  1. Dinah (Paige Turco) would wind up playing her sister Laine on All My Children
  2. Clint Ritchie was furious on how they turned his character into a homophobe and was actually seeking legal advice to terminate his contract. But then he got into that accident, and was off-screen for months. Which allowed Viki & Sloane to continue their romance. But threw a wrench into the storyline of Sloane dying, and Viki returning to Clint. So they convinced Roy Thinnes to sign a new contract and keep the Sloane/Viki pairing until Clint Ritchie could return to the show
  3. Fun Fact - Cady McClain auditioned to play Harley in 1988. She writes in her book she was so nervous, she did a horrible audition. But that gave her experience to improve for her next audition - at "All My Children"
  4. Actually he was offered the role first, and they were very close to signing a deal. But then it fell apart because P&G refused to allow him to direct some shows ( as he had in his OLTL contract to direct) - If he could get the opportunity to direct, there was no point in leaving OLTL
  5. They cast the role so last minute - then they gave him five scripts to memorize and he had to recite all this legal jargon, as they were filming all his scenes from five episodes in one massive filming. As they cast him so late, he felt there was just no way he was going to pull this off (filming all his scenes from 5 shows in one day) - so he dropped out, as he felt it was impossible.
  6. Most Guiding Light fans have figured out Vincent was talking about Gregory Beecroft. Melanie Smith from ATWT also had problems with Beecroft as well.
  7. Two reasons for the breakup: #1) Grant Alexander made it clear he would be leaving as soon as his contract was up in 1984. #2) There were stories of friction between Grant and Judi Evans behind the scenes. Years later (when Judi was on Another World), she recounted a story, specifically saying this happened on another soap. That a certain male co-star made a lewd gesture towards her while they were running lines in his dressing room. Yes, she could be referring to someone on "Days of Our Lives," or she could be referring to someone on "Guiding Light." But Judi would later tell stories of the "toxicity" from certain co-workers on Guiding Light. Since Grant would be leaving, and allegedly he and Judi were not getting along, it made sense to split them up and pair Judi with Vincent Irrizarry. But Judi & Grant seemed to have patched things up, as they participated in an hour-long "Four Musketeers" reunion on the Locher Room. Seems to be water under the bridge after 40 years.
  8. She has written about her time on Ryan's Hope in her autobiography "The Third Gilmore Girl"
  9. What is strange is that she talk religion and saying that her charcter is such a religious person - but then she had those hot and sexy steam love scenes with Hank Gannon, that is not Sunday School Carlotta at all!
  10. It wasn't about Fish & Kyle getting married - it was about Christian having a book about "Coming Out" and Carlotta wonders if Christian is gay. Then she goes to Christian and says it is okay to be gay.
  11. Except she plays the victim every chance she gets by telling everyone she was fired
  12. Patricia Mauceri says she was fired
  13. Sad that no one is doing anything for Ryan's Hope 50th Anniversary - it has come and gone - and nothing has or is being planned Sad
  14. David Selby Gregory Harrison & Wendy Phillips Discuss Final Season
  15. My mistake: Johnny Bauer was created by Mary Ryan Munisteri. My point about Sarah Shayne was that Pam booted Jack & Lainie from running "Company" and replaced them with Sarah & Hawk running "Company." As Pam eventually wrote out Jack & Lainie in favor of elevating Sarah & Hawk.
  16. Considering how Pam Long moved so swiftly to axe the Wisconsin Bauer clan to install the Cooper family, that she might have negotiated a royalty payment to return to Guiding Light. This is speculation. But as a condition of her returning as head writer, she would receive a lifetime royalty for any new family she creates on the show. This is a show BUSINESS; people are always looking out for themselves. So while writers might not receive a royalty for any new character they create, some head writers might have the clout to negotiate a contract that has nothing to do with the writers guild. Sam Hall could have recognized the value ABC was gaining from his creation of the Buchanan clan and likely made it a condition of his return to receive a lifetime royalty. Pam Long might have done the same. After seeing how her creation of the Shayne family took off, she wasn't about to ripped off a second time. She might have stipulated in writing that if P&G wants her back as Head Writer, she requires a lifetime royalty if a new family she creates becomes successful (The Coopers).
  17. Back in 1987, Sheri Anderson was the head writer for Guiding Light, and she slowly started to expand the Bauer family. She introduced distant cousin Johnny Bauer. Then she added his parents, Lainie and Jack Bauer, to run "Company." Finally, Lacey Bauer was added as part of the Cameron/Dinah/Alan-Michael quadrangle. But Sheri Anderson wasn't done expanding the Bauer clan. On the drawing board was Johnny's brother Todd Bauer, and Frank Dicopoulos was hired for the part. Then Sheri Anderson was abruptly fired, and Pam Long was reinstated as head writer. Pam promptly removed the majority of Sheri Anderson's characters. Frank Dicopoulos was no longer Todd Bauer. Instead he became mechanic Frank Cooper. The character of Lacey Bauer was dropped, and Frank's sister, Harley Cooper, became the fourth member of the Cameron/Dinah/Alan-Michael quadrangle. Lainie and Jack Bauer no longer ran "Company." Instead, Reva's mother, Sarah Shayne, came to town, was seeking employment, and promptly started running "Company," working alongside her ex-husband, Hawk Shayne. This is one example of where one head writer would AXE characters created by their predecessor. In favor of inserting their own characters, they created.
  18. Pam Long created the Coopers - NOT Jill Farren Phelps
  19. I suspect because Sam Hall created the Buchanan family - who dominated the show until the end.
  20. the former head writer of One Life To Live, Sam Hall, sued ABC for stopping royalty checks when OLTL moved over to Prospect Park According to the complaint, ABC made a deal in 1984 with Wildercliff, Ltd. for Hall’s writing services. The agreement is said to have entitled Hall to a weekly royalty “as long as the One Life to Live series is broadcast.” A copy of the agreement was included as an exhibit in the lawsuit. The royalty payment was $1,000 per week, and it’s not spelled out whether “broadcast” is restricted to network television. Hall says he got those weekly royalties until Jan. 13, 2012, when the series ended on ABC. “Each week during which such exhibitions by each authorized entity occurred Hall was entitled to be paid the weekly royalties,” says the complaint. “Despite due demand, Hall has not been paid any of the weekly royalties to which he is entitled for the exhibition of the series by Prospect Park Productions, iTunes, Hulu and OWN, which total in excess of $50,000.” https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/one-life-live-writer-sues-669645/
  21. Cady McClain had a Cooney family reunion! Getting together with her on-screen brother Will #1 - Lonnie Quinn. He is now a weatherman for WCBS & CBS News
  22. Stumbled on this news item while I was researching something else. Kristen Vigard (Joy O'Neill) was originally cast on OLTL to be the new Tina! But writers decided to hold off on bringing Tina back (at that time) so they decided to create a brand new character for Vigard, and that is how the O'Neill family came to exist - read below
  23. What is ironic is when Gloria Monty returned to General Hospital she went back to the roots of soaps by introducing the middle-class Eckert family, and returned to traditional soap telling Ratings plummeted and Monty found herself getting the boot.
  24. Viki attends her high school reunion
  25. Erika Slezak 1992 Daytime Emmy Reel Reel #1: Viki returns to Llanfair after the fire Reel #2: Viki mourns the loss of her daughter Megan
