Also, I did more research on the submarine/oil tanker route from the Atlantic to the Great Lakes (which may be a thousand times more research than the writers) During WWII there were submarines manufactured in Chicago, but they were shipped through the Chicago River to the Mississippi River in a floating drydock towed by tugboat. Which doesn't seem very sexy or covert for Rolf and Megan to get to Alamania. And, there is currently no crude oil moved by tankers on the Great Lakes, though relatively small quantities of crude oil are transported to refineries by barge on rivers and canals within the basin. So, my theory is that Konstantin's original con was to get Victor to move to Salem with the promise that it was near Lake Michigan, when he knew all the time that his ships wouldn't fit (ha ha). BUT, getting back to my big issue of the week - predictions - Is Belle just going to disappear back to Boston without seeing her parents on their anniversary? AND - Is Gabi just going to wait forever for her trial, or will something bad happen in the prison? My fanfic solution would have been for Stefon to pay off Rolf to escape in the sub with Gabi and leave Dimitri to rot in Salem.

I disagree. Everett is career-minded, and upwardly mobile. He lacks Nicks desperation, both socially and romantically. I feel like with Nick we always needed exposition about why women were attracted to him. But, with Everett it is assumed that he is intelligent and creative, so women like him.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
Currently, Titan is the Amazon of the DAYS-verse, where you could buy shampoo or watch a football game. Publishing is an element, but they must ship oil because we know that their tanker just destroyed a community of turtles. Remember we had the discussion on this thread over the summer when Rolf first parked his sub, and I wondered how he got to the Midwest in a submersible and everyone noted the Salem River was deep enough? Well, it also must be big enough to accommodate tankers.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
Ok, y'all know that I hate gun play, but now they're joking about shooting people - vres gauche! Eric, maybe you guys need a crib, or bassinet, or an actual bedroom before you buy a baby gym? Priorities man! It makes sense why Nicole would choose to raise the kid with EJ, at least he's got enough space. Rolf, your one job was to take Dimitri back to Megan, how are you going to threaten to fire up the sub and leave without him? Everett, I know you've been in a coma for a while, but Stephanie didn't do a bang up job on the PR for the Titan spill, considering strangers are throwing drinks at Alex, so maybe there's a better way? Also, he's the editor, why is he suddenly responsible for sales? Isn't that Xander's job? Finally, to veer away from the ridiculous, do we predict that Gabi will just wait eternally for her trial to begin or is something bad going to happen to her at Statesville?- Primetime Soaps
Upstairs Downstairs was a cultural phenomenon on PBS from 1971-1975, (a primetime soap that doesn't get enough attention on this board). Beacon Hill doesn't replicate the plot, but was clearly influenced by the British version. Also, as noted in the text, you can't write a story about a household with staff in the US in the 1920's that doesn't involve the 'complications' of race. Up to and including Downton Abby, UK culture romanticizes the working class. Whereas in the US, setting a soap at the turn of the century and writing about the servant class is never going to be similar because we mostly want stories about upward mobility, and we associate maids and butler with miserable working conditions.- Dynasty Discussion Thread

Martha Madison's exit interview makes even more sense now. Because there was no adequate explanation for how or why Belle left Shawn in rehab to come back to defend Gabi. I get it, that if they were just going to use the character to pinch hit in an episode or two, it wouldn't be worth it to stay. I mean, there was no reason why Sloan couldn't have played those scenes today, especially because Shawn and Belle's mutual exit a few weeks was given so much attention. But, do we think that was Martha's last episode? And in soap-speak, we all know that Stefon saying that he will always love Gabi (using her full name), just starts the clock before he finds his next girlfriend.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
I was just remembering that Theresa said her company was also affected by supply chain issues. Which is especially amusing given that Titan is an international shipping company. Like, what good does it do these people to know a tycoon, if they can't get you your stuff on time? Or, does Titan only ship oil?- Day of Days 2023
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, last year's preview covered material up through January, because we saw Doc die on the roof. However, this year's video seems to end around Xmas, which makes me wonder if they are purposely not promoting the scab episodes? Just a dopey conspiracy at this point, but I'd like to revisit it in the new year.- Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
A ton of SFT was just uploaded to YT Most of it from Dec 1984 through early 1985. Can anyone provide context for what was happening in the story at that time?- General Hospital: November 2023 Discussion Thread
I hope not because the scene between the two of them today when the penny finally dropped about Austin was great, and any time a woman gets involved with Sonny they instantly loose 10 IQ points, so I would rather they remain allies. For a moment, I thought they were teasing Anna and Sonny. However, I'm of the opinion that Sonny's romantic days should be behind him, and he should just be a paternal figure and mobster for a while. The Tracy's exit was odd today. I hadn't read that she was leaving, and it would be a pity if she's not around for the annual Thanksgiving episode. I mean, how many affairs can Luke have had to tie up in Amsterdam, he wasn't there that long? Bobbie's not a probate expert, but it's not like Luke had a fortune in foreign funds.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
Here's what I don't get. And correct me if I'm wrong. Wendy asked Li who stabbed him, then it cut to commercial, then it came back, and he was dead. Then, on Tuesday, Wendy replied that Li said Gabi did it, but we never saw that within the episode. Why didn't they show Li saying who stabbed him?- Dynasty Discussion Thread
Dynasty was known for their extravagant costumes, but a red flag for season six was when they tried to pass off this Party City tiara as one of the crown jewels of Moldavia (I wonder if it was close to Mendorra?)- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread

Yes, that was one week earlier (when Rita grew enormous man-hands) It is especially odd that Krystal forgave Sammy-Jo, because she started the whole plot, Krystal was held at her ranch, but somehow S-J was able to achieve plausible deniability- Dynasty Discussion Thread
Speaking of bad ads, I'll never forget the image of Krystal looking like a tied up ventriloquist dummy during the Rita plot For what it's worth, I don't think season 6 is especially bad, but the stink of the Colby's coupled with the wooden performance of Catherine Oxenberg (who could never replace Fallon) just made it loose its cache. Perhaps six seasons is too long for most primetime soaps, because after a while it is tough to keep topping itself.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread

It's funny looking back that GL tried to save every penny in order to not get cancelled, but AW went out and had this huge fantasy plotline with Lumina. The special effects seemed cheap, but there were new sets, actors, and costumes, way more than the normal budget might have allowed. It seems like they tried to go with a bang, and spend every dime, including having a new set built for Grant in the final episode.- General Hospital: November 2023 Discussion Thread
Although not that worried to get to know anything about her friends in school, or listen to her concerns about his relationship. On the other hand, Charlotte's references to her father are cringy and don't seem at all organic to the way a girl her age would talk in 2023. So, maybe she just creeps him out too much to want to converse with her.- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
This may be overcomplicating things, but, I wonder if the last minute details about Xiao Xing were meant to foreshadow her arrival? Although, from the story, it didn't sound bad enough to be a motive for murder. Also, are we to assume that EJ being the DA means his hit woman will never be prosecuted? And who told Paulina that he needed a job the same night that he got fired from Dimera?- Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread

That may be the issue, they started by contrasting the haves and the have-nots, but the audience just wanted stories about how the rich suffer while wearing matching hats and furs. Also, there's not one member of the Blaisdel family that I would choose to watch an entire plotline about, including Claudia. - Days of Our Lives: November 2023 Discussion Thread
