  1. I wouldn't call that one storyline. That is, during the Who Shot Jake? storyline, Vicky was on Marley's side and was trying to protect her. It was I think only later when they decided to put Jake and Vicky back together that they really let Jake trample on Marley again as if he had never done anything wrong and given all the blondes plus Donna motive to kill him. Did Vicky have any beef with Marley between the trial and much much later when crazy Marley became obsessed with Jake? I know earlier Vicky and Marley were pitted against each other over Jake (and he was basically a decent guy even if Donna and his mother disapproved of him), or at least Vicky used underhanded tactics to try to hold on to Jake while Marley kept nobly trying not to steal her sister's boyfriend. Then later when Jake thought he was Steven's father Marley sided with Jake and was willing to raise Vicky's baby. I didn't have a problem with Jake surviving and I liked the part where he was blackmailing Paulina and she was fighting back. But deciding that he and Vicky should be endgame was yucky.
  2. It's one thing to support Trump. It's another to present yourself as (or to allow the media to identify you as) "undecided" in order to offset your bias and give weight to your pro-Trump opinion.
  3. The frame he presented before he asked for her opinion was specifically for why this debate had made them make a decision and she went on and on not mentioning the debate at all and asserting that her life had been so much better during his administration that obviously she preferred Trump. And the reporter didn't press her on anything about the debate, just confirmed with her that of course she had voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. But as soon as she started with something like this was a serious election to run the country and not who you would want in your bridal party I knew she was hopeless. CNN, if you're too gullible to keep die-hard decided plants out of your panels of undecided voters, at least be prepared to skewer them hard for being decided. Or maybe stop pretending they're undecided in the first place.
  4. I think the details here are wrong. This character is Jake's mother and her appearance was August 28th 1986, not a flashback but a meeting with Kathleen in a restaurant, and also at the time the character was known as Helen rather than Alice. The AWHP Minor Characters has an unnamed actor in a (sepia-toned!?) flashback in 1992, presumably related to the Kevin Anderson story, as "Alice McKinnon". She resembles Julie Osburn slightly but she wouldn't be related to Kathleen by blood. http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/minor4.html 1986 episode is here, Lucy Martin shows up about 18 minutes in. https://youtu.be/nqtzKhSiF2o?si=TdaLE5Cu9e2WREDs
  5. I saw her on CNN and it was very odd -- at times she seemed to be eager to paint Trump in a glowing light but she did admit that Trump essentially failed to have any real sympathy for Corey Comperatore -- he boasted of raising money for the family but had given no thought to why or how the loving God who had preserved Trump [*puke*] had allowed Comperatore to die. I had watched the segment because the way it was promoted I thought she was going to mention whether his ear showed any sign of injury but if she did I missed it.
  6. I was surprised recently to see a scene (sometime around the time Jenna had been humiliated by what is usually described as a "pornographic" video although as far as I know she was just changing her clothes) where Paulina and Kevin appeared to be involved as I had not remembered them together. It turned out that it was a ploy for some reason to annoy Jake. I note that in the interview Goodwin mentions (with relish) kissing Judi Evans at his audition for the Guiding Light although he did not work with her there.
  7. I notice that there were [at least?] two Sheriffs on Another World in 1985 -- one in Dry Creek Wyoming related to outstanding charges against Catlin, and one in Lassiter Pennsylvania related to charges against Victoria. Based on the episode below, the Lassiter sheriff must be Tom Brennan. Do we dare to make the inference (since I can't find the February episode(s) in Wyoming) that therefore Beeson Carroll must be the Dry Creek sheriff? Thanks for updating Carlo Rota, slick. I'm amazed at the amount of information you are managing so it's not surprising that errors may creep in. I'm definitely trying to help, not criticize in any way!
  8. On the other hand I think that we were supposed to find Paulina's love for Grant sincere, and once Ken Jordan was dispensed with, her motivation for wanting to be part of the Cory family focused on the emotional impact rather than the financial. She wasn't a saint but things like sacrificing Marley were more self-defense than malice. It was interesting to me how rapidly things changed with those 3 critical recasts all in the same year: Cali replaced by Judi, Anne replaced by Jensen, and Dack replaced by Mark Pinter. Paulina dropped Grant and then Vicky moved into his orbit where she remained for years. ETA: Did Paulina feel any kind of way about it when Grant married Vicky? Or when he married her half-sister Amanda after that?
  9. Tiny correction re: Carlo Rota -- it should be Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould.
  10. I know that version of the story and I'm trying to reconcile it with the fact that at least 6 months earlier one side or the other was planting stories that Judi could be on air by November. (I'd also heard a version that they had always wanted Judi as Paulina and just used Cali until Judi became available.) Maybe it was the show trying to drum up interest and they couldn't convince Judi until the next year? But I definitely also heard a rumour (that seemed to originate from Cali's side) not long after it happened that Cali wasn't happy and didn't like working with Tom Eplin and wanted to leave. ETA: In terms of the timeline, they revealed to the audience that it was Paulina who had shot Jake at the end of March 1991. Cali's last airdate was July 16. Judi's first was July 18.
  11. This story must be referring to Jake's shooting, right? So before October 1990 and well before the end of Anne Heche's contract. Cali remained in the role of Paulina as well until July 1991. If they wanted Judi it's too early for Vicky and for some reason they didn't replace Cali until around the same time they recast Vicky. It feels like they wanted Judi or she wanted something but it took them a while to figure out where to use her. I'm not sure I could picture Judi pulling off Vicky and Marley. Even for Vicky -- I'm not sure where the edge would come from.
  12. I'm just saying what I was told. And I am willing to believe that the show would invest in an expensive wig for one of their most high profile characters -- but also it really did come across onscreen as terrible. When Marley came back briefly to visit Vicky in her coma, they arranged Anne's hair to make it look like a different and shorter cut. But it was probably too precarious for everyday. I agree that a French braid or prim chignon would have been a better option than the wig. About 50 minutes in Marley arrives if you want to see the 'do in motion.
  13. I think Jensen's Marley typically had the bangs pinned back to differentiate her. Jensen's Vicky had the bangs down. I remember being assured that Anne Heche's Marley wig had been exceedingly expensive and was good quality. But it looked so STIFF and unconvincing next to Anne's own hair on Vicky.
  14. I was about to say that it could not be VW's fault that Justine had a hook for a hand, but then I thought I must be misremembering because there was a period when Justine took Rachel's place living with Carl and obviously he wouldn't just accept that Rachel was missing a hand with no explanation. But I guess the impersonation happened before the accident and it's all true.
  15. Just saw Laura Coates on CNN talking about Trump saying he doesn't think Kamala Harris is very bright and that she "loses her train of thought." I thought Coates' choice of words, referring to that as "the pot calling the kettle black" fell into a kind of both-sides trap. The pot and the kettle ARE both black. In this case Donald Trump rambles nonsensically and I can't think of a time Kamala Harris has seemed unfocused or distracted. Come on, Laura, just point out that Trump is just trying a rubber/glue defense, or that with him every accusation is a confession, and you'll be describing the situation accurately.
  16. Hm. Those look smaller -- I will have to see if I can find Jamie and Vicky's wedding reception where I think there are some good shots to compare. Maybe they are aesthetically similar but not identical?
  17. Yes! That's the Italian upload I was referring to when I mentioned the black & white tiles. The scenes with the party start about 40 minutes in. Funnily enough, Cass is Nicole's (then played by Kim Morgan Greene) escort. Based on the AWHP synopses and the presence of Roberta Flack and Louise Mandrell the events are probably during the week of November 14 1983. If you speak Italian I would love it if you could fill in some gaps. I can tell that the 1988 scenes are from May 4 & 5. Those whole episodes in English are ones that Eddie Drueding had uploaded to Youtube. The 1983/1984 episodes are a bit harder to date, partly because I don't speak Italian (I can pick out character names and words like "parlare", "andiamo", "ragazzo/ragazza", "te amo" but nothing subtle), partly because the AWHP synopses are weekly only for this period, and also because in some sections I can't pick out any major events. As far as I can tell all of the Destini (1983/84) scenes are from a period between November 1983 and March 1984. I have not been able to match these to other dated episodes on Youtube. I'm not sure if they are in strictly correct chronological order but they may be. The first hour looks like pieces of about 3 episodes from November 1983. Sofia Landon Geier appears as Jennifer Thatcher. Royal Dunning is also at the big party which seems to be in honour of Abel Marsh. Blaine and Sandy get a clue about Catlin from an envelope where the return addressee is A.C. Moore. (Apparently this predates the arts & crafts retail chain which was founded in 1985 and was liquidated in 2020.) The second hour has MJ, a phone message from Uncle Kevin Fowler, Judy Dewey as Blaine presenting baby Alex to Mac after Mac's recovery from his plane crash, and Peter apparently proposing to a feverish Cecile, so it seems to be the week of February 20 1984. Kelsey Grammer appears as Cecile's doctor at about 1:58. Quinn is somehow taken aback by the meal she ordered at Leo's club, but I cannot tell why. I cannot place the section between 2:00 and 2:12 other than it must be February 13 1984 or later since it includes Judy Dewey, and since Quinn seems on edge when Larry drops by it is presumably before her stalker is identified and captured in late March. If only I had run away from home and learned Italian when Destini was broadcast.
  18. That reminds me that I think it was in the Italian video, I was confused about why the big party that Roberta Flack and Louise Mandrell attended seemed to be at the Cory mansion, but I subsequently realized that that set was not the Corys' at the time but those black and white tiles were incorporated into the Corys' a few years later.
  19. I probably didn’t enjoy that as much as I could have because my immediate reaction was to think about her murder. "oh, Julia, you will get to visit New York all too soon." I don't remember Kyra Sedgwick's Julia as clearly but I suspect she was less naive.
  20. I didn't mind Paulina with Joe. Even when she had a lot going on in her life and even though he had his issues he was more supportive and less likely to commit crimes than Jake or Ian Rain or late stage Grant. Funnily enough if Judi had been playing Nancy instead of Paulina maybe I would have been less enthusiastic about the idea of her settling down with Joe. I didn't mind Jake as the villain manipulating Paulina post-coma, but I don't think they put him through the right wringer to justify his redemption and put him back together with Vicky. It was one thing that he had dumped her to marry Marley when they were 18, or that he had had that affair with Donna that time. It was quite another the way he treated Vicky when he thought he was Steven's father, raped Marley, stalked and harassed Marley when he was engaged to Jamie, and probably some other things I can't think of. I don't even really remember how they made the transition in Vicky's love life from Shane/Bobby to Jake as if they had always been meant to be together but I don't think he made proper amends with her and certainly not Marley.
  21. I did not know that! I was presuming that he was pandering to an evangelical protestant audience and didn't know his religion was anything else. Thanks for the correction. That makes his position even more disgusting and bizarre, and I was already plenty disgusted.
  22. I don't know what his personal feelings are but I just assume that whatever opinion he spouts is to curry favour with unreasonable voters. Evangelical protestants don't have celibate clergy so why not throw in an anti-Catholic bias?
  23. I liked Anna Holbrook as Sharlene with everyone. She grounded so much that could have been unconvincing. I liked her with Rambo (although I wanted Sharlene to stay with John) but I also liked his Grant with Cali Timmins' Paulina. In a way I am glad that Paulina was recast before her story with Jake became a love match. I enjoyed Cali Timmins when she still hated Jake and did her best to push back against him and I am not so sure I would have enjoyed the transition from hate to love.
  24. I had been thinking of Linda since someone pointed out that she had not released a new episode of her podcast recently. I see she did post regarding John Aprea's death on her instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/C-3U4L5RTEs/?igsh=dDdicXRrOWVobWx4
  25. Came across these scenes between Sally (Mary Page Keller) and Julia (Faith Ford). The second scene must be from early July 1983 because Sally just came home from a date chez Peter that was interrupted by the first appearance of Nicole (Kim Morgan Greene). Julia and Gil had been to Chicago to see Leo Mars perform. The first scene must actually be later, probably early-ish in 1984 since Sally is apparently engaged to David and trying to figure out how to protect Kevin. I do like the fact that Sally is not really deluding herself about being in love with David -- she knows that her motivation is Kevin.
