  1. Yes but the Black Canvas B&E wrote on Loving was only because Debbi was the one that initiated it. Before Angie arrived in Corinth in 1993, the only Black character in Loving's 10 year history (1983 to 1993) was Minnie (Egypt nurse maid). I don't think the character of Angie would've crossed B&E minds, if they didn't write for the character of Angie on Loving/The City prior to B&E arrival in Pine Valley. So again, it was Debbie who brought Angie back to the creative minds at ABC. NOT those ABC executives or writers.
  2. They did not bring back Debbi on Loving - Debbi brought back Debbi. In her autobiography Debbi writes that her marriage to Charles Dutton was imploding and she needed to go back to work - fast. She called up the executives at ABC/AMC to let them know she was available for hire, and would be interested in going back. Few days later they called back and told them they had no room at AMC, but they would make room for her at Loving. Debbi accepted. If it was for Debbi making that call, who knows if Brown and Esensten would have created that Black canvas on Loving.
  3. In 2007 every single actor was shut out from the Daytime Emmy nominations except one Level Rambin was the sole acting nominee from All My Children at the Daytime Emmys in 2007 Every single cast member from AMC was shut out that year (2007)
  4. There was a time when OLTL was without a head writer - but the head writer abruptly quit and Jill Farren Phelps was forced to not only produce the show, but act as interim Head Writer, until they could find someone And that is one of the stories JFP penned - Dorian hitting Jessica with her car
  5. NBC was thrilled with JFP numbers, but it looked bad on P&G that Another World had higher demos than their jewel in the crown ATWT. It is embarrasing that more women were tuned into Another World than As The World Turns from P&G stand-point. I'm sure they were fine with AW having high ratings, as long as it was always behind ATWT.
  6. I believe that JFP made Another World the top P&G soap for women 18 - 49 - and sustained those numbers - until the day she left. Then it just went downhill
  7. NBC didn't care about overall ratings - they cared about the demo - women 18 - 49. Jill Farren Phelps pushed Another World's ratings as the top P&G soap for women 18 - 49. Ahead of both As The World Turns and Guiding Light.
  8. There was a scene with Opal (Jill Larson) while in the Martin attic, Opal discovered a skeleton with a pair of skiis and the name "Bobby" appearing in a name tag. Later, Tad referred to a skeleton as a Halloween party as his brother. When All My Children was wrapping up - Sarah Michelle Geller pitched a story idea to TPTB when she asked to do a cameo (as Alicia Minshew was playing Kendall) "I can come down from the attic with Bobby Martin; I can be his ski bunny wife," Gellar teased.
  9. Actress Holly Cate who played the scheming Janice Maxwell has uploaded the best "Janice Moments" on her YouTube channel
  10. Sydney Penny (Julia) Announces Husband Robert Powers's Death on December 31, 2024 at the age of 59, one day shy of his 60th birthday. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/soap-alum-sydney-penny-announces-husband-robert-powerss-death/ In her poignant post on Facebook, Penny wrote, “I’m heartbroken to have to share the news that my husband of 29 years, Robert L Powers, passed away early in the morning on New Year’s Eve. He hadn’t widely shared that he had been fighting cancer for several months, so I know this will be a surprise to many. He loved seeing all of your activities here on FB and I know he would want you to speed through your sadness and shock and continue to celebrate life as he always did.” I'm sure we all send our deepest condolences to Penny, and all who loved Powers.
  11. Erica Kane - Supermodel - Happy Erica Kane Week!
  12. It was great seeing Brenda Brock back as she had returned from medical leave. During her absence Paul Rauch left and Linda Gottlieb returned. She recently signed a new two year contract, which the network insisted on. But it was shortsighted of Gottlieb and Michael Malone to get rid of the character, as they didn't know how she fit in. Brock says she was let go after her first cycle on her new two year contract.
  13. All this talk about Geri Betzler who played the infamous Lacey Bauer - I googled her to see what she did after Guiding Light Apparently she died on Sept 2023 at age 57 Geralyn Betzler | Obituary | Minnesota Star Tribune
  14. I stumbled on to this a few months ago. Former head writer of One Life To Live - Sam Hall - had once sued ABC for not getting royalties - when the show moved online. Sam Hall was to receive $1,000 a week for life, as long as OLTL remained on the air - link Former ‘One Life to Live’ Writer Sues ABC Over Royalties I know we have talked about Head Writers receiving royalties for characters they create (though there has been disagreement if that is true or not) - so in terms of writers wanting to make their own mark - it is possible money is the reason. They were "distant" cousins - and "distant" cousins have hooked up on other shows - like OLTL (Larry & Karen) - and we had Tammy & Jonathan on GL!
  15. When Sheri Anderson was writing the show her plan was to expand the Bauer family. She introduced Johnny Bauer, then Lacey Bauer - with the plans of reviving the "Four Musketeers" with Lacey, Alan-Michael, Dinah & Cameron. Also on the drawing board was adding Todd Bauer with Frank Dicopoulos in that role. However before any of that could be done Sheri Anderson was out and Pam Long was back in. She immediately dropped the Lacey Bauer character, and kept the reivived "Four Musketeers" storyline, but inserted her own creation - Harley Cooper. Needing a foil for that character, she changed Todd Bauer into Frank Cooperm still played by Frank Dicopoulos.
  16. Fun Fact - Cady McClain actually auditioned for the role of Harley back in 1987 - she said her nerves caused her to screw up the audition. This was her first audition for a soap, so she took the lessons she learned with her "Harley" screentest and applied them for her next soap audition - Dixie in All My Children. She made it to the screen test stage - but dropped out of the running when she landed a Prime Time Pilot. The pilot didn't sell and someone else was cast as Dixie. But TPTB at AMC were unsatisfied with the actress playing Dixie, and months later called up Cady and offered her the part of Dixie without even a screentest!
  17. This was 1983 - and at the time I would say Agnes Nixon was the second most powerful woman at ABC Daytime (after Gloria Monty). Nixon sold All My Children to ABC by that time, so she couldn't take AMC elsewhere. But the story goes (as recounted in the Ryan's Hope book) Nixon was threatening to bolt to another network (NBC) and work her magic on their soaps, unless she got Ryan's Hope timeslot. That is something ABC didn't want to happen, so it was easier to switch shows, instead of losing Nixon.
