  1. Hot Pie!
  2. That was probably the best 'conventional' episode so far - including part 7. The Mitchums are lovable buffoons and guardians to Dougie, and the ending sequence was as purely sweet and goodhearted as anything in Lynch's work. The moment with the old woman from the casino was up there for me with the waiter in episode 14 of the original show coming up to Cooper and saying he was sorry. Huge tearjerker. Tonight was the first time I began to wonder if Candie was an avatar of Laura Palmer. It may be nothing, but she was attuned to the same music and wavelength as Cooper. And the bit with Red - and Shelly randomly changing mood and rushing out without a word - made me wonder if he is indeed supernatural somehow and has that power over her. I couldn't begin to start here. So many incredible sequences. Bushnell is just a delight. And I laughed again at Tom Sizemore crouching outside the window like a penitent dog. Lynch plays him for pure comedy as this bumbling oaf and it's so unlike most of his tough guy roles - he is hysterical when he says or does anything at all, it's so bizarre. Deputy Jesse is such a cute space cadet. I love how loopy Lynch makes him even in tiny scenes. It's built up over time. And I love Maggie.
  3. Not ten minutes in and this is pretty great: Good old Carl. Gersten!! (Or Alicia Witt) Pretty sure the older boy teaching the other kids baseball (who finds Miriam) is Travis Frost, Mark Frost's young son. Maggie (the dispatcher at TPSD) is still the best. Is that the convenience store in Buckhorn??

Wow. I think this is set during "The Tenth Planet" - that looks like Polly with the First Doctor.
  5. Sonequa gets emotional discussing Trek and Nichelle Nichols around 16:30-40(?):
  6. Just noticed: Miriam is very clearly still breathing in the trailer. Maybe not for long, who knows.
  7. Ellen Holly refused.
  8. From SDCC (Sonequa Martin-Green is there starring in the new Star Trek series):
  9. Anthony Rapp has confirmed Wilson Cruz from My So-Called Life and RENT will be playing his partner on the show.

  11. This scene with Jaime and Cersei is tragic.
  12. Liveblogging: That cold opening with House Frey and Arya was the most satisfying thing she's done on the show in years - I was not a fan of the Faceless Men story. It earned the Red Wedding callback. It's a pity Carl doesn't watch anymore as I find this debate between Jon and Sansa (in public, unwisely) over the Karstarks and Umbers to be a difficult one to make a call on. Both sides are very legitimate. Sansa has a very good point, but IIRC her thinking re: traitors or disloyalty is what doomed Robb with the Karstarks. They need every hand they can get, it might be more prudent to settle the traitors after the winter. #justice4wunwun Poor little Ned and Alice! I didn't realize that the only surviving heirs to those Houses were blameless children. "You need to be smarter than Father. You need to be smarter than Robb. I loved them and I miss them but they made stupid mistakes." Sophie Turner and Kit should have had this many scenes like they've had in the last year-plus long ago. They are great together. And the interesting admission about Cersei, which reminds me of a scene between the two I think I vaguely remember in S2, maybe before the battle with Stannis? "I learned a great deal from her."

  14. So at the mention of Lisa I perked up and checked into this tiresome storyline: This is hilarious. I may look in to see Lisa, though.
  15. LOL:
