Meanwhile, the one story that I’m interested—Amanda’s discovery of her biological family—has pretty much come to a screeching halt.
Hmm? I wonder why?

A friend of mine Twitter is speculating that too. I wonder if/when who are they going to cast as Melissa? Or are they going to bring back Lisa Trusel? I wouldn't mind if Eve somehow back in the day had Gwen. But we find out Frankie Brady is her father.

Who do you think is Gwen's mother?
And I pray that it isn't

But when EYEEEE told certain folks on this board that Abby was not a lead, has no character beyond 'stupid' and will never be worthy of frontburner story or taken seriously, some of y'all wanted to throw me in the lake and see if I float!
I remember and gladly I wasn't one of them. She like AH is a supporting actress in a leading role.

I was just minding my own business on YouTube. While randomly this video popped up with a recent virtual reunion with Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) and Hillary B. Smith (Nora) Looks like Catherine and her husband Todd Fisher (Debbie Reynolds son) have their own channel.

Yep. As EP's and showrunners, Patricia Green and Rick Wallace were so bad that Kelley and Bochco had to return at mid-season as consultants. Then, Steven Bochco stayed on as EP (while Kelley left again) until the seventh season, when he hired "St. Elsewhere" vets John Masius & John Tinker to be the show's new showrunners. IIRC, they incorporated the L.A. riots into the storylines. Masius & Tinker were/are great writer/producers, but totally wrong for "L.A. Law." Subsequently, ratings were so bad that the show had to go on hiatus. William M. Finkelstein, who'd worked on the show during the Kelley era, was brought back to fix things. Finkelstein did improve "L.A. Law," but by that point, with so much cast turnover, I think viewers had moved on.
Thanks for the info. I can tell in Season 5 the turnover is about to begin with Sheila Kelley and Amanda Donohoe. While, five episodes in Abby (Michele Greene) gets the least focus (Although, I did enjoy the episode when she defends the couple who wants to send their adoptive son back into state custody.

I miss female scheming characters on soaps who were from a working class background who wanted more out of their typical lives no matter the cost. Now it seems everyone is either rich or no one wants any long-term personal and professional goals now. As well as troublemakers who add more to the canvas and not just said that they're because they might do something out of the ordinary too. The closest we have to that now on modern day soaps is Gwen from DAYS.
Characters for example
Rachel Davis - Another World
Erica Kane - All My Children
Nola Reardon - Guiding Light
Ava Rescott- Loving
Vicky Hudson - Another World
Kendall Hart - All My Children
Dinah Marler - Guiding Light

LA Law : Season 5
Something is telling me when David E. Kelley leaves this show is going to go to the pits.

I can't see Kassie DePaiva playing Eve during much of Charlotte Ross tenure. Well except for maybe hooking up with Nick and not getting along with Kimberly.

Barbara Crampton (Leanna) posted this throwback interview when she was on the show on IG.
