    It was some tax issues.

Meanwhile other criminals guilty of far worse wander shamelessly through town.

That kid is going to have major issues down the line.

On this show, not paying taxes on some shoe sales merits banishment forever and Sally is tarnished as the town troublemaker because she... got Summer a really great job offer in Italy that she accepted.

OTOH pedophiles and murderers walk free and no one cares (unless it's Adam).

Here's a link to the Talk Show Rewind channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TalkShowRewind

    Here's a link to Liquid Soap: https://www.youtube.com/@LiquidSoapTV

Both have been "verified" by YouTube, although I don't know how much that matters since I see videos from American shows uploaded to Indian-run YouTube channels illegally and they have verified badges too for some reason.

Reminds me of those "Sony Minisodes" they did some years back except those were fairly classic scenes. I had a thorough look at the Y&R ones and they're all more recent (2010s at least) except for a couple of clips from the first episode from 1973. Days seems to have some vintage 90s clips based on thumbnails, and some not-HD clips of their first episode in color (which was cool, cause I think I've seen it online before only in black and white).

The Liquid Soap idea is fine, but is anyone dying to see clips such as Jason Thompson's Billy talking about sex ed with Reed?

Rose's first appearance was part of a teen runaway story in  involving Chris Brooks. Somehow she escaped that rap and resurfaced for the Nikki story.

Her shop was called something like "Roses Antiques and Pretty Things" - a double entendre for teen prostitutes she kept in the back.

  3. I think it's fine that Eric and Ridge consider each other father and son and don't mention his parentage, but it makes me roll my eyes when they make comments like "it's all in the genes" about RJ's drawings and the Marone branch hypocritically claiming Hope is not Douglas' "real mother" and that they are the "real Forresters."

I might have some details wrong here, but...

Angie, now reunited with not-dead Jesse, gave birth to a daughter, Ellie.  (Angie's pregnancy had been particularly difficult, because she also was battling a disease that had left her blind).  Jesse, who had delivered his and Angie's baby himself, noticed that the newborn was not breathing.  (Angie was unconscious during the delivery, IIRC).  Despite attempts to revive the baby, Ellie was stillborn.  That was when Jesse buried Ellie in a shallow grave at a nearby park.

Believing that Angie would be devastated by the loss of their baby, Jesse, with help from Brot, switched Ellie with another newborn that Maya, a unwed, teenage mother, had abandoned around the same time as Ellie's birth.  Together, Jesse and an unsuspecting Angie named the baby Lucy.  And then it goes on from there.

Needless to say, I was not a fan of the story, or of much of Jesse's story once he was resurrected...but that is another post for another day.

I think it was either David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski or Lorraine Broderick.

Wow, knowing the story of Angie and Jesse, I can't believe he would do that... but I do recall the obsession with baby switching for a while, particularly with ABC soaps.

Towards the end of AMC's run when babies were dying a lot, the most disgusting plot was when Jesse Hubbard buried a dead baby on the edge of a park, not even covering it completely with dirt. I have no idea who wrote that filth, but it was terrible.

What on earth? What even was the context there?

The 10/19/87 book has been found!  As you expected, 7 of the soaps had PARTIAL preemptions that week. Will post the updated chart next.

Replacing these items in the October post with the Nielsen chart below. As discussed earlier this year, VR's post had the original OLTL rating at 7.4. Once the 17-minute Tuesday 5.5 rating was taken out and made a breakout, that got OLTL a point higher to 7.5 for the week. The breakout accounts for the discrepancy between VR's #s and the #s posted in Daytime TV.

Wow! I'm a completist so this makes me very happy. Amazing work.

  7. I feel like Brooke has to sleep with Liam at some point to complete the circle. Thomas too. It was so funny when she slept with Oliver but Bradley didn't want to make her slutty again so he made it into a preposterous mistake, and then when Ridge found out he pretty much grunted "oh, Logan!!!" like it was a sitcom... which it was... and this is why Ridge has to be played by Ronn Moss!

Brooke slept with her son in law, when she was married to Eric. She was then pregnant and didn't know if it was the father or the son. EW.

Brooke got pregnant by her son in law, her daughter's husband. I would say this breaks the disgusting meter.

Brooke slept with her sister's husband and got pregnant. Now this is some kind of Maury show or Oprah show level of perversion.

She has no comparison in the show and there is no" thing about people's views on sexuality vs violence" here.  Brooke is a sexual predator and she isn't prejudiced or discriminated against. SHE IS VIOLENT in her own way and she destroyed lives.

She drove Macy to kill herself, taking away her husband.  I call this VIOLENT. This woman deserves criticism and anyone who thinks she does not is out of their mind.

Now... what these other people did is something different and I think yeah... they deserved MORE criticism and backlash, but Taylor killing someone or Stephanie faking a heart attack don't make sleeping with your daughter and sister's husbands any less DISGUSTING and shocking.

I thought that was all bad at the time too, but I guess I am over it. Yes, it was disgusting and shocking. I started watching when she was pregnant with Bridget and I found it so gross, that she didn't know if her husband was the baby's father or grandfather. I was never a fan of Brooke. I could not even understand why anyone would fight over Ridge, but if they were, I felt that Taylor "deserved him" because she was a good and moral person, and Brooke was disgusting. I could even overlook her sleeping with James in the cabin. Taylor was classy and intelligent. I remember Brooke parading around in lingerie, putting a bed in her office, sneaking up on Ridge in the sauna, throwing her underwear in his face... and he was a married man with children. I thought it was despicable. I was appalled when she then went after Thorne. IIRC young Bridget walked in on them and puked into a plant. I understood Stephanie's rage and rooted for her even though she's no saint herself. And then she slept with Bridget's husband! She just couldn't help herself. No accountability.

I can't say I ever thought she was abusing the men though, seems to me they all slept with her willingly (although Eric and Ridge have both taken advantage of Brooke while she was impaired by alcohol and couldn't consent).

At this point though.. everyone else has done the same thing (bad writing - keep playing the same story over and over with different characters, so now it's nothing special). Taylor has been involved with Ridge, his father, both his brothers, Brooke's son (also her daughter's boyfriend), father, AND brother. Yeah it was bad when Brooke slept with Thorne, but Taylor also slept with Thorne after killing his wife while drunk driving and lying about it while planning to marry him. That's a whole other level of despicable.  And we are supposed to buy Taylor not only as reading the Bible, but being a missionary! And she and Steffy sit there judging the Logan sisters as if they haven't done all the same things. At this point the Logans seem quite normal and functional and not worse than anybody else.

  9. Brooke used to be outrageously slutty for sleeping her way through the family but now that they've done that with every character (Taylor, Steffy, Donna, Katie, Eric, Bill, Ridge, Thorne, etc have all done it) she really doesn't seem that bad anymore. At least she hasn't killed anyone and is generally a pleasant person. She isn't sanctimonious either (just briefly with Amber and that was twenty years ago).

She ended up being one of the more moral characters on the show TBH. Not what I would have thought during the 90s!

This is the blurb that some sites are posting now:
"Victor receives a painful reminder of his past. Nikki and Sharon fight for the spotlight. Brad worries about Ashley. Kevin plays with fire."

What is the painful reminder that Victor receives?

I think the reminder if supposed to be that he was responsible for the accident that led to Ashley losing her child.

If only they would show 1981 Victor and Nikki’s first Christmas! Way more relevant than a 2003 episode…

Pardon me…? 😂 I must have blocked that one out. Wasn’t Nina supposed to be Raul’s mom before TC quit? Lauren is definitely supposed to be older than Nina!

Would love to see a really old classic ep!

Yeah, Lauren took Raul as her gala date IIRC, hah.

    Friday December 29
    (Thursday December 28 Global-Canada)
    Repeat of Episode #7735
originally broadcast on October 13, 2003.
Kevin sets Gina's on fire while Colleen is in the freezer. Ashley holds an empty blanket thinking it's her stillborn baby Robert.

NOTE: Due to CBS sports coverage of NCAA football - the Sun Bowl (Oregon State vs. Notre Dame)...
    On Friday December 29,
the 2003 repeat of Y&R might not air in some areas of the U.S.
or it will air at a different time of day.
In the Pacific Timezone, some stations are airing Y&R at 3pm after the football game.

That's not a bad choice, but doesn't seem to have any relevance to the current story (unless they are bringing Colleen or Robert back to life lol). They showed October 10 during the 2020 classics, when Kevin destroyed Gina's, and I thought it was a shame they didn't show the fire episode, so hoping someone will upload that in HD.

Also in this episode are Sharon hosting a gala at the ranch, Victoria flirting with Michael, Lauren flirting with Raul, Neil and Lily having dinner, Nikki and Bobby Marsino reminiscing about the Bayou. A good episode.
