adopts. Maybe Harley should have been a Reardon grandkid..ala Bridget, who Bea or Mo took in. Speaking of Faux Bauers, its weird that Long wrote off Bea, but brought in Johnny's parents, put them on contract, they moved into the Boardinghouse, and then she never did anything with them. A Sam/Dinah competition would be fun, and it would take Dinah away from the eternal triangle with Crassie!
  3. After it became apparent that the Bauers were never going to make a comeback I wanted the Marlers take their place (after Ed left I would have them move into the Bauer House as Blake spent better part of her childhood there) and bring back Sam. A Sam/Dinah jealousy would be good (Dinah not happy that Sam is Ross's idea of a "perfect" daughter) and LK worked better as an eccentric warm hearted person who screwed up then the hold Blake/Vixen mode ) But instead they put the Coopers in as core...with that horrible simpering cutesy Marina recast.
  4. I remember they were going to recast Chele...hopefully without Danny..(killed in a hit..and Chele gets protected by a hot cop...NOT Frank..) I always think that CBS was a little upset that GL started looking like it was getting its act together...though I suppose it was too little too late and they are going to do it anyway.
  5. I think a lot of that was due to Ehlers "energy" as Zimmer called it in her book. Either just the vibe she was giving or the writers taking cues from her life (maybe some maliciously) but the actress is well known for sabotaging her own life with the various relationships and attitude at work.
  6. Wow...and I thought that I really didn't like Nadine! I think that a small family service would be good, with a couple of other people like Bridget there...Vanessa would go cause she would feel she "had" to as in some strange way Peter got to her through Nadine, Ross would go as he used to schtump her...(who didn't he thought, except Reva (that God) Alex (she laid a kiss on him though) and Maureen.?) Just having everyone think she left town would be weird, even Nadine would have to get in contact with her kids once in a while. I thought that Nadine and Nola would be kind of fun, in an Ab Fab kind of way, with Nola being able to talk her into some of her schemes..."Here Nadine, put this wig on, your going disguised as a maid to get into Alan's study...."but other then goofiness there was nothing more for her to do...and I was over her pining over Buzzard!
  7. Actually, she was psychic before during the JFP era..I think it was when GhostReva was floating around and she felt her. It was just a gimmick to give another Cooper something to do, but with Nadine they could have made her the Aunt Clara of psychics, always getting some detail wrong and everyone rolling their eyes at her latest Everyone knew her..Josh, as she was married to Billy, Ed, Holly (she had a talk show at WSPR) Alex, Bridget (I hated the attic hiding the baby thing, but I loved the Bridget/Nadine relationship where Bridget always insulted her clothes ) Vanessa (though there was history there.) When they brought Buzz on they severed all of that to have Nadine stuck at the diner, chasing after Buzz or listening to that dullard Lucy.
  8. Ha..I loved the Reardon kitchen..the little touches like the fading rose wallpaper and the wooden hutch made it look like an old victorian house..too bad Rauchie didnt care for the set or the Reardons...(I remember a bad kitchennette he gave Nola in her "Stalking Buzz" days in her room. Rauchie, its not a flop house...) Nadine also had the trucker guy who wanted to be with her but she was hung up on Buzzard. So McTrash forgot he existed (or he left town) but they could have had her just marry him and leave town happy.
  9. No there is a scene out there in the diner, where Frank tells Buzz and the scenery chewing commences...and I am sure the mags, and some fans, thought Deas was once again, hitting out of the ballpark ..(I am sure the fans at Yankee Stadium could hear Deas drowning then all out...)It was equal only to when Reva tells Buzz she is dumping him and he is racing back and forth on the set, flapping and screaming that even Zimmer is standing there at a loss (which was good, as the set could not take both of them chewing it up!) I really don't remember a funeral but I could be wrong, maybe Frank laid a rose on her in the station. I never liked Deeney but even I thought that was a crappy way to treat her...(first murdering her...then dumping her body in the diner garbarge..then making a joke out of it, "Have a little dinner food Deeney" ...the letting her rot away while everyone thought they skipped town...) GL still bruised from killing one Mom, goes and kills another?
  10. LOL..I watched that scene not long ago and can't believe how over the top and cartoonish he was acting. I actually felt sorry for Frank D. The woman you shat on for years and ignored at best, instead of quiet mourning, he is screaming like his taxes just went up again! No Nadine did not get a proper funeral. After mouldering away in the lake, when they found her she sat on a slab and Frank's cop partner said a rosary or prayer over her. I forgot about his female cop partner, they were trying to make them a item for a bit but it didn't work, but with the right actress could have been interesting as the Frank/Eleni thing was dead in the water with MK.
  11. It's weird that Marland was introducing those elements as he was only supposed to be short term? I also would like to know if he started the "Joyce is back" story sending Nancy and Chris to San Francisco..(perhaps Joyce would see them there and follow them home.)
  12. its on Youtube...try searching "Lisa at the Willows" and some of it comes up.Yes, the Dobs wanted to finish up some GL stuff and were forced into moving to ATWT...and it showed.
  13. LOL..you could have left off..."gave a bad name" and there you have it, well at least he did give me a woodie...(ha-ha) I never was that into abs, but thought he just was more handsome then the usual soap "studs" and brought a "really, you think I'm good looking?" vibe to it. Frost had good chemistry with the Craig actor and thought she fit in well with her TV family...I never really felt Ryan connect to anyone but Steve..( and I love Lyla giving Betsy hell...) To each their own!!!!
  14. They should have just recast DP as Alan instead of Roger. I thought he would be good, and he and Watros would be sexy together.
  15. I liked Frost much better then Ryan. Ryan's Betsy was jittery then even Fulton's Lisa at that time....and she seemed, uh, special needs. Plus Frost had no chemistry with Runyon so we were rid of him. Really? Collier was one of the few soap "hunks" that I thought was really good (and actually very good looking of course) he wasnt the greatest actor, but he managed to make Mike seem like a nice guy who really, really didn't know that he was hot. Plus, the first Mike was played by that orangey guy..I think he was on Days right?
  16. Yes, Mike wasn't even at his own sister's funeral....there is mention from Lillian that he is in Washington.....(what they don't have planes? I am sure he is big shot enough to get the time off...lazy...) Yes, they showed the clip and they had Reva talk about it..I don't remember a scene between the two of them...("Nice red dress dear..") but it actually held more weight then FauxEd and after seeing interviews with Zimmer I can see that while she wasnt on the show for long before Charita died, she respected her and said that she was a "force of nature" on that set that everyone loved and listened to.
  17. I remember that..can you imagine that..it would be even more notorious than Roger being recast. For some reason I think they were considering the woman who played the German caterer on Mindy and Kurts' wedding...she looked like Charita. But why go to that trouble and not jut bring in Meta or Bea? I do know that in an interview Long said she always wanted to bring back Meta..now why she didn't who knows.
  18. I remember when Don McLaughlin on ATWT died Helen Wagner commenting that the atmosphere on the set became strange...people were fighting and normally ATWT was a calm set, and that all went away once they acknowledge his death and filmed Chris funeral. I could imagine that, even though a lot of the actors never worked with Charita that her presence was even greater on that set and that they would want to do it not only for the viewers who grew up with her, but the cast and crew.
  19. Island Man actually, while being no great shakes as an actor, had that "thing" that makes a good soap actor..(believe it or not they don't all have to be GREAT thespians) and I don't mean his chest. He had good chemistry with Zimmer, Wright but especially with Moniz Dinah. He was the one character who could call her out without totally vilifying her. I know the cartoon thinking of Rauch and company was that Dinah was the bad girl and Cassie perfect, but it would have been interesting to see Moniz do more then whine about her mommy issues or hang on to a total turd like Grillo's Hart (even though they had no chemistry I think he an the vapid Cassie deserved each other.) I agree, he and the Clone doctor could have done so much more..(I would have made Clone Doctor a recast Jim Reardon in conflict with his nephew Matt over Van. ) And yea, I remember that Grillo had more chemistry with that weird actor who played Cassie's ex, then either of his female costars. It was Kobe that said they wanted to keep Bert alive for Rick to be able to make a phone call..."Grandma, I need you." which was weird and dumb. I think that Charita dying of course threw them...(I remember the Christmas episodes had Bert taking a nap upstairs in the Bauer house, which was no "unBert" like that I knew they had to hastily rewrite. I think that Long was the only writer attached to the show that could do Bert's death justice (and in her defense, I think Long would have written the hell out of it) but she was on maternity leave and Ryder was totally clueless (the show had absolutely no warmth during his stint.) And yes, her death could have been the catalyst to turn the show around...bringing back a recast Hope(just before Alan returns) who I would have inherit Bert's old house and want to continue her legacy (taking over the old "Patient Advocacy" program,) though having a hard time living up to it. I would have Alex do whatever she could to manipulate Hope to stay, so that there was another Spaulding to "mother/smother" and she and Hope argue over AM. I actually think that the actress who played Reva's mom would have been a good recast for Meta, and she and Charita knew each other so she would do it justice, but they could have also just brought back Lawson as Bea for a mother figure.
  20. Yea, he was created by E & B...and went through many bizarre changes..he was a doctor, who of course, was connected to San Crud (though he looked and acted like he was straight from California...) but was an art collector...(uh, no...) and then became a secret agent. He was WAY too young for Reva..and frankly, Zimmer(attractive as she was) was at the stage where she could not pull off having a boy toy..plus even younger Reva would have thought Noah was a boring generic hunk. The push of Dobies was no doubt from the Rauch camp who were still trying to make Reva work as an ageless love goddess and Zimmer who not only was feeding her insatiable ego and need for airtime, was wanting to be in scenes with someone other then RN. An interesting plot that Labine could have written was to have an earlier menopause story for Reva, or just have Reva feeling her age, not have guys falling all over her, and dealing with that.
  21. The show was such a mess before this that any writer would have a hard time trying to fix it. I did like that they tried to show Danny and Chele's relationship was bad, tried to break them up and I actually loved Aunt Meta vs. Claire. I never understood Rauch's determination to turn Reva into that normal mom, beloved figure. You're right, it never played to Zimmer's strengths and it didn't help that they dressed her like the Insurance Agent she played on Seinfeld.
  22. It is funny..and really all Reva there...and no one seems to run after her after she leaves the church...I think they are just happy there can be a bit of quiet...and no one notices this big blond woman in a wedding dress wandering about ("George, I think I just saw the Slut of Springfield bump into our trash cans...well, from what I hear that is JUST where she belongs!") I did like Original Recipe Reva, (though not taking over the whole show..) I just really, really dislike Post Resurrection Reva...like Marland and Nola, no one could writer for her besides Long.
  23. Thanks for the clip..I wonder what would have happened if Marland had stayed with GL longer? Interesting to see a bit more of the Boarding House then the kitchen..and..interesting attitudes on abortion here...(I get that Floyd is against it, and Bea and Tony being Catholic...but they could have had someone else mention a different point of view.) Thanks, I always heard it was Peapack, which, should have sued GL and Wheeler for making the place look like a dump! Speaking of did NSA (Michelle) really say that Wheeler was kind of a b*tch on a Locker Room episode? If so I can imagine Alan clutching his pearls!
  24. I remember ..(McTavish of course) Lillian was saying she saw Reva come out of a dress shop or something and her dress was stuck in her but or something. Stupid and I could see Nola saying something like that..(they had Nola saying at Chirstmas, when Van is saying Josh and Annie are laying low, "Well I don't blame them now that Reva is back in town!") I always wanted a Reva/Nola catty session but I don't think we got it!
  25. Really? I was making fun of them having Alan do a press conference that way, I had no idea that Wheeler was so "on target" with realism! The unfortunate thing is, the show had no budget to have a tornado, flood , or one of the hundreds of fires which inflicted 5th Street. Plus, Peapack is a beatiful area...it's where Reva did her hyper dramatic dive walk after she dumped Kyle at the altar. Why not use some of that and not..the junked out backyard of Harley..(not that I doubt a Cooper would have junk in their backyard.)
