  1. No, I don't have edit access, but I have been able to upload as Guest Contributor. I don't understand what you guys are talking about because I see this episode already in the February 1995 folder and also in the numbered folder under #1986.
  2. So many younger stars passing.
  3. Geez, I keep reading it wrong! 😅 I've updated my post.
  4. So then this is actual lowest rated week from the 80s. THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS: Week of May 3 - May 7, 1982 (12:30pm - 60 minutes - CBS) Leslie said she would marry Lance. Lucas agreed that Brooks should know that Lance was his father. Nikki collapsed after her wedding to Kevin. Snapper left for London without Chris. Andy split when Jill stood him up to be with John. Jack told Patty he would marry her. Carl got a vice squad job with Capt. Alex Morgan, who was involved with racket boss Pete Walker. Victor refused one last fling with Nikki before her marriage.
  5. Y&R's highest rated and lowest rated weeks. Not what you would expect. Kay's surgery is an all time classic! The lowest rated week is only two weeks before Nikki & Victor's wedding. MONDAY DECEMBER 26, 1983 - FRIDAY DECEMBER 30, 1983 The Young and the Restless: Sparky and Vinnie kidnapped Traci, dragging Danny along when he tried to rescue her. Unable to kill them as instructed by Vinnie, Sparky gave Traci and Danny enough drugs to knock them out. Vinnie was arrested after he shot Sparky in the back. With help from Sparky, Carl and Frank rescued Traci and Danny. Patty warned Jack to quit stalling their divorce. Believing Danny was cavorting with Traci, Lauren cozied up to Paul. Julia realized that she had wanted to marry Victor so she could have a baby. In Hawaii, Andy checked out Melissa's death with husband-and-wife private investigative team, Kimo and Kathy. Nikki fretted that Victor might marry Julia. Rick nixed showing Nikki a manuscript that he's writing. Y&R's lowest rated week MONDAY MARCH 26, 1984 - FRIDAY MARCH 30, 1984 The Young and the Restless: Jack was floored that Marc thinks Dina and John were never legally divorced. Ashley caught onto Jack's plot to undermine her Jabot teen-aged cosmetic line. Jack plotted to hire teen model Cricket away from Jabot. Kay's surgery was a success, but she feels insecure about her new look. Nikki refused to leave Victor.- who's in the dumps about his impotency. Carol was hurt that Jack talked about his sexual conquests in front of her, then wondered if he'd treat her differently if she weren't crippled. Jack and Jill panicked when Carl realized she wasn't alone during the fateful snow storm that led to her and Jack's indiscretion. Jack refused to let Diane break her Jabot contract to accept a New York modeling offer.
  6. Ohhh, that's very helpful to know. Thanks for confirming, and I may just come back to pick your brain on more GL!
  7. Thanks for typing that out! Yes, those match exactly. Ah, it soothes my brain to confirm things. That reminds me of a funny story when a Y&R/B&B fan wrote into one of the magazines to say the shows had gotten too boring. They noted that these shows NEVER had day by day previews, proving nothing ever happened. The editors of course responded that the Bell shows chose not to submit detailed spoilers.
  8. I was just coming back to reply to you, but see your update. They're not all classics. There are regular/new episodes posted on YouTube. Soap Central is just missing things. Your original premise must be right: I can confirm episodes (via recaps) of GL for 12/24/97 and 1/5/98. There are four episodes in between without recaps. So, they should be 12/26, 12/29, 12/30, and 1/2/98 not 12/29, 12/30, 12/31, and 1/2/98 as labeled. Christmas day and New Year's day are preempted. I noticed too that Soap Central has a recap for 12/26/97 for ATWT, and it's quite unlikely that they would preempt GL in that case and Nielsen confirms it aired. It probably has to do with the fact that GL switched to 10 AM in some markets and started airing a day behind. A couple of times on Soap Central I noticed the recapper was a day behind person and the dates would be off. Very frustrating.
  9. Soap Central says GL did not air on 12/26/97 either. Presumably another classic episode. Tricky! I don't think CBS started the classic airings til the mid-90s though, so the preemptions from Nielsen from the 80s through early 90s should all be good. For GL 12/31/97 I am surprised it's listed as a preemption. There's no Soap Central recap due to some kind of website glitch (there's nothing listed at all) but there is an episode with that date on YouTube (no commercials so can't verify the date is correct) plus an episode dated 1/2/98 that picks up directly from it (but no usenet or Soap Central recaps for either day). And then an episode dated Monday, 1/5/98 that does match the Soap Central recap, implying that the previous dates were also correct (they have the full months of December and January). Bit of a mystery there.
  10. So on 8/17/88 they basically split Y&R into two halves rather than preempt? Never heard of that before! Some newsworthy things that day include a US Ambassador being killed in a plane crash, a nuclear test in Nevada, and George HW Bush being nominated for president. So maybe they cut in to show the Republican National Convention?
  11. Yeah, that's fair. Those last two rounds were awful. It was smart when B&B rehabilitated Sheila a little bit in the 90s. Being married to Eric, she had something to lose and she had to behave for a while and struggle not to relapse. Her and Lauren's interactions then were good and not so cartoonish. That's why I wanted them to lean into Sheila becoming Bill's lover and cleared of the charges, so she could be more into high society again and run into Lauren at crossover events but having to refrain from doing anything crazy.
  12. I'm kind of surprised by this because I thought she loved working with Kimberlin.
  13. He just had to fight to get custody of Adam's son, just so they can never show him. Such high stakes. I know they think it makes Victoria and Nick seem like good parents if they mention Christian and Katie as if they exist, but... it doesn't. They should just have them all in boarding school and not write those cringey lines about getting home to Christian and watching Katie's ballet recital. I appreciate that GH and B&B actually show the kids once in a while so that when they're aged up, I know who they are.
  14. Thanks for this! Also, thank you for separating out the preemptions and special airings for each show - it's so much easier to read! B&B's preemptions have always been a bigger mystery than Y&R's. I'm working off a spreadsheet that someone else sent me a while ago and revising it. The numbers for 1993 were just not adding up since it had 1994 starting at #1704. Taking that 7/1/93 script date, even accounting for an extra preemption, was ending up 5 episodes off. So I decided to restart from the beginning with 1987... and so far, have discovered that year ends at #187, not 188 as previously thought. I think the person who made the spreadsheet had some wrong dates for Iran-Contra, but the overall number of preemptions right, but then that 12/8/87 preemption no one knew about threw everything off! I won't get up to 1993 tonight, but will continue to delve into this!
  15. I think Tucker has supplanted Adam as JG's pet. Tucker is involved in everything. He schemes with everyone. Anytime there's some mystery as to who is behind something, the answer is Tucker. He's the cool rich snarky big bad. Adam has become a dog that's kicked around. They're back to 10+ years ago where haha, Victor put his office in the bathroom! Wild! Nick is very boring and aimless. The only time he worked in a long time was in the Cameron Kirsten story. One really simple scene I liked was when the girls were over at the cottage and Sharon got one of his packages and Nick understood what was going on and there was this whole unspoken communication between them because they didn't want to scare anyone. Nick is kind of a Neanderthal, so his best stories were the action oriented ones when he was put in jail, or fighting with somebody, being a hothead and getting into trouble even when he was right. But with this lack of budget, there's nothing for him to do that suits him.
  16. 1994-1995 Official Preemptions! By my count, this means 1994 actually ends with #1946, not 1948 as previously thought Edit: Now I recounted and I think it is 1948 after all, hah.
  17. That makes sense. And then there is also the mystery of why sometimes (at least on CBS) they would re-air the preempted show overnight and not skip a day, and sometimes not. I'm East Coast, so I can recall that if there was a big news happening, then right at the beginning of the show, there would be a chyron telling you today's show would air overnight (so at that point they wouldn't know yet if the show would air in other time zones). Maybe that was generally when it was local news, but I also remember it happening sometimes during OJ, and yet at other times we'd lose a week of shows nationally for OJ.
  18. Thanks so much @JAS0N47
  19. Thank you! Very good to finally get these confirmed! April 19, 1995 was the Oklahoma City Bombing. The June and July 1994 stuff is crazy. My understanding from a French guide and Usenet posts is some areas rebroadcast the June 28 episode of Y&R on June 29 (#5399) while others played a new episode (#5400) on June 29. Then, between July 29th and July 11th, there was only one episode aired on July 4 (makes sense, I guess court was not in session for OJ!). On July 11, some markets rebroadcast the June 29th episode, so Nielsen is picking up both June 29 and July 11 as airing, which they did, but for purposes of episode counting, there's only one new episode between the two days. I've never seen the July 4 episode, but the recap of it is a special pool party holiday episode, so they didn't bother reairing that outside the holiday. The June 29/July 11 episode features a location shoot to "Vietnam" (really Hawaii) so it makes sense that they wanted to be sure that one aired in addition to continuity purposes.
  20. Oh, duh! I read it wrong. I thought it was preempted for 59 minutes.
  21. Thank you! Well, this explains why there are so many GL January 1995 episodes floating around with inconsistent dates. I haven't found any recaps for that month either so that will be tricky to reconcile. I've got to imagine that 1/30/95 is counting as a full preemption and was reaired the next day. According to Usenet, the Y&R special that aired 1/23/95 was Danny and Cricket's wedding from 1990, but some users got that on 1/24. The new episode of Y&R for 1/23/95 was preempted.
  22. Your grammar is right but a lot of Americans would say "he's doing good/he's not good" even though it's technically not correct.
  23. Woohoo! I can be patient and wait til the end of the alphabet.
  24. That's awesome news! Finally, the OJ Simpson preemptions!
  25. Amazing @JAS0N47 been wishing there was a resource like this for years! Hopefully eventually we have preemptions for all the shows through 1996 when Soap Central's recaps start up. It's very hit or miss before that.
