  1. Stelter is once again getting ratioed. The push by seemingly moderate or well-meaning and almost entirely white journalists to create a 'liberals are too cautious about/addicted to the pandemic' is an attempt to create a new #BothSides framework on this topic. The Beltway and cable media are deeply uncomfortable with not having an equal sides synergy to apply to the current status quo with the GOP and the right hosting antivaxxers and unsafe people in the pandemic, so they are pushing the unsupportable idea that on the other side, the left and Democrats are 'too cautious' and 'want to keep it going'. It's also very much about privileged, well-heeled pundits who are either already vaxxed or in blue states or both wanting to move on and go back to brunch already, and are impatient with the rest of us.
  2. This is an admittedly weak pull by me, but I'm excited: The successful new Kickstarter for Season 13 of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (now funded for 9 episodes, almost up to 12) has begun announcing bad movie titles for its upcoming season. One of the unfortunate films featured will be 1993's Robot Wars, featuring Lisa Rinna (Billie, DAYS/Taylor, MP) and Barbara Crampton (Leanna, Y&R/Mindy, GL). Stay tuned!
  3. Trump has a (doomed) blog now:
  4. They really do, lol. In other lighthearted news:
  5. Yeah, I posted it above. Disgusting.
  6. Looking forward to being almost two full seasons behind! I will catch up.
  7. No? Let's go to your post history. Literally all you are known for here is the countless examples of you excoriating literally everyone on the board for not liking the shows, actors or stories you do. Consider alternative methods or perhaps, a nap!
  8. The public demands more of @DRW50's Eastenders bible.
  9. Again - Coons was soundly ignored re: the last big bill despite a ton of hype from the Beltway press when he put his voice in. And so far, none of the Beltway agita over infrastructure seems to have derailed the bill or changed Biden's approach atm. Signal =/= noise.
  10. Chris Coons' last big attempt at a bipartisan compromise got nowhere with this WH. I'm not super worried about him.
  11. I grew up absolutely worshipping Janet - I lipsynced and danced to songs way too old for me as a kid over and over. But I've always had complicated feelings about the later years. I think Janet got very spooked by the commercial response to Velvet Rope, and retreated to making very light, superficial pop for years afterwards - chasing other people's trends (not as badly as Madonna has in recent years, though). I can listen to "All For You" now and enjoy it, but at the time I was very disappointed by that entire album for retreating from the kind of relevant, innovative work she'd spent the late '80s and '90s doing. The 2000s hit her and a lot of artists hard, and I have never hesitated to say I find most of her albums after TVR to be bad (and her Tyler Perry work even more embarrassing). There's the occasional good song or fun single in the mix, but the old Datalounge joke about her contemporary albums being overstuffed compilations of songs about her junk, giggling interludes, and "edit!" is not far off. That being said: I thought Unbreakable was a considerable improvement, and I liked "Made For Now" a lot. Janet is over 50 and there's no shame in her not being able to move like she used to and leaving the serious dancing to the entourage. I was really thrilled she had not only a great new single that didn't seem tacky or repetitious like so many of her other attempts at the charts in the 21st century. Madonna has become a total joke who can't face the future or her aging, but Janet has clawed her way back to some relevance and appreciation. I hope she keeps it up.
  12. Dude, you have spent years on this board being the moral scold for people not liking the soaps you like or having issues with performers you don't have issues with. People have explained their feelings on countless issues backwards, forwards and sideways and instead of taking their feelings into account you continue to belittle everyone as though you have any standing whatsoever or anyone has to listen to you. Please understand: This is not your house. You are not the adult here. If you've spent 70-80% of your posts in the last 16 years decrying the board and its members, the problem is you.
