  1. It looks like they're introducing a new group of characters. Maybe to fill the void of the Wylde's? Probably not a family unit though, just random new characters.
  2. Apparently, there's some big casting announcements that will be announced at midnight, UK time. http://twitter.com/#!/SuseHill/status/25883874008
  3. Zsa Zsa and Leon's last episode is Thursday. They leave separately though... I wonder if they' ll even bother having Zsa Zsa say goodbye to Shirley...
  4. Today's episode: Kat (to Janine): This is Ryan's an' all! Janine was great in today's episode, it totally felt like the character was back in her golden era of 2001-2004. She would react this way to finding out about Lily. I think they're building to the older and more sinister Janine coming back. Ryan was vile to Stacey and Lily, but I guess he didn't mean anything he said. It's good that they had Stacey tell him about how Lily would wonder about where her father is and how there would be a void in her life, since Stacey lost her father at a young age. It's totally Kat to stick up for Stacey against Janine. Though, I do think they're kind of trying to build sympathy for Alfie at Kat's expense in a way, by having her constantly ordering him around and being pissed at him, though a lot of that was played for comedy. Good to see Pat support Janine. Nice that they remembered that Alfie and Patrick knew each other well. I wonder why they haven't done a scene between Alfie and Ian yet, since they were quite close, but I guess that's to come. I'm liking new Lauren so far, and I thought she had great sisterly chemistry with Abi today. I can finally buy Lauren as Abi's big sister. The Fatboy and Grace scenes were nice, I'm surprised they didn't have Dot console Fatboy, since they've gotten close.
  5. Shirley and Kat meet on Thursday. I hear they eventually become friends of some sort. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z-4Yn6sY7M?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z-4Yn6sY7M?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z-4Yn6sY7M?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> I do hope we get to see other facets of Kat. EastEnders always seems to have female characters yelling and getting into arguments with everyone when they return, like they did with Bianca previously.

  10. Today's episode had a nice flow with so many stories and characters going on. I like new Lauren and think she worked well with Max and Tanya today. Lauren finally looks like Abi's older sister now. While she was never that close to Max, I can see why she's with him and not with Tanya regarding the reasons for why she was expelled from school. I think Max may be genuinely falling in love with Vanessa. Those scenes with Stacey switching from being happy to dour were well done. It's how a lot of bipolar people are. I think Kat and Alfie's return has brought back some genuine laughter to Stacey's personality again. Of course seeing Ryan again was going to crush that. Stacey's scenes with Max were also well done, and it's nice they're at a place where they can just be friends without all the baggage. I had to laugh at Janine's pregnancy joke, she really had them all fooled. That was a nice little moment when Charlie brought in Kat's leather (as if Kat would wear anything else!) jacket for her to wear. We're not getting much insight into Kat yet, but I think it's intentional since she's the focal point of an upcoming story. The scenes in the Slater kitchen with Big Mo's underwear were funny. Kat and Alfie have brought back a playfulness to that house, too bad we're losing most of the Slater's left by the end of the year. I didn't mind Fatboy and Leon today, they were pretty entertaining. Mercy and Grace were too. Anyway, it was a pretty entertaining episode overall.
  11. Alfie is unable to raise the money, so Andy threatens to kill him unless Kat sleeps with him. A reluctant Kat does so, but unbeknown to her Andy tapes the liaison and sends it to Alfie. Alfie becomes cold and distant whilst Kat resorts to alcoholism. After a one-night stand with a stranger, a disgusted Kat leaves Walford. Big Mo would track Kat down a few months afterwards. I think a lot of them were very well done and had interesting concepts at the time. I remember seeing the two-hander between Dot and Den, I thought it was a really cleaver idea. Here's a list of all the two/three/four handers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EastEnders_two-hander_episodes
  12. I just watched that and the Kat and Alfie two-hander following the reveal. That whole story angle was so trashy and such an American soap storyline. Something Sheffer, Guza, and Higley would do and pull out of their ass. Louise Berridge's era seemed to be filled with these really unpleasant plot devices. I guess I understand why Shane said that Alfie was probably so popular at the time because the show was filled with gangsters and hardmen, and Alfie was just a regular nice guy who loved Kat unconditionally. I hate stories like this when the woman has to sleep with another man in order to protect her husband's life, and then the woman ends up getting crapped on by both her husband and the guy who forced her into having sex with him. Shane and Jessie did some of their best work in that two-hander though. I hadn't seen it before, and of course Tony Jordan wrote it. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gyj18dpHFE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gyj18dpHFE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gyj18dpHFE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFeTBXiZ0Gs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFeTBXiZ0Gs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFeTBXiZ0Gs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GvHIiAA5o4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GvHIiAA5o4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GvHIiAA5o4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
  13. The person who runs a soap magazine in the UK called Inside Soap and posts on that magazine's official Twitter said this is the pic they hang in their office so they can all look at it every single day.

  15. Have you seen this from 2003? http://www.kalfievideostorage.talktalk.net/singing2.wmv At least we know Louise Berridge had a sense of humour about things. I can't imagine Santer or Kirkwood agreeing to be apart of one of these sketches.

  18. Someone said Charlie is leaving at the end of the year, and it looks like Stacey and Jean's exit was extended with sources saying they're leaving in early 2011.
  19. Belinda was mentioned on the show a few weeks ago when Stacey said Charlie and Big Mo were off to visit her. So, I think they still remember her, but strangely left her out of the Slater's recap. I guess because she was never a major contract character. I do still think they could have her occasionally pop up to visit Kat and Big Mo in the future though. Both Kacey Ainsworth and Elaine Lordan (Lynne) were spotted at Elstreet recently. Maybe Charlie dies or they might be just having a family reunion without Zoe? Or it could be nothing or a Holby audition.
  20. Just watched the Kat and Alfie Reveaked special - "Kat and Alfie's Return." It was one of the best revealed specials they've done in a while and didn't go too far off topic like other specials have in recent history. With the exception of that part in the middle about the behind the scenes stuff regarding the Vic fire, it was all about Kat and Alfie and their history on the show - both as a couple and as individual characters. Simon Ashdown, Gillian Richmond, Tony Jordan, John Yorke, and Bryan Kirkwood all took part in the commentary. As for current castmembers, Lacey Turner, Derek Martin, Rita Simons, and Perry Fenwick all gave commentary. They talked about about the Slater family and all the original sisters, as well as the Moon family. Lacey said how great it was to have more people in the Slater house, since that house hadn't been as busy in recent years. John Yorke said the Michelle/Den story and the secret over Vicky's conception is the best temple for secrets and reveals that EastEnders could use. He said they thought of that slow-burn story and reveal when they came up with the Kat/Zoe story. Tony Jordan said it really broke his heart to write Kat and Alfie's first marriage breakup. You could tell how much he still loved them and how proud he and Yorke still are for creating the Slater's. They talked a bit about the Andy Hunter saga. I always found Andy very sexy, and often wondered why Kat would choose Alfie over him, even if he did basically rape Kat later on with that money fiasco. A lot of great behind the scenes stuff regarding the Vic fire too. I think anyone who isn't very familiar with the characters should watch this special, and it's a great recap for those who know a lot about the characters and their interactions.
  21. This Morning doesn't do call-ins when they do interview, do they? Fans can submit questions though, but the show screens them so they aren't too crazy. You know they screened a lot of those questions when Santer went on the show from the obsessed Danielle/Ronnie fans. The Rack fans are always bitching about something, so nothing new there.
  22. Digital Spy has always been that way, even in 2007-2009. It's a bit like SOC where all the rabid fanbases gather and hate on everything because it isn't flashy enough, or because their personal faves aren't getting the major focus. There always seems to be a big thing that no one is killed off when they exit there.
  23. I think Janine, Ryan, and Stacey dominate next week, so they'll be getting all the cliffhangers surely.
  24. It's not the most duffs duffs in general, it's the most consecutive duff duffs, which she's tied with Zoe (who got 5 consecutive cliffhangers in 2005). I'm surprised Alfie didn't get a duff duff this week, but whatever. I guess they gave her all the duff duffs this week because she's a more iconic character than Alfie and it's their return week.
  25. The first time we learned that Kat was Zoe's mother, 8 months or so before the big "You ain't my Muvther!" ..... "YES I AM!!!" and Harry reveal at Lynne's hen night. The day of Zoe's 17th birthday party, Kat feels like trash, and she and Charlie come to blows and open up about it about 7:57 in: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8vl2G_Y1BA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8vl2G_Y1BA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8vl2G_Y1BA?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
