Variety article on AI being used to Assist Producers & Crew on French Soaps
This sounds like a great use of AI. Y&R, with no overnight crew, could absolutely use something like this so they could put up a courthouse or hospital set and film scenes out of order in advance. Now that's a little weird, but it sounds like they did it ethically (they even hired the temp actor for another role). Didn't GH do something like this to insert Laura Wright into a Carly flashback?

B&B October 2023 Discussion Thread
That's what I figure will happen eventually but as of the information that is known right now, Li's response is really dumb because she's only bringing attention to her family not getting along and making herself look like a jerk. If she weren't making a big deal everyone would be like "oh, Luna is related to Li and Finn? That's nice."
-
B&B October 2023 Discussion Thread
So what exactly is Li's problem? That her sister had sex/a child out of wedlock? That's supposed to scandalize the Forresters? If it's to protect Finn, he seemed perfectly happy about Luna being an intern.

Has to be Days or GH cause y'all have like every episode from the mid-80s to now floating around.

Y&R October 2023 Discussion Thread
I haven't watched the last couple of episodes but I think it would have been more natural had Mamie been lunching with Nate and mentioning she had some money to invest and he suggested buying out Victor, orchestrating it through Victoria. Mamie would perhaps know that Nate left Chancellor-Winters on bad terms, but without knowing the full extent of his betrayal. Then Lily and Devon could still be blindsided, and always worry that Mamie's decisions are influenced by Nate, while Nate would claim he's just trying to help his great-aunt.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
I know a number of people here were trying to keep up spreadsheets of the B&B episode numbers and dates. Even the official B&B Channel had 1987 completely wrong! For those who don't know, @JAS0N47 is posting official Nielsen Ratings information in the 1980s Ratings Thread in the Cancelled Soaps forum, so now, we finally have accurate preemption information! I am only going to post the full preemptions, not partials (we have the full episodes digitized anyway), just to track the dates. They will eventually be posted on his site here https://www.jason47.com/days/nielsensweekly.html Iran-Contra Preemptions: July 7, 8, 9, 10 July 14, 15, 17 July 23 July 29 August 3 US Open September 7, 11 Thanksgiving November 26, 27 Reagan/Gorbachev Summit: December 8 Christmas: December 25 New Year's December 31 January 1 (1988)

BOLD: An Osmond guest stars
I mean... I'm not even sure what Sheila is supposed to be on Y&R. She's supposed to have had Phyllis' face and been killed, which is why when they wanted to bring her back with Lauren's face (lmao) she had to be "Sheila's sister." But the Sheila that was in jail prior to Pheila wasn't really Sheila, but Sugar with plastic surgery to look like Sheila (lmao). So then doesn't that mean that on Y&R there does in fact exist a woman that looks like Kimberlin Brown, but it's Sugar? So I guess they could bring "Sheila" back to Y&R and have it to be in doubt who it is? But what would Sheila even do on Y&R, lurk in the balcony of the coffeehouse? Send threatening texts? Wear a wig and glasses at GCAC until she gets to her room which is the same room where everyone else lives? Get a job at Newman which we never see and then have Victor fire her before she does anything?

Y&R October 2023 Discussion Thread
I am not up to date on this week's show (but really looking forward to it!), but I did find that episode in the vault, it's 11/24/2003. Thanks @soapfan770 those scenes were really good. Great acting from MS. I like how Danny was empathetic to Phyllis but held his boundaries. That dynamic between them still works and see it in her relationship with Daniel too. They both call her on her BS. and of course Phyllis was sobbing that she is a changed woman, as usual.

"You don't want to be his wife, you want to be his widow!" is such an awesome line. Was that 1995 clip one we had already?

Y&R October 2023 Discussion Thread
I think Bryton has a real fondness for Melissa, and they have a friendship behind the scenes like Tracey and Christian, who tried for years to convince the writers to pair them. They explain it more in this interview: https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/icymi-bryton-james-and-melissa-ordway-interview/ Lauren and Michael popped onscreen way more and have a lot more chemistry. Devon and Abby I would say have a comfortable vibe together but aren't terribly interesting, but the actors probably feel it more than we do because they enjoy working together.

Thanks! It's interesting to see the raw data. Really hard to read, definitely prefer your charts. So for example on Week of 2/4/91-2/10/91 it looks like Days was interrupted during the 1-1:30 timeslot but resumed and aired from 1:30-2. But from this page, how can you tell which day of the week this happened? Or is that the cross-referencing you have to do? The page just says it's for the whole week. I looked on your site but of course, since this is not a full preemption it is not listed. Definitely appreciate the work you do to put these together!

So, if I understand correctly, it sounds like you will still know that the show was preempted, but it takes more effort or is not always possible to figure out WHY? For me personally that is ok. For example I'd want to confirm if a show didn't air the day after Thanksgiving but it's not important to me to know what specific TV movie or sportsball game aired (though I am sure some enjoy that data). For unexpected ones, it is always interesting to google historical events on that day and figure it out. Learn a lot of history that way, haha.

Billy Miller Dead at 43
Beautiful. That makes me want to go back and rewatch every scene he's done (and that was hardly my favorite era of Y&R!). It's very poignant that the video ends with a death.

Sets "Problems" On All The Soaps
It looks absolutely nothing like the Chancellor estate. They should have just said it was a new house for Abby, or even pretend it's Brad's old house which I think she inherited.

Ratings from the 80's
What I think happened was some sites knew about the preemptions and some did not. I remember purchasing some DVDs for Y&R 1/31/86 and 2/4/86 which turned out to be the same episode, which I never understood until I realized 1/31 was preempted and, with the 1/28 preemption in addition, 2/4 was the actual airdate. I actually just looked at imdb again and the January and February dates have been corrected. This is probably because you posted about the two January preemptions several weeks ago in response to a question, in addition to posting the full ratings now I do see that imdb goes off track again for Y&R in September, because they don't have the US Open preemptions for 9/1 and 9/5. I don't think you confirmed those yet but I am reasonably sure on those from TV listings.

Ratings from the 80's
Those February dates for Y&R had long been incorrect on various sites because of the two unplanned preemptions, and now thanks to @JAS0N47 we finally have them confirmed! All of the imdb recaps after 1/28 are off.
