On paper, Emme Rylan could have worked, but it was the material. Her Lulu was written as a weak "new mom", which plagued her and Maxie around this time. Had she been given the type of material Julie Marie Berman got, then she could have done much better, especially after her time as Lizzie on GL and Abby on Y&R.

date: Monday, June 16 | Teresa Zimmerman, Judy Tate | Michael V. Pomarico Deadbeat is losing his mind, and I'm here for it. Ashley, do not put that ring on your finger. You deserve better, and he's out there boinking a Dupree woman. Go get your man! So, this "traumatic event" Deadbeat endured was in more recent years? So it's recent and during his marriage, I would assume? And the man from that night? Hmm... what happened? Gambling troubles? Bradley is officially an employed journalist, and that makes me very excited for him. Derek, your ass belongs with your ugly, named chair and your Moose head. That's it. If you cannot live together, how are you going to get married? Be realistic, Derek. Think with your head (the one on your shoulders). I appreciate the power and command that Vanessa is making with Joey. She's smarter than she actually appears, and it's refreshing, especially from a blonde woman who may often give off the "dumb blonde" persona. I am adoring the backstory of Madison's coming out, the history behind who was/was not for her coming out, etc. It's a nice little insight into a new character, and it wasn't done in the first two episodes. Derek, take the very apparent hint (NO) and stop pushing; pushing Ashley is only going to push her away even more than she already is. And Ashley threw the truth back into Derek's face. Madison, a theatre kid?! Not what I would've expected. But it shows you do have a type, so to speak. But I am loving this flirtation/information "get" between her and Chelsea, and that kiss was smooth as butter. I'm vibing with these two so much and hope it isn't some kind of "blip". Yacht Club?! Oh, could this be a future set once we get into season two?! That would be exciting. Uh-oh, Bradley, be careful... you're treading into dangerous territory, and I would not want you getting hurt. The bomb drop: Vanessa is willing to go into business, but only if it is beneficial to her (and Douglas). Boom; she wants 18% of the deal. She's going to get what she wants. I love a headstrong businesswoman. Oh, that's smooth, Andre, showing up with the restaurant-branded napkin. I'd be swooning immediately. The sexual chemistry between Joey and Vanessa is palpable; she's ready to not be able to walk again, and I am absolutely here for it. Bradley is connecting the dots where Joey and Marcel are concerned, and it is riveting. He knows how to do his job, and he does it quite well. Madison does not give a frick about the Chinese food; she just wants some "Chelsea" for dessert. Yes, ma'am! Go for it! That "sex scene" was pure magic. Whew. And the opposite with Joey/Vanessa – that was pure fiery, tense passion. Wow. Oh snap, does Marcel know what happened with Deadbeat? Notes: I appreciate that we had a proposal refusal with what felt like a truthful answer: someone is not ready for marriage, and it did not take making it to the altar before confessing this. I love the continued frank conversations dealing with consent and one's sexuality. It's so refreshing to see them both discussed in comfort and without a fuss. I appreciate the branded pieces of sets: napkins, etc. It's that unique touch that will really make these sets feel real to audiences. I love that we continue to receive scenes sans overwhelming musical cues; it feels more primetime, and I like that dialogue/scenes can breathe.- GH: June 2025 Discussion Thread

Well, they think they know best. 🤣- Y&R: June 2025 Discussion Thread
If Rylan were 52, then she looks damn good for her age. But no, she's 44, while Ordway is 42, so. And considering Amelie Heinle and Joshua Morrow are 52 and 51, respectively, at least they made both Abby actors younger than those who play her older siblings.- GH: June 2025 Discussion Thread

I agree; it's not like they all woke up one morning and said, "Hey! Let's produce a new soap opera!" From what Sheila Ducksworth stated, this was ultimately part of a "four-year effort to break new ground in the genre" since she assumed her position with CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, and to me it shows in the product. And of course with the support of George Cheeks, it happened; remember, even Michele Val Jean stated she doubted it would happen. I agree, to an extent. This is a new soap opera, produced in a new location (Georgia versus California and New York), so some kinks will be different. Of course, Val Jean, Ducksworth and everyone brought in people with some history in soaps (i.e., directors, producers, writers, etc.), but in a new setting. Plus, with this being a new soap opera, they didn't have the pitfalls other soaps have had (i.e., a new executive producer/head writer coming in to make changes they want to make). They have had the benefit of writing their own rules and setting their own standards of practice, and it shows in how things are done, production-wise, and I think that's beautiful. And I think that's where some pushback from the social media/message board posters comes from⏤I see a lot of "Well, [this soap] does this and [that soap] does that," and Beyond the Gates isn't those other soaps. It is its own soap, and that's beautiful. I feel like she does; Julie Hanan Carruthers, from what I've noticed, is pretty prominent on the set daily, so I'm feeling pretty sure she's there running the day-to-day operations on the ground, while Val Jean and Ducksworth work more in the background, especially when they're both in Los Angeles, etc. I agree; since May Sweeps, I do feel like we've begun to weave through the relationships between characters (Dani with Chelsea/Kat, etc.), and they're beginning to be fluid in what's happening.- BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos

💯 co-sign; I may call her a convicted felon (which she is), but this kind of blatant attack, in-script, is in extremely poor taste. This is General Hospital, not Law & Order. Her problems are not a laughing matter, period, even if the scripts are ridiculous to laugh at because of how just outrageous they actually are. And it's generous calling Natalia C-grade... I would say even D- would be pushing it, given the amount of disinterest the audience seems to have had with her.- BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
I agree, but again, it's their opinion, and it does not affect my watching/liking of the serial, and I urge everyone to continue to take that route, as well. Every soap is going to have its negative Nancy's (in our eyes), or those that will "dog" the serial. It's what comes from a soap opera (regardless of being American, Australian, or British). I agree; it's still taking its shape a bit, but they've laid a good foundation for themselves as to what works for them, and what will be their "base line".- BTG: June 2025 Discussion Thread
No, which is criminal. She did receive two Soap Opera Digest Award nominations (1995 and 2003) for "Outstanding Supporting Actress".- GH: June 2025 Spoilers
As far as I can tell, Anderson and his family reside in California (Sacramento, per his Linkedin); besides, Anderson has always been open to appearing on the show. It's a matter of writing for the character, ultimately. And considering he's usually included in fan events, I'd wager they're keen on keeping him as a recurring player (when he's available/when TPTB want him to work). The recast with Blake Berris was only because of a scheduling conflict and only lasted from January 16 to 19, 2017.- Y&R: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Melissa Ordway and Emme Rylan are only two years apart. Orday is 44 and Rylan is 44, so if Rylan is "way too old", then so wouldn't Ordway.- GH: June 2025 Discussion Thread
Oh absolutely; it's lazy, off-putting, and shows the true colours of those involved with the creation of it (i.e., not the actors). It's in extreme poor taste, no matter how you may feel about Pullos and the choices she made. - DAYS: June 2025 Spoilers
