  1. Looks like Billy Mitchell has a 35 year old son. http://www.tvtv.co.uk/tvtv/web/programdetails.vm?programmeId=47349608&lang=en&epgView=list&groupid=0&tref=Program
  2. Yes, she looks like a relative of Sherk's, and the show gave her love interests that were often way out of her league over the years. Not to mention, she became entirely useless and developed such a grating and unpleasant personality over time.
  3. Carl, did you ever think keeping Sonia on the show for as long as they did made Carol look like a bad and neglectful mother who favoured only certain children of her's? I mean, seeing how protective she is of Billie and how worried she can be about Bianca now really makes you wonder. There were years when Sonia was on the show and Carol was never even mentioned. Like, where was she when a teenage Sonia had given birth not even knowing she was pregnant? I don't ever recall a phone call or mention of Carol during that era. Granted, I am not a Sonia fan and never want to see her on the show again, but it really makes you wonder when her mother is on the show now and she isn't. I guess it was all down to Lindsey Coulson being "done" with the show after she left. I heard she had no intention of coming back and for years wanted to get away from Carol Jackson, which made it a surprise when she returned earlier this year. The only time I want Sonia back is if they decide to kill off Jim. Let's face it, he more or less raised her and she's by far his favorite grandchild.
  4. BBC America was so much better in those early days, they've gotten too commercialized now and I can barely watch most of what they consider "quality programming." I think BBC America yanked the show just a few weeks or months before Den's flop return. Another thing about the 00-02 era, I think it was really the last time you could feel a lot of heart in the show, and the Slater's were a big reason for that. They loved and supported each other like crazy, and they had such a believable and intense family chemistry.
  5. I think the John Yorke era (00-02) was a great time to get back into the show, even if you missed a few years. Even though I had seen a lot of 90's stuff on PBS, they were so far behind the UK broadcast, that it was almost a different show than what was going on at the same time in the then current UK broadcast. I think BBC America was like either 2 weeks or 2 months behind the UK broadcast when they aired the show, so it was almost like the real thing - experiencing the show almost on par with the UK audience. In the early 00's, there was such an energetic and positive buzz about the show, and they accomplished so much in such a short amount of time in their storylines and characterizations. I guess the closest I can compare it to was the Curlee years on GL, just how like 1992 was one of those peak years for GL where there was so much good, I think 2001 was one of those brilliant years for EE. I don't think any soap since has come has close to the general consistency, positive buzz, ratings momentum that EE had in that early 00's era. Thanks for the compliment on the Slater sisters avatar. Too bad there aren't any pics with Belinda and the rest of the sisters. The funny thing is, though the Slater's dominated so much of the early 00's, and they were still quite new, I never got the feeling that these "newbies were taking over the show." They just fit into the fabric of the show so seamlessly, and John Yorke and Tony Jordan worked so hard to establish them with the existing veteran characters. I still have yet to see a new family on any soap fit in as well. I think almost every story in the John Yorke years and early Louise Berridge era had some Slater family member involved. At least in the show's recent years, I still hold that 00-02/03 is by far the best era for the show, and probably for all British soaps, with the 03-05/06 era of Corrie in a close second.

  10. Jean and Billy kiss in Monday's episode. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ_SY65Elzw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ_SY65Elzw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ_SY65Elzw?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
  11. Have they ever done flashbacks? The only time I can remember are the episodes where Dot visits Wales to see the woman who took care of her during the war, and we saw some flashbacks of Dot as a little girl. Those were great episodes. I think made up flashbacks were also used when Nana Moon and Alfie went to Normandy. Not sure on that one though.
  12. After today's episode, it seems like Max and Tanya are over and they've accepted each other as only parents to their kids. I think they're off that merry-go-round for now, at least. Max looked as if he couldn't care less about Tanya, and was preoccupied with thinking about Vanessa for most of the episode. At first I thought Vanessa and Max just used one another as f.uck buddies, but I think there's been a lot of depth poured into them recently. I think Vanessa sees and accepts Max for what he is, which Tanya can't do, and she doesn't want to change him, she just wants him to face who he is.
  13. In his charter profile, they also list a mother. Have they done character profiles for very short term characters in the past? I wonder if his stay has been extended. http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/characters/greg-jessop.shtml
  14. Have they specified how long he'll be on? I heard they were using him on recurring basis for now, and weren't sure how long he'd be on or if his stay will be extended. There's still the possibility his stay will be extended, I guess it depends if the character takes off or not.
  15. Today's episode: I really enjoyed it. It seems like the show is over the Max/Tanya merry-go-round and is progressing them into different orbits and their only real ties to one another are through their children. I think it was a good writing move to have Tanya to be the one to bring Max and Vanessa back together. That scene where Vanessa told Max that what he sees right in front of him is all that's pretty much left of her and and he sarcastically tells her he's seen worse and then picks up her up and they kiss was very sweet. Greg is way too hot for Tanya, and I like him so far. He seems like just a regular bloke. I had to laugh at Max and Greg thinking each other was gay when they were with Alfie in the Vic's storage room. I liked Lauren and Tanya's scenes. Is it me or does it seem like Phil is back to his early/mid 90's incarnation? That was his best incarnation IMO. It's nice that they had Kat and Bianca bonding towards the end of the episode, and I could see where after a rough start they'd eventually get along. Kat looked like she wanted to faint when Alfie introduced Michael. I'm guessing he's the one that knocked her up? While I'm not always a big fan of those stories, I'm interested in seeing where this one goes. We don't know too much about Michael and the actor looks very convincing, so I'm interested in knowing what his relationship with Kat is all about. That tacky car Kat and Alfie rode off with in Christmas 2005 is back! Oh, and the kid playing Oscar Branning is just adorable.
  16. I'm surprised they've done one of these "a day in the life" videos with the new Lauren: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3lHBttJl_c?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3lHBttJl_c?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3lHBttJl_c?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
  17. Charlie Brooks says, "Janine will be nastier than ever." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a279696/ee-janine-will-be-nastier-than-ever.html
  18. Today's episode: I'm not surprised everyone was watching Stacey beating the hell out of Janine and doing nothing about it. Almost the entire square has reason to hate Janine, and she knew no one but Pat would come over to stop things, so she had ample chance to set Stacey up convincingly. What surprised me most about the fight was when Stacey punched Janine and said, "And this is for Danielle!" It's about time someone other than Ronnie remembered her and how Janine had no remorse for hitting and killing her with the car and went around gloating about it months after it happened. But really, after she pushed over the tram and didn't care if Lily was in it on Tuesday, Janine did deserve to get her ass kicked a little bit... So glad Zsa Zsa and Leon are gone. Emer Kenny was just horrific in that scene where she kicked Leon out of Fatboy's truck. The last scene between her and Shirly was nice though, as was Leon's goodbyes to Fatboy and Mercy. I won't be sad to see these trolls gone though. The Kat and Shirley meeting scene was great, and I can see where they would get along. I've been saying for months that the way they've dressed Shirley sometimes is very Kat Slater-esque. It was also nice to see Kat's softer side today, and the genuine love she has for Alfie. Though, it did seem to come overnight, as she wasn't pissed at him today. Kat and Phil have always seemed to have a very passive dislike for one another. You can tell they don't think much of one another, but unlike themselves, they don't really bother to express it outwardly. It's funny how Alfie tried to hide leasing the Vic from Phil and not actually buying it, and I'm glad Kat wasn't angry with him over it by the end. Poor Max is dominated by all the women in his life, like today with his daughters.
  19. It is apart of Janine's plan. Janine knew Stacey would react this way, so she set her up so she could report Stacey to the police and possibly get Lily taken away from her.
  20. Haven't seen today's episode yet, but I hear Stacey beating the sh!t out of Janine was pretty graphic and upset some people.
  21. Spoilers for the week of October 18th:
  22. Apparently, next Wednesday's episode is an hour long episode. Which is smart, since it's Wednesday and it's an hour long, they won't clash with EastEnders, and since the stunt is being promoted, it may mean a significant ratings bump for the night.
  23. Of course The Archers is still produced today in the UK, here if the official website from the BBC, where you can listen to new episodes daily and read about the history of the show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/
