DAYS: March 2025 Discussion Thread
I know that we're supposed to feel like Philip is a villain, and he is ruining Xander's relationship. BUT If Victor knew that Philip was capable of such a remarkable recovery from mental illness. To where he is today, in terms of level of functioning (although I still don't understand the meaning of his untucked shirt, unless it's because he declared the work day is over). He probably would have wanted Xander and Philip to work together as half-brothers. As evidenced by Maggie's statement after seeing them, that this is what Victor would have wanted. OK She also told Sarah that secrets always come out... Somehow, they really have me rooting for Philip that somehow it will all work out. I doubt it. But, I liked that scene with the three dumb dudes thinking that they could somehow take over Dimera. Despite that fact, that their father was never able to achieve that goal, and he was a lot more connected and experienced. I'm curious, how much older was Victor supposed to be when he moved to Salem compared to Philip’s current age in the show's canon? For context, John Aniston was 53 when he joined the show, while PT is now 46 and JPL just turned 45 today (happy birthday!). Back in 1985, Victor was old enough to be Bo's father. Fast-forward to today, and Philip's former schoolmate, Shawn-D, already has an adult granddaughter. In 1983, Bo was just slightly older than an 18-year-old Hope, making their relationship not seem too creepy at the time. Now, Philip could realistically date Joy, who was originally conceived to save the life of his ex-girlfriend (assuming we understand that JPL and Philip can be different ages). So, maybe Xander and Philip have more experience than I credited them? And I'm blindly calling it now, Leo and Javi are going to wind up raising Joy's baby.

DAYS/Y&R: Casting Shocker!!
OR, third option, what if Hank Northrop is going to be Chad 3.0? 🤔 I'm just surprised that he's shot promotional images for the 60th Anniversary. Which I assume indicates that he'll appear until next fall. These big life choices just seem to pop up for soap actors, without much notice.

GH: March 2025 Discussion Thread
I think Charlotte is written as such a little witch (substitute the w for b) when she asked Jason if Anna was going to kill Valentine. I mean, Anna did once totally shoot Charlotte. But, let bygones be bygones, girl. Anna apologized, and she left you alone with your 'daddy', and she's saving your behind. So, be graceful and stop asking incendiary questions, little girl! BTW, before internet forums, did people simply not express their dislike for minor characters, or did they actually write letters to the soap? Because the latter would be very distasteful.

You both mentioned Ava fighting back with Rachel. However, I think the question is even more basic, why doesn't she lock her door? It's all well and good to be the daughter of a mafia boss, although that line has failed her multiple times recently. But if she's going to let people hide behind her door, then she almost deserves what she got. Also: Did she move out of the Brady Pub (remember, when she was going to cook there for a minute?) Or, did Rachel sneak in through the pub unnoticed?

Melinda is fine wearing a stolen necklace? Isn't she afraid of looking like a fool if a Horton sees her wearing it? Also, does this mean that Leo knows Melinda has the necklace and called her? Because how else would she know that Doug3 wants it? He would've much smarted to play dumb and accuse Melinda of stealing it, like she stole Nicole's baby. People in Salem would've believed it.

DAYS: The Conception | promo (March 7, 2025)
@AbcNbc247 and @Antoyne - Does this mean that mid-20s twins Johnny and Allie, (who know that they were born on the same day to separate fathers), never further questioned their conception? And, does that mean they've spent all this time thinking that their Mom randomly had sex with two men at once? (Poor Sami) It would certainly be top of mind for me. Even if my wife was exposed to toxic radiation last year.

I did the smallest investigation possible into the leather jackets of the men on DAYS for the past three months of episodes. Rumors that DAYS casts men according to their ability to share clothes may be unfounded. 😉😎 According to WornonTV, Shawn-D and JJ are not sharing a jacket, they both wear All-Saints, valued at around $500 a pop. On the other hand, although Doug3 wears an absurd amount of leather and suede jackets (like, seriously, he could sell his $1.500 jacket collection to try to get Julie's necklace back). Yet, Doug3 is the only who shared a leather jacket with another cast member, namely Philip But, Surprise of the Day for me (and those lamenting Day's costume budget), Steve's leather jacket comes in at a whopping $1900.00! Steve's also worn a Rag&Bone jacket for$1,000 bones, and a John Varvatos leather shirt/jacket for $800.00

The reason I find myself far more emotionally tethered to Stephanie than Theresa is simple—Stephanie's family is on canvas. Theresa feels more like a Donovan in name than in substance. Her connection to the clan is tenuous at best. And let’s be honest—Kimberly, now there was a Brady to savor! Played to soapy perfection by PP, whose flair for the hysterical remains unrivaled. But alas, Kim seems destined to remain an entry in the annals of history, with no hope of a recast or, dare I say, the original recipe. Now, about Shawn-D and JJ… it's almost comical how much they share: wardrobes, initials, and—dare I say—a largely interchangeable personality. I can't help but wish for a modern take on Roman and Bo's dynamic when they worked as cops. Imagine Shawn-D as the flawed mentor, offering JJ sage warnings about not letting his temper get the better of him. The thought of Shawn-D actually confessing anything to JJ, though? Please. The age gap alone makes that notion laughable. Instead, they should be portrayed as representatives of different generations, each with their own hard-won perspective. That would give their dynamic the depth it truly deserves.

I don't want to overthink the purse, but it completely took me out of the scene—I couldn’t focus on anything else! I get that if a woman is pulled over and sent to jail, she’d likely have her purse with her, especially one that capacious. But Theresa took a plea deal, so she knew she was going to be incarcerated. Why wouldn’t she just leave her purse at home if she was going to be locked up for six months? (rhetorical question, not worthy of an answer, just had to get it off my chest)

DAYS: The Conception | promo (March 7, 2025)
Now this is an intelligent use of Kate! Not only did Kate once think of herself as Johnny's Grandmother, and I appreciate that Johnny is finally being written as a Brady; not just a Dimera. But, it also plays into Kate's plans for Philip to have EJ distracted by internal family drama. (I don't kid myself to think that they'll allow Kate that much complexity, but it is a cool dynamic). My wish would for a story that examines Kate's treatment of Philip (whose death she helped fake in order to avoid jail), versus Lucas (whom she hardly visited -excuse the hyperbole to make a point), and now what part she'll play in Johnny's life.

It was not my intention to implicate you 😉 But, riddle me this. I am neither an expert on women's accessories, nor jail returnees, but do most women carry a purse if they've just been released from prison? Like, what would be in the purse? Certainly not her phone, her wallet, or her makeup bag, because one cannot take that into prison. And was she the one that Rachel bit?

DAYS: March 2025 Discussion Thread
It was a perfectly acceptable Friday in Salem... but the burning questions keep piling up! How does Leo know someone living in town bought the necklace? How could Melinda even afford it? And why is she suddenly acting shady and dealing in stolen goods? Hopefully, we’ll get answers soon. Speaking of twists, I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due: DAYS actually features two (or even three, if you count the Shins) Asian families, all completely unrelated, and from different geographical locations across the continent. Plus, they represent a whole spectrum of moral alignments, which is such a refreshing break from the usual clichés. I mean, we’ve all seen the hack job where they’d lazily make Sophia Melinda’s niece or something, but DAYS is actually delivering authentic diversity within cultures. It’s more than most shows offer. I was shocked when I realized I’d been misinformed by a member of this forum. I was told only Gwen would be returning, so imagine my surprise when Theresa strutted back on screen! Leave it to Salem—where else can someone leave prison fully glammed-up and with their family completely in the dark about the release? Also, the soap trope of people walking in on conversations right at the perfect moment cracks me up every time. Like Theresa’s “Does that include me?” — I mean, does everyone in Salem have impeccable timing? Or do they have superpowers that let them miss entire schemes when they’re right next to the plotters? Case in point: Gabi walking in on EJ and Kristen plotting and somehow not catching a single word.

I hate that Rita didn't get a chance to say where Arnold is to EJ. I hate that Gabi can grab Rafe's gun because he doesn't keep it locked up. Furthermore, I hate chem testing Joy with every guy on the show (btw, I'm betting she's sick, not pregnant). On the other hand, this plot has given Galen Gering a time to shine. His humor as Arnold, his charm when talking to Jada today, the fact that they've stopped dying his eyebrows; it all works for me. I also appreciate that Shawn and JJ are adequate at their jobs. It makes no sense that Shawn would interrogate a witness on his own. But, I'm pleased that Shawn has not reverted to form and tried to date the stripper.

DAYS: March 2025 Discussion Thread
In the spirit of giving credit where credit is due, the use of HIPAA violations for a troubled hospital as an excuse for Stephanie not telling Alex that Joy might be pregnant was unique. Usually it would just be guilt, or jealousy, but they actually gave Stephanie a viable conflict. Compounded with her keeping secrets about Philip, this is a slightly above average twist. (I wonder if she'll leverage their shared secret to get the info from Sarah?) Also, Belle had a good argument, that CPS would probably place Rachel with Brady, given that he's the one seeking treatment for her. Of course, soaps treat CPS like the Boogeyman, so the social workers would probably just do the most evil thing possible and throw Rachel into a children's labor camp. But, IRL, it was a good point. I like the chemistry between Philip and Joy. How long is JPL's contract? I assumed it would be a short-term return, but he seems to be hanging around.

DAYS: March 2025 Discussion Thread
Tate's threats to never see EJ again are pretty hollow given how infrequently they share scenes together. For example, does EJ even know that Tate lost his job? Does Tate know that EJ is sleeping with Belle? They live in the same house, but they live very separate lives. And why wasn't Brady a part of this whole scene? Is Amy the only grandparent who gets to decide what happens to the baby? Also, what is Amy's social status? Are they wealthy? And if she knows Nicole, how does she not know that she's divorced from EJ? I liked the farcical energy today. Doors slamming, people lying, and enemies trying to hide their distaste for each other. I don't want it every day. And I understand that it might not be appropriate given the gravity of the scenario. But, it doesn't feel out of place on DAYS. Where even in the 1980s, humor was always one of the identifying features which separated it from other soaps.

Amy yelled that Tate & Sophia had to get married, then she capitulated. Amy yelled that Sophia had to raise the baby, then she capitulated. Why won't she do the same thing this time? There's no conflict there. So far... And now Joy has an unwanted pregnancy too? Why wouldn't she be using birth control.
