  1. The above youtube from Ari Zucker starts out with thanking people for coming to New Jersey. She's referencing this:
On April 13 and April 14, There was a starstruckfan event in New Jersey, with Emily O'Brien, Shawn Christian, Ari Zucker, Stacy Haiduk, Paul Telfer, and Eric Martsolf.

Ari starts out the youtube with a thank you for that.
    and then she says:
"really appreciative of the amount of support that I have had
since the ---- leaving Days of Our Lives. I'll just be kind about it right now.
And just so y'all know, my last airdate is July, I think it's July 29th, and we'll see how things go after that."

Laura. Yes, she's an empath, and that's a beautiful thing -- until it's applied to criminals and killers.

Yea. that's the issue.  What bothered me the most was her incessant defense (or even propping) of Esme.   It made Laura look stupid and inconsiderate (and Laura should be neither.)

I'm a fan of some characters and pairings (but not a stan of anyone).

I am a Trina fan *and* a Laura fan (I can be both)
and I was *very* irritated with Laura's support of Esme.
It felt very disrespectful of Spencer and of Trina.

That bothered me even more that her concern for Cyrus or Heather.

  4. Update – April/May 2024  - Semifinals:

UEFA Champions League (European soccer tournament).
Semifinals - live broadcast from European evenings.

This impacts CBS soaps in western timezones
    on these dates:

Tuesday April 30, Wednesday May 1st,
    and Wednesday May 8, 2024

CBS Sports is covering ONE match per day.

    • April 30: CBS-TV *and* ParamountPlus.
    • May 1st: CBS-TV *and* ParamountPlus.
    • May 7:  *ONLY* on ParamountPlus (soaps unaffected)
    • May 8:  CBS-TV *and* ParamountPlus.

    Source: CBS press release:
    https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/champions-league/schedule/20240507/

This impacts soaps on CBS in western timezones.
Does not affect CTV-Canada or GlobalTV-Canada.

    On the semifinal dates:

    CBS live soccer coverage
    Pre-game show 2:00-3:00 PM EDT
    Soccer match 3:00-5:00 PM EDT
Total of three hours of live programming.

(Due to Daylight Savings Time in Europe,
some areas of the USA may be impacted
    differently in April&May than February&March)

CBS live soccer coverage on the affected dates:
    in APRIL & MAY 2024

    Pre-game show 2:00-3:00 PM EDT
    Soccer match 3:00-5:00 PM EDT

    (11am-2pm Pacific Daylight Time)

    (8am-11am Hawaii Standard Time)

What this means:  One or both CBS soaps might not air in western timezones,
but the soap(s) will still air on CBS stations on the east coast.
In some cities, one or both soaps will air on broadcast TV
at a special time, earlier or later in the day, or overnight.
So it won't be counted as a "full preemption" and the episodes will be uploaded online.
Be sure to check cbs.com or ParamountPlus if it doesn't air in your city.

    -----

"The Talk" is fully preempted nationwide
    on the affected dates.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES has invited me back to the show to celebrate 15000 episodes!
And to participate in the funeral for our beloved "Doug Williams," played by that wonderful man, Bill Hayes.
Soaps are the only venue where you get to go to two funerals for the same person, in real life and for the character.

  6. @BoldRestless thanks for the recap of the 1993 Rainbow Gardens stuff!

I found where I had looked at it before:

The pandemic rerun of the Aug. 7, 1996 episode of Christine/Paul wedding.
Wedding guests included Miles and Margaret Dugan, played by Parley Baer and Maxine Stuart. They were the Rainbow Gardens tenants that Christine had helped in 1993.   I remember looking up the "rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs" recap of that 1996 wedding the week before it aired in July 2020.

Then I wondered who are Miles and Margaret and started to research them then.  I'd only been a member here for a few months then, and tried reading all the history, but was so overwhelmed. I think I tried finding more about Miles and Margaret but I think I found only stuff on soapcentral.  I didn't think to research them on rec.arts.

  7. April 24 CDN, April 25 US.
Victor tells everyone Jordan fell off a bridge into the water and drowned and is dead and everyone believes him.

But secretly, the end of the episode shows Jordan confined behind bars in the basement of the Newman ranch in the wine cellar.  Victor says there's no way out and nobody can hear her and he made sure of that years ago.

Obviously a callback to Victor's origins when he imprisoned Julia's boyfriend there -- except that was decades ago and the house burned down and was rebuilt.  Is that supposed to be the same wine cellar?

Very unfortunate timing that this airs two weeks after the death of actress Meg Bennett who played Julia and was key in the original storyline.

Revealing Sugar’s actual name, Janet Webber, was a nice touch, as the name is a compound of both of Robin Mattson’s most famous roles.

    Oh I like that.

And it's a nice nod to B&B's Alley Mills going over to GH to take over (for the past year or two) Robin Mattson's role as Heather Webber (due to Robin being unavailable).

As was noted by @Paul Raven, Nick was an affordable housing developer for years, and we never saw a single home that he built, and if we ever saw any of the people he helped, it was probably a throwaway scene at the coffeehouse. Under Bill Bell, this stuff came to life with storylines like Margaret and Miles at Rainbow Gardens.

I watched some of the Rainbow Gardens stuff during summer 2020. Don't remember if it was on CBS pandemic reruns or if I just delved into old youtubes that existed then.
In the 1990s Christine was in attorney mode and did well with this. She discovered that the property was once owned by one of the Phillip Chancellors (Katherine's ex or his father, or maybe an ancestor.).  After this discovery, she got Katherine to fund it or assist with paperwork, or  maybe they got it declared a city historical site, or something like that, whatever, and that saved the tenants from eviction.
At the same time Danny wanted Cricket to move to New York with him for his music career, I think? Or around the same time period when her attorney career was starting to  go well.

They could have brought all this up during the Danny/Cricket scenes of the past few days.  They sort of did, but not really because Griffith always misses beats.  The conversation felt rushed.

I remember when Devon and Nick began doing the low-income housing project development/charity thing.  I think the name Rainbow Gardens popped up again when they  began the housing project around 2018.
Was it the same building? Or did they rename it in honor of the other one?

Could it be the director, Sonia?

I thought it might be her.  I looked at photos online of Sonia. Sometimes her hair is curlier/wavier that that, but then again those photos might be for special events instead of a normal workday?

Funny enough, some sites are stating she did not return to set until the 22nd.

That's Stephanie Sloane for tvinsider reporting that Kristian returned April 22.
And Deadline quoted tvinsider with the same info.
Deadline added that KA airs Nov. 29. (last eppy of November).
Other sites said 15,000th episode airs at beginning of December.
So she taped weeks apart but is airing around the same time.

Also Kristian posted on her own IG today April 23
a video titled "1st day back" - so that confirms she just returned.  It shows her and Beemer, walking around the Days sets. With stage manager Lucy wearing a headset, and a blurry image of an unidentified woman in a dress (maybe a director or other staffperson or unnamed actress)

Doesn't seem to be a right or wrong I suppose.

True. I don't want to be "thread police" so I just pointed out where the discussion was, without judging it.  It is ... what it is.

    3 hours ago, Melroser said:

I forget that all spoilers are basically in one thread now. Apologies. I was thinking that KA's return should have it's own thread. It's that important and a "hot topic".  😀

Technically @Errol said the monthly spoilers would be in one thread for each month.   Casting spoilers do usually have their own threads.

And yes KA is normally worthy of her own thread, although it's also understandable to include her return within this thread for "returns for Doug's funeral".

Meanwhile, we have two simultaneous threads for
    "returns for Doug's funeral"

I would suggest that  @Toups or @Errol merge the the two returns threads and then rename the merged thread as "DAYS: November/December 2024 returns" or something that clarifies what it's for, without revealing the spoiler in the title.

EDIT --  thank you  @Jeff to pointing out the confusion of two "returns" threads,

and thank you to @Toups for merging/renaming the two threads.

  13. 1 hour ago, Melroser said:

It's funny how everyone has been in such an uproar to condemn DAYS for KA not being a part of the show without it airing yet, but now that it is confirmed she's appearing there isn't a peep. Busy eating crow?

To be fair, the announcement and ensuing discussion inadvertently got
posted onto the Days April 2024 spoilers thread,
(even though this is a November 2024 spoiler).
So there has been some posting about it.

    I mean it's not *wrong* --  in that it's
    a spoiler announced during April.
It's just not a spoiler that will air during April.
