The Madonna Thread
I got my pre-sale tickets today, really good seats too. I'll be seeing her in NYC at Yankees Stadium.

I think Chrissie did like Sharon, and even after Sharon punched her in the face for killing Den, she still wanted Sharon's forgiveness (which she never got). Even though she was a murderer, Chrissie was as much as victim as she was a villian.

Britney's production and costumes are very much on par with Katy and Rihanna's these days, and I don't think Ke$ha has ever headlined anything substantial yet. Kylie Minogue, who is a nobody in the US, has better stages and better costumes than Britney. Britney's stage is very basic, as are her recycled moves she's calling dance routines these days. The choreography is very basic at her shows, and she has absolutely no passion for dance anymore. There's nothing to be in awe of at her shows anymore, and we know she won't do much live singing. She's very much a hot mess in concert these days, IMO.

To be fair, on the topic of Britney, her shows haven't been spectacles in a decade, and she doesn't even really dance anymore. The production values overall are pretty terrible on her show when compared to others. Rihanna does attempt a good amount of live singing, though she is terrible at it, and she can't really dance and doesn't pretend to.

Her stage has to be the most elaborate stage in Super Bowl history, it was an amazing technical achievement. The woman can entertain, love her or hate her, she works hard to put on an entertaining show. Unlike many others who could have phoned it in and live off of past performance routines.

Having been to her past 3 tours, I can tell you that only 10% of her shows are lipsynched. The majority of her songs are a mixture of live/pre-recorded vocals. Anyone who has seen her show live can attest to this. Every pop artist lipsyncs, but she's done it much less that other dance/pop acts in her category. For the Super Bowl performance, Vogue was clearly lipped, but the others were partly live and partly pre-recorded. When you consider that she's over 50 and sings a good amount of her songs live with choreography, those who are younger like Britney and lipsync 90% of their shows with basic choreography have no excuse.

That 1989 Express Yourself VMA performance seems to have grown in popularity over the past few years. Ten yeasts ago, if you asked people to name their favourite Madonna VMA performance, they probably would have said Vogue in 1990 (which was shamelessly lipsynced) or Like A Virgin from 1984

This is one of the most uneducated ones. Despite not having a spectacular live voice, Madonna rarely lipsyncs, unlike many pop performers from her generation and generations after her.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
They can never tell the Mark Fowler, Jr story without Michelle (and Sue Tully), it wouldn't have any impact or make any sense without her being there. I think it will be a dropped plot forever, unless Sue Tully decides she wants to come back and start acting again. There's a better chance of Ross Kemp coming back as Grant though, but that won't probably be for a while. Sharon is the love of Grant's life and he never got over her, but the same can apply to Phil. If the show ended tomorrow, they would probably have to reunite Sharon and Grant and have them running the Vic together. Sharon would be Courtney's surrogate mother, and Grant would be little Dennis' surrogate father. But, I think Sharon got over the Mitchell's and moved on from them in a way they haven't been able to do with her. Grant and Phil will always be a big part of her life and the connection will always exist, but she's evolved past them. I think it's best to concentrate other areas of Sharon's character and not her love life until she settles down after a while. I, for one, hope Sharon's return is a catalyst for bringing Chrissie back eventually, if only for a short-term stint. There's a lot of mileage left in Sharon, she's a very adaptable character.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I hope they don't overdo the Tragedy Queen/Black Widow thing with Sharon this time, which was getting tiring during the end of her last stint. That said, this is a nice montage video of it. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KakyNEzJKBA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I believe Sharon still owns the Bookies, which she left Pat in charge of while she was gone, but that seems forgotten now and Pat is dead. So, I wonder if she somehow buys The Vic from underneath the Michelle's again, or if she'll buy the club from Janine and turn it into Angie's Den again. I think Sharon worked best in the club during her last stint. Also, Little Dennis is an American, so let's hope they can find a young American actor, so we can avoid another Vicky Fowler situation. Though, his accent change would be more believable than her's, as he'll be 6 when she comes back with Sharon. On the topic of Vicky, I wonder if they'll recast and have her join Sharon eventually. We know Michelle returning will never happen. Of course, there's Sharon also exploring her biological family again, and she does have biological half-siblings she's never met.

Probably the most fun she's had in a video since the 90's, and probably her best video in a decade.

I think Jessie is on a 3 month leave and will start filming again in April. Kat will probably return just before Sharon.

Letitia won't start filming until May, so I guess she won't be on-screen until August/September. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2095228/Letitia-Dean-return-EastEnders-Sharon-Watts.html

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Corrie rarely does these specials when a character leaves, but they did one for Becky. Despite the character being trash for a while, I must admit that in her exit there was some charisma there and barring the horrible story surrounding it, it was well done. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qwIAUksEXqk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I simply never and will never understand the Matt/Vanessa pairing. I think it was an early example of JFP trying to live out her own fantasies vicariously through characters on her shows. She later did it with Vicki and Nora on OLTL. There's an article from 1992 where Maureen Garrett talks about how much better the production values are on the show than when she first joined. They credit JFP for a lot of it. http://articles.lati..._cbs-soap-opera

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
So many soaps have tried to have their own Roger/Holly, but its never worked Something was unique about those two, and one dynamic that was never ever replicated on soaps again. It was partly the actors and the writing, but there was just a very unique spark between those characters. I could watch them do anything. I can't wait for the Mo Garrett interview. Other than that boring pairing with Fletcher, I can't remember what Holly did in 1996, which was a terrible year for the show.
