Not long ago Nancy Lee Grahn was on The View talking about Alexis being diagnosed with Osteoporosis, but instead alcoholism revisited has been her story.

That reminds me of Anna being diagnosed with polycythemia (rare blood cancer) that the show got their hands slapped because I think of the drug they were advertising. And now they rarely have Anna mention her disease.

They used the migraines/tumor to suggest Nora was driving the car the night Sarah was killed, and had blacked out. But I suspect it was always meant to be a red herring and obstacle for Bo and Nora, because the question of if she did it (and her believing she had) was a major plot point for months. So I don't consider that dropped.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I remember when Ron Carlivati was there they were rumors that he wanted to bring Serena back played by Carly Schroeder and Christina Baldwin back as well. Also, let's not forger the patient that Kevin had to rush back to Seattle to treat that mysterious patient. I heard a rumor it was supposed to be Christina, but it was dropped.

The teen quad of Molly/TJ/Rafe/Taylor ended quickly than anticipated. We had a forgettable recast Taylor and it seemed they were finally mentioning Rafe being a Barrington which was dropped when he was killed off too.

Let's not forget about Guza forgoing the initial Valentin Cassadine played by Matt Borlenghi for James Franco. And I don't know if it is true, but he was supposed to have a daughter named Mischa who was going to be paired up with Michael at the time too.

Wasn't Nora originally supposed to be the one who killed Sarah Gordon? And they were going to use the excuse of those migraines she used to have.

Tina and CJ was going to return in 2003 until it was scrapped.

About a year or so, I watched some GL episodes from '94 and it struck as sad how much Hamp had been marginalized by then and it only got worse after the departure of Kat.

Had Y&R not put Nathan through character assassination, Nathan Purdee probably could've been brought back some time in the last decade, provided the storyline were good (a big "if").

It seemed like they didn't know what to do Nathan on YR for the longest after Nathan Purdee left.

Thank God Kelly became a coke fiend!

Season 6 is pretty good, despite the loss of Charles Rosin. The first half is certainly propelled forward by the storylines he left in place and the great Toni story but once those stories wrapped up, things started flatlining a little bit. Thankfully, Kelly decided to "deviate her septum" and things are heating up.

And I've got to give Jennie Garth props. I used to be a little hard on her but she's doing wonderful work as an addict. It just feels real.

I'm curious on more of your thoughts on Season 6. I finished last summer myself and curious to see what you thought of it.

Same conversation, different day for Hope and Liam. They’ve got to figure out different ways for them to relate to each other. They’ve chosen not to dive much into character at all, and the constant plot summary in their dialogue is annoying.

I need Hope to gather some self-esteem and tell Liam how she really feel and that she doesn't have to keep putting up with his crap. I wish Paris would get out of "Segregation Corner" to befriend Hope to give her some advice about putting her and her child first over Liam.

Has JG given a proper interview about Y&R recently? I see Ron Carlivati and O’Connor/Van Etten doing press, but I don’t see JG out there much at all. Not that I expect the soap press to hold him accountable, but I’d love to hear what he thinks he’s doing. If he isn’t doing press, I’m curious about the reason.

I wonder the same exact thing too.

Not that the Kyle baby thing is some great gold, but they do tend to burn through any story that could conceivably provide drama while lingering on banal stuff like Victoria using her kids to manipulate Billy away from Lily. Kyle really shouldn’t know what Sally/Theo know this soon.

The old school soapy way would've been at some big event with half the town in attendance. I.e. Summer and Kyle's engagement. And then during the toast here comes in Theo and Sally with Kyle's baby mother who is probably going to be played by a former Daytime/Primetime soap star and the little boy. Havoc ensue.

Yes, the Sunny stuff happened in the spin-off "Sunny – Wer bist du wirklich?". They did a special flashback episode on GZSZ to summarize the events that happened on the spin-off.
Apparently, the spin-off was quite successful – I haven't watched it, though.

Meanwhile, UU is bringing back to characters from the distant past: Chris Weigel and his wife Corinna Weigel, née Bach. Both characters were part of the original cast back in November 1994. Played by Oliver Bootz and Cecilia Kunz, both Chris and Corinna were huge fan favorites.
Chris is the oldest son of Wolfgang and Irene Weigel (both deceased), the older brother of Till and Anna Weigel, the cousin of Paco Weigel, and half-brother to Rolf Jäger and Sina Uhland Hirschberger. At the beginning of the show, Chris was 19 years old and wanted to become a cop.
Corinna, a biology student, was one of the first residents in the attic apartment of Schillerallee 10 where she lived with her friends Jennifer Turner, Melanie Hoffmeister and Armin Franke. At the beginning of the show, Chris and Corinna were clearly interested in each other, but both turned to different partners. In the summer of 1997, however, they fell in love, and after some turmoil they left Cologne together to move to the Maledives where Corinna had found a research job.
At Christmas 1998, for the 1000th episode, Corinna returned for a brief guest appearance when the residents of Schillerallee 10 where held hostage by mobsters. In this difficult situation, Corinna gave birth to her and Chris's daughter Cäcilia. After that, Chris and Corinna hadn't been seen in over 22 years.

Now, the couple returns to Cologne to reunite with Chris's brother Till who's still living at Schillerallee 10.
Both characters have received a recast, though: Chris will now be played by Jan Ammann, and Corinna will be played by Nina Weisz. Joining them are their two children Cäcilia (played by Carina Koller) and Matteo (played by Jashan Gupta).

I agree. Seeing Theo today reminded of much I miss Y&R having a full time devious/sleazy character. Kyle lacks his dad’s “Smilin’ Jack” charm, Summer lacks her mother’s thunder etc.

Speaking of Theo, why wasn’t THAT secret found out about when Kyle & Lola were about to marry? Sheesh. Theo’s story reminded of that lousy soliloquy Sharon gave to Nick about the Sandra Anderson crap back under Pratt.

I now fully expect in three months some random second string actress like Kelly Rutherford pop up with Kyle’s love child.

I don't think Kelly Rutherford would be interested.

  11. On the last three episodes of Season 5 of LA LAW and I'm realizing the quality is already going down this season.

Let's put three new characters onto the series at the same time... Why?

I think I like Tommy the best so far. Zoey feels like she is replacing Grace by being the ADA with a social conscious and CJ is all right in some instances.

Though I did like the firm coming together when Benny had his mental breakdown.

Also, I see why Michele Green left this season. They hardly gave her anything but to be curious about pursuing something CJ.

Some of you insist that MO being capable of headlining romantic and/or business stories.  I just don't agree.

The Newman kids all feel pretty stuck right now. They need to really rethink that part of the canvas because it’s not working (and hasn’t in many, many years IMO).

This!!! Nick has no purpose but to play video games with Phyllis and try to convince Sharon they need to be softer on Faith. Nick... that didn't work when you were parenting Cassie in the last year of her life. How about meeting Sharon halfway with Faith. And Nikki is Miss Ellie from Dallas now.

Abby is the only Abbott-Newman kid whose existence has some kind of meaning. She should be driving story. I always thought that MO's Abby would be much better in a vixen role, getting involved with a married man and ruining his family. Think Kimberly Simms during the Roger/Alex drama or a new -less fragile- version of Ashley with Victor and Nikki.

I couldn't stand DG as Cane, but I could see Abby in a very dramatic affair with him during his marriage to Lily.
It's a pity that Y&R has no idea what to do with the Chancellor mansion. Jill should be living there. Alone.

I wish they would've done the Mindy Sue Lewis inspired storyline a few years ago. Abby works best if they actually tap into her corporate side. By getting her out of owning restaurants like she is Lisa Miller Grimaldi from As The World Turns. Have her go back to Newman to contend with Victoria and Adam for the throne of the company. But we know JG rather have Victoria being her only employee.
