Yes! This is one trope I wish BTG had eschewed. He's a former Senator and she's an EGOT. That tells us they're an important family. We get it.

True, and I hope it's the case that they are saving them for something big. It has occurred to me, though, that given their star power, they may have negotiated for a bigger fee per episode for less episodes. This would track with Clifton Davis being almost 80 and Tamara Tunie requesting that they work around her other projects, not to mention the commuting to Atlanta. We'll see. So far they are reactionary characters and I want to see Tunie leading a juicy story soon.

NBD is no big deal, so we clearly don't agree. Haha. Yes i will agree attempted murder is a reach but at the presser Bill listed several other crimes... assault and illegal discharge of a weapon, that type of thing. She can plead it down to a lesser charge, but you can’t just go around shooting at weddings! Plus she assaulted them like three other times last week. Seeing consequences is refreshing!

Woo, I'm actually up to date enough with both the show and the thread to actually post a bit! I'm really surprised y'all haven't commented on some of the spicy language... shizz, g-spot, liberal use of bitch and ass? I have never heard a US soap try to slip in the S-word! Andre almost dropped an F the other day during the elevator birth scene, haha. I'm hoping the other soaps will loosen up! When the bartender asked Dani if she's Mrs. Dupree or Hamilton... that was kind of a recurring theme on Y&R when Nikki and Jack got married and Jack would be embarrassed as people about town still knew her as Mrs. Newman... in other words, very vintage soap. It's kind of weird that they all hook up at the same bar... like Chelsea went to hook up with a threesome at the same place her mom is at all the time? Would Dani be cool with that? Vanessa meets her lovers there? I take it Dani doesn't know she's cheating (she made up a cover story for her hookup in episode 1), so I wonder how Dani will take that since she feels so strongly about cheaters. I feel like they may need a second, more downlow place for the hookups you really want to keep private. Vanessa and Doug have college age kids? Why? All these kids are too old! She just seems too young to be giving lines like her sex life is dead and she's got an empty nest. Guess Anita and Vernon have low guarantees, but I want Tunie in her own story, pronto. Loved Shanice listening to Nicole and Kat in the hospital... it's a pet peeve of mine when soap characters have these personal conversations in public so I liked that she was reacting, and will definitely repeat it, lol. The lighting for Jon Lindstrom was the most artistic lighting so far... made him look very menacing. But what does he want with a heart surgeon? Intriguing. I love how sweet Ted is and how Eva doesn't know how to react... she has really good facial expressions. Eventually she'll realize how mom has been lying to her and melt down. Can't wait to see it. The pacing felt weird today.... abrupt cuts to commercials practically mid-sentence, but then that long speech from Dani (fell flat). The catwalking was really fun, made them feel like a real family, and Tunie was a queen. Wish they hadn't cut away from Anita and Vernon's dance so soon... they called for a more classic soap opera fade. Just when it was feeling like there wasn't going to be a cliffhanger... haha... so that's why they dragged out the rooftep set for Kay and Chelsea.... ohhh, Leslie pulling another Sheila-ism (rooftop scene with Taylor, also a psychiatrist!)! I don't know why Jacob had to be the one to do it, but... YES! Go Bill! Dani 100% deserves it and I love to see consequences. That press conference pretending it was NBD was such BS. Loved Bill's little Victor Newman contemplative moment at the end.

Very insightful comment! I have even noticed in the way scenes are staged, at least twice I've noticed Smitty was posed in a way that Martin towers over him, making him appear subservient.

I'm loving the shades of gray on this show. They've got me totally rooting for Eva even though Kat is 100% right! I'm team Haley, but Dani's speech about how she never let her mask slip... ohhh, I'm gonna need to see flashbacks because that's kind of diabolical. And now Bill is repeating history wanting Haley to quit, and yet I hope he's on his way to taking down Dani.

It's something I've thought about a lot. Yeah, I get what you're saying. You can tell good stories at a kitchen table. Bill Bell could do that. I'm liking the Amy/Damian storyline right now and that doesn't involve more than two sets. OTOH the show is severely limited in storyline choice when they don't have basics like a large hospital set and a police station. Everything becomes a throwaway line at the coffeehouse. Even with the fetish for "business stories" they don't even have offices! It's just beyond parody. A show is firing on all cylinders when it's making a best effort at everything... writing, acting, directing, sets, wardrobe, lighting, music, etc. That's what BTG is trying to do (granted some growing pains in some of these areas).

And yet we can't get a f***in' overnight set crew! How infuriating!

So I found my answer... Misty Moon by The Sunset Sound featuring Shelby Lynne. That episode is in the vault and I skimmed it and don't hear it so it could be something they made up now.

What was weird was how casual it was. Even on B&B they will wring some drama over the feelings of guilt and shame, struggling with the attraction and how family members will react, and then giving in to passion. This was like, "hey remember were not related, wanna boink?" "OK!" I'm curious to see where it goes. It seems like it should be a secret that really hurts Nicole and Ted but Dani and Andre didn't seem to think so. I expect Nicole to be upset Dani would use her nephew she raised like a son as her "best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody."

I just skimmed and based on the outfits, day 2 starts in episode 4... which is similar to BTG actually. Y&R's day 2 starts on Episode 6.

I really loved the scene where Naomi was like "you approached me so if you don't like my opinion, turn and go" and Bill did LMAO! So funny that just yesterday I was asking if Andre was a blood relation and today he helpfully narrates that to Dani like she didn't already know, haha. I guess MVJ has been duly influenced by Brad Bell to already get to some relations boinking in week 1!

Lol at the special kidnapping episode... Phyllis got in a couple of good lines but I almost turned it off when I saw it was just that story! The set is so one dimensional, it's like it can only be filmed from one angle. Are there any articles or social media posts about that song? I assume it was a special composition. I heard the word Restless in there...

The daughters talking about tiptoeing around Dani's moods and Dani freaking over her food... these small interpersonal moments what I love about soaps. Moreso than the dramatic ending of this episode. Vanessa is totally the Diane Miller of the show. I loved the gossip session at Orphey Jean's. Great way to fulfill the obligatory recap. Karla Mosley's acting takes me completely out of her scenes. I'm really liking Bill. They definitely needed a steady and layered performer to offset Mosley. He gives a lot of good nuance and subtext. I'm really looking forward to the confrontation with Naomi over sleeping with her best friend. Naomi seems really grounded and cool.

Wow, that's really good for just the 30 minute specials. Have to imagine the show itself will do better than the specials, either beating GH in its debut or overtaking it quickly. I feel bad for GH because they've been very good all week and they're the only show that's been trying. This is pretty much around where I expected BTG to land. Didn't think it would beat its lead in and it will probably take around a year to build their audience if there is any chance.

I'm not hating Luna and Remy. Mad chemistry. No need for any paternity test on Steffy. She truly is Ridge's daughter considering how long it took her to get it.

Is Chelsea the oldest? They really did not need to make it a 30 year marriage. I also thought it was implied she not only married, but started a family quickly and lost her career. 25 years would have been just fine.

And with 5 soaps, plus some of the streaming stuff now, it will be harder to justify just nominating every show for all the top categories. 😅
