So many jokes were made about that at the time. For obvious reasons. LOL! RuPaul called it "You Light Up My Pipe."

It's weird that this video had a Judy Garland/Over The Rainbow theme. Whitney's life and downfall eerily resembles Judy's in a way. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/aA9mmz508Ro" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Her last top 30 hit (not counting the re-release of The Star Spangled Banner, which peaked at #6). <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/m9EyEW6xPNM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Queen of the Night was clearly inspired by En Vogue!

I've never liked I Will Always Love You and I Have Nothing - overplayed and overrated. Out of The Bodyguard songs, Run To You and Queen of the Night were the best, IMO. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h9rCobRl-ng" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rFcnGLFGbL8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

No shame in posting it, you know you've made it when you've been parodied. Probably the funniest one was this: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/stluj3krlP8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Probably the best of the crap soundtrack singles she was releasing in the late 90's was her cover of Annie Lennox's Step By Step: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sWa5vE4MUpU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Whitney and George Michael: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7EjfbyCpAxA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

We can't discuss the goodness of sell-out era Whitney without this gem: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0YjSHbA6HQQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

One of her forgotten singles is Love Will Save the Day, which went to #9 in the US and #10 in the UK. It's uptempo. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/uEQ4yAFiJkY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YS6swVDspEI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Only Madonna and Mariah have more number one singles in the rock era among solo women than Whitney. 7 of Whitney's #1 hits were consecutive, which is a record she holds to this day.

The UK/European version is vastly superior to the crap that was released in the US.

Whitney was American's sweetheart and pop-princess. The anti-Madonna, who parents never thought was a good role-model for their children for obvious reasons. Pop icons from the 80's all had something different to contribute to the landscape of the pop charts, unlike today where I can't tell most of them apart.

I loved sell-out Whitney. LOL It's a good thing Clive Davis forced her to go pop, instead of the gospel-tinged R&B Whitney originally wanted to do. Had she gone down that path, she probably wouldn't have made an impact.

Despite HATING the message in this song (which is an anti-abortion song), I always liked Miracle if I took it out of context. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZAdi3LIW898" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's sad that out of the really big music icons from the mid-80's that I grew up with and had longevity in their careers that Madonna has seemingly been the only one that's kept her life together. I guess Prince too, but he's always been such a recluse. Pop icons from the mid-80's were so over the top and more than just artists to those of us who grew up with them, they were big cultural figures whose influence extended into many different areas.

The remixes saved the My Love Is Your Love singles (and album) from being flops, and most of the remixes have outlived the original versions from that album. The extended version is even better. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MSOWUwRFwi0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

^Angela, did you have to post the bland original R&B version of It's Not Righrt But It's OK? LOL It's all about the Thunderpuss remix, which made it the dance anthem of summer 1999! LOL It's one of those rare cases where the remix became more popular than the original version. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TrJ73Fu8PlE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

When it was great, that voice would make you stop and listen ... it could melt butter. Two of my favourite live vocal performances of her's: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tYFHAvULvJ0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/A-JBT9SLHPc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's sad, but not totally unexpected. Her life was a trainwreck for a long time. She tried to get herself together, but like many, the relapses ultimately won out. RIP, she was an amazing pop vocalist in her prime.

Garry did find out, I can't remember how though. It always seemed like Lynne/Garry had a variation of the same storyline with different interlopers during Lynne's time on the show. I always thought Elaine Lordan was an underrated actress, and Lynne was the most under-appreciated of the original Slater's.

There were a lot of reports in 2003/2004 that Louise Berridge wanted to write Pat out, but wasn't allowed. Berridge denied this, but I don't think she really cared for Pat. When watching the 2003/2004 episodes on PBS, Pat is rarely on, and when she is, she feels like a gloried dayplayer who supports that pest Laura, and criticizes Janine.

A nice episode from the short-lived Butcher era of the Vic, with Pat behind the bar. Den's in trouble, and some nice individual scenes Sharon has with him, Pat, and Michelle. I always wondered why they seemed to drop Sharon's friendship with Pat during Sharon's return stint in the 00's. She was always very close to Pat in the 80's and 90's, but they rarely interacted much in the 00's. Then again, it seemed like they were phasing out Pat from 2003 onwards. They seemed to build a relationship with Sharon and Pauline, who were never all that close in the 80's and 90's despite their connection to Michelle. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YIWJnJvXPS8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/te4SN0NdWiM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W1bjpt5n1n0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
