  1. Was Robyn Crawford at the funeral? http://www.dailymail...n-Crawford.html ETA: Apparently, she wasn't even invited.
  2. God, I hope this isn't true... http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/houston_getting_report_kristina_9skdt65yQzE9RHuC7WxFGO
  3. The UK media has always had a love/hate relationship with her (mostly hate) over the years. Things seemed to quiet down a bit when she settled down with Guy and moved to London. Then when they divorced and she moved back to NYC full-time, and her love affair with the UK seemed to have stalled, they turned on her again.
  4. I almost feel embarrassed to admit I'm listening to this. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2ggzxInyzVE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  5. Charlie Brooks is taking a 6 month break, there's rumous she wants to commit to doing Strictly Come Dancing during her break. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5h7F0pUF7HawTf1t1FP0lWRIrKqVQ?docId=N0580931329471883880A This is sad news, as Janine has become the best character on the show, but at least charlie is coming back. If done properly, her exit (before she comes back) could be good.
  6. Aretha and Stevie Wonder are singing at the funeral, and other stars will be in attendance: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/whitney-houstons-star-studded-funeral/story?id=15697203#.Tz3QvFxSSTl
  7. http://www.billboard...006203552.story Madonna Scores Record-Extending 38th Hot 100 Top 10 February 15, 2012 By Gary Trust, New York Almost 30 years after her arrival on Billboard's charts, Madonna continues to feel L-U-V from her fans. On this week's Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, her latest single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'," featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., bounds 13-10 in its second chart week. The first single from Madonna's 12th studio album, "MDNA," due March 26 (which sports an "L-U-V, Madonna!" cheerleader chant), becomes her 38th Hot 100 top 10, pushing her further ahead of runners-up the Beatles (34). Madonna first reached the chart's top tier the week of June 16, 1984, when "Borderline" rose to its No. 10 peak. She had last ranked in the region with "4 Minutes," featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, the week of June 28, 2008. Here is a look at the artists with the most top 10 songs in the Hot 100's 53-year history: 38, Madonna 34, the Beatles 28, Michael Jackson 28, Stevie Wonder 27, Mariah Carey 27, Janet Jackson 27, Elton John 25, Elvis Presley (whose career predates the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception) 23, Whitney Houston 23, the Rolling Stones As previously reported, "Luvin'" jumps 7-6 on the Digital Songs survey with 165,000 downloads sold (up 44%) in the list's tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The period encompassed the first full week following Madonna's performance of the song at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on Feb. 5. The track slides, however, 28-59 on the Radio Songs chart (20 million audience impressions, down 54%, according to Nielsen BDS). "Luvin'" had benefitted last week from special promotion on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment's more than 50 monitored pop stations, which played it at the top of every hour from Friday, Feb. 3, at 9 a.m. ET until the big game's kickoff. Check billboard.com tomorrow (Feb. 16), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 in its entirety and the Digital Songs and Radio Songs charts, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday.
  8. It's long been alleged that Whitney was doing drugs before Bobby, it just intensified with him in the picture. I think Quincy Jones recently said something to that effect as well.
  9. Does Tyler Perry have to be associated with every damn thing?
  10. Love this Euro-trash take on How Will I Know: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AFHIvphBKG0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Of course, part of the song was also used in this Euro-trashterpiece: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Yos4iNlTs4Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  11. A totally meaningless list, given a lot of the artists on it and VH1's reputation, but Madonna is #1 on their 100 Greatest Women In Music list, which focuses on women who are successful from 1990 onward (though many on the list, like Madonna, pre-date the 90's). The special airs all throughout this week, and I'm sure it will be repeated a million times after that. http://www.vh1.com/m...-complete-list/
  12. Given Wendy and Whitney's complicated history, I thought I'd share... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1jtGLFTrIiE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  13. Let's not forget there was a huge backlash against Whitney in the late 80's within the black community/urban radio. Starting with her sophomore album, Whitney's songs were exclusively promoted to top 40/pop formats, not R&B radio. In fact, her sound had become entirely pop-based on her sophomore album and Whitney would only go to pop outlets to promote it. They tried to bridge the gap with her I'm Your Baby Tonight album with very mixed results. Hence, why this travesty was released as a single (and flopped hard): <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/r6qsoP75y4Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  14. Many have alleged over the years that Robyn is the love of Whitney's life, and that she only married Bobby to prove her "street credibility" and her "straightness."
  15. Whitney clearly lost her voice after 2000 or so, when the drug use became more and more apparent and more out of control. You could tell that not only did she not take care of it, but she had lost all passion for signing.
  16. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BR7CCQ2QAKE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  17. Barbra Streisand had this to say about Whitney today, and I couldn't help but agree:
  18. I posted Madonna's Rockumentary in her thread, here is Whitney's. Back when MTV had music-related content: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/AwzAP_U5oXc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/X6Tjnb9o5To" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zzgQwGDgzMQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  19. Remember Rocumentary? I loved that show, it was like a pre-cursor to Behind The Music. Back when MTV was watchable. I remember how everyone used to joke that the 'M' in MTV stood for Madonna, and really it was kind of true. She dominated the channel during its music era, and her popularity rose with that of the network's. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yN29wG5fzGM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Jqslm2nwPRo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hGyhGOS3jsc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TBAHepBoAU8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  20. Seriously, the era of 80's/early 90's pop icons is very special to me. People like Michael, Madonna, Prince, Whitney, George Michael, and Janet weren't just your averagerun of the mill pop star, they were inescapable and you couldn't help but stop and watch/notice them for one reason or another. That was the last great era of pop artists, and I don't care if that makes me sound old.

  22. It always takes death of a famous artist to get them to play videos again.
  23. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/klKtmCTNfXc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  24. Whitney's first Grammy performance, and 4:55 in as Dionne is ready to present her with a Grammy. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2dZISK3xcAc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  25. I believe filming wrapped not too long ago.
