I'm stunned that not only a new soap is being developed, but that it's being developed for broadcast. I assumed the next time we'd see a new soap would be for an online streamer!

And in consultation with freakin' P&G!

I had to reread the article several times to understand it said what I thought it said!

Danny later moved to Europe and took Daniel with him and raised him alone.  Phyllis never saw Daniel again - well not until years later when Daniel was a teenager.

This is why it's hilarious when Danny says he needs to be around Phyllis to "co-parent" their adult son (Michael Graziadei is 44 years old). He had no problem raising Daniel faaaar away from Phyllis during his formative years, and rightfully so.

I have added episodes 7-9 from season 3. Actually they are not converted, I was mistaken, since I am downloading with 4k premium downloader, that is a paid version and thought it was converting them.

The program is actually ripping the original AV1-MKV codec file that youtube has provided and giving me to choose between the mkv - which is the same resolution and quality, but a newer codec and 3 times less space and MP4 - which has the old standard codec, that still has the same resolution, but is 300 mb files. I didn't know youtube provided that, but they do. So there is no conversion, other than the original youtube upload conversion. I have made multiple screenshots and checked both the mkv and mp4 on TV, and there is 0 quality difference. It's kinda bizarre since it's 100 mb files that contain SO MUCH quality.

    But it's great.

I'm impressed with your knowledge and skills!

Mind blowingly beautiful yes, but the sound cuts out at the end of #3142!

Just when you thought they had fixed things for good. 😥

Seriously?! I can only laugh at the incompetence.

Just think, in about a year's time when Videoland catches up, we'll be able to complete the writer and director column. Also I believe VL is up to episode 2560 now which is very close to where the official channel stopped uploading. So if someone who access to VL wants to provide that info, feel free to send me a private message. Otherwise, I will happily wait for when I have access to those episodes.

I also have a question for all of you. The episode summaries from 1997-2008 (#2702 to around #5400) were copied directly from the old CBS daytime website. They are quite lengthy and the Wayback Machine wasn't able to capture all of them, hence why some are missing. Should I replace them with the YouTube versions which are quite a bit shorter?

If you decide to go with the shorter ones, I hope you maintain a copy of the ones from the CBS site as a separate document... that must been loads on work to compile!

  5. These lists are great! Has anyone made a list that also details the quality? I used to be able to keep track in my head but not anymore. There was a spreadsheet called "BB by year" in the vault but it's not really updated.

Like for Season 1, it would be like

    Episodes 1-50

    Video: Excellent

    Language: English

    Subtitles: No

    51-250

    Video: Excellent

    Language: Dual English/German

    Subtitles: No

That way we kind of hone in and which ones need to be upgraded later? Ideally, we someday have a full set of HD English videos without subtitles!

Hehe. You know me well. And thank you. :)

I'm not down on Hayley Erin as much as most and we have gotten a well-deserved break from her so I look forward to see the next leg of her story.

I was totally down on her and made fun of her casting, but she's doing a great job. I'm even appreciating Amelia in this story!

Wherever episodes are available on Youtube, I've included channel names where they can be found.

I'm afraid I haven't been able to update in a while, which means I can't guarantee all episodes can still be found, and there may be newer uploads missing from the list. I still plan to update the list at a later date, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to.

I had been wondering if you saw the preemption information posted by @JAS0N47 in the Ratings threads for the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It's a treasure trove and you'll be able to confirm most airdates.

I dunno, they’re likely to make her seem like a totally different character. I figure, they may as well use…totally different characters, ones who are aggressive, with a winner take all mentality, which would be antithetical to Brock and Mac’s personalities.

Also, the writers wrecked Mac’s possibilities by saddling her with JT’s kids. Bringing back Mac would inevitably give Victoria and the Newmans more license to eat more of the show.

I can certainly see JG deciding that Mac has given up her lifestyle working at a non-profit for global good to be a corporate shill, lol. Not that I'd want to see that. Or really any version of Mac unless it's Ashley Bashioum, if she's even still acting.

More boring business stories that take place at vague companies.

I think all these random companies should merge into one big corporation no one will care about....Jabot-Newman-Chancellor-Winters-McCall-Barber...and add Sharon and Sally's random company. Then, everyone can sit around on one set and talk about the "work" they have to do.

That sounds like a soap character who has been married too many times. 😅

Poor Gary Reynolds, it was originally his company that was renamed to Chancellor Industries when Kay married Phillip. ;)

Disgusting he thought it was excusable then and is doing it again NOW! Also... we need Michael Logan back. The one soap media person unafraid to ask the questions that need to be asked.

I love that Brad Bell acts like that was such brilliant nuanced writing the way he left it open to interpretation. 😅

Damn, Logan was grilling him as if he were a politician. He even referenced California law. Impressive.

Yes, the accused is guilty of rape if engaging in an act of sexual intercourse where the other person is prevented from resisting by any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, and this condition was known, or reasonably should have been known, by the accused. California Penal Code § 261(a)(3).

And this part is why they wrote that stupid line about "if you ever change your mind, come to my room" or whatever it was... so that Zende could say "oh, I thought you were just taking me up on my offer" instead of thinking she was intoxicated.

He knew that she has rejected him every other time, including that same evening. He knew she was just at a party where alcohol had been served. He didn't know about the mints, but come on. Brad thinks he's written this genius storyline where no one is at fault. Please.

If that's the case, then I want to see characters from all the other, cancelled CBS soaps on B&B and Y&R pronto.

Ugh, no, make a P&G Super Web Soap. Josh Griffith can write it and Lewis Construction can merge with Walsh Enterprises or something.

Personally, it's much easier for me to handle ELR joining GH as a new character rather than see Roger Howarth back AGAIN!, but this time as Blaze's older brother, Pepito.

    🤣

  12. I'm for flexibility with casting. I've watched GH for years, but have only sampled other ABC soaps, so all of this Super Mega ABC Soap Universe stuff is lost on me, but glad others enjoyed it.

Seems to me in this case they had the character Blaze, a singer who had experienced sexual harassment, whom the audience has learned is LGBT and has a very conservative Latino family. Casting call went out for a Latina woman of a certain age to play her mother. Eva La Rue got cast. The part is the part.

They could have made Blaze Maddie and made Eva Maria, but that's just not how the story was conceived. Blaze has been on for a while (if she were new, and they knew they were hiring Eva, maybe they would have made her a Santos). If they decided to make this character Maria, now the story is no longer about an LGBT woman navigating her traditional Catholic family and her budding relationship with Kristina, but some huge retcon story about how Maria has this other daughter who came to be in Port Charles. Speculation will gear up about whether Sydney Penny or Mark Consuelos will appear. It becomes a totally different story. And, IMO, GH already has enough of a fetish of trying to make every new character the long lost child of someone on canvas.

It is unfortunate, to those who want more AMC characters on GH, that this apparently closes the door to bringing back Eva as Maria, but I'd argue it doesn't, given how many characters Howarth and Easton have played (crossovers, recasts, and new characters), in quick succession. So, if Blaze's mother turns out to be a short time role, and Eva is interested in a long contract, they can always bring her back as Maria Santos in 6 months, but with a long term story plan instead of shoe-horning her in, and the audience should accept that.
