  1. I’d love it if they buck the trend and release very little in the way of spoilers. It seemed like the casting was taken very seriously from what Sheila Ducksworth has said. Kim Coleman was very involved in the casting of the principal cast per Ducksworth. Rob Decina, who oversees NY Casting for CBS, also seemed very involved from what some of the actors have said. For those who remember, he was also GL’s final Casting Director - so another tie to the old P&G soap legacy.
  2. It is what it is. People want to hire their friends - both Karla Mosley and Lindstrom seem to have landed on this show because of their friendships with MVJ. As with any nepotistic association, I just hope both actors are good in these roles.
  3. Feels like more of a short-term villain role to me. 🤷‍♂️
  4. P&G has long been one of the most progressive conglomerates in America. They don’t get the recognition because of their midwestern roots, and within daytime because their soaps were always stigmatized as your “grandma’s soaps” but if you look into their corporate history, you’ll find they’ve supported and upheld many progressive policies for their employees and wider society. Obviously, like any company, they have their skeletons and cons, but it is what it is.
  5. Honestly, daytime always flies under the radar of greater politics and pop culture, so it might not even register on the radar of those people, which can only be a good thing.
  6. An opinion based on not even seeing a single episode….
  7. She’s 43 in real life, but age has never mattered in the soaps, lol. But she definitely looks early 40’s, lol. That said, she clearly got this role because she’s friends with MVJ, KM even said as much.
  8. Loved that Michele Val Jean said that the diner’s name is an Easter Egg to pay tribute to her mom.
  9. How cute that the Dupree family patriarch is based on George Cheeks’ grandfather, lol
  10. Kevin Frazier’s voiceover was not fact checked. The P&G executive was talking about GL, and looks like the folks who put this show together couldn’t tell the difference between GL and ATWT.
  11. Yes, just saw Tamra Tunie briefly talking about being the only black character on ATWT most of the time.
  12. Just saw a new promo after B&B that I haven’t seen before!
  13. Since CBS owns this show, they have more of an incentive for it to succeed than BOLD, which they’re paying a licensing fee for the Bell’s to produce. The only catch is CBS needs those Y&R and B&B viewers to stay tuned and build an initial base of viewers for this show.
  14. With all the promotion (uncommon for daytime soaps in this age), I wonder how the first week ratings will pan out, and if there is an influx of some new viewers, can they maintain it? It would be interesting to dig into the demographics data once the show debuts. CBS Daytime is historically strong with black female viewers - are they supporting this show the same way and over-indexing for viewership? This was a program specifically created with that demographic in mind and one I think CBS will be paying close attention to.
  15. Baftas 2025: The winners list in full Mikey Madison won Best Actress for 'Anora,' so if she wins again at SAG next week, she could likely steal momentum from Demi Moore's Oscar campaign 'Conclave' won Best Film, but it's technically considered a British production, so 'Anora' will likely proceed with the Best Picture win at the Academy Awards
  16. It only gets serious when Aide starts baking cookies with this boy!
  17. Ms. Tunie seems to be having the time of her life and I am here for it!
  18. I wonder how they’re going to explain the entire Dupree family attending that wedding - outside of maybe Bill’s kids with Dani, why would any of them want to be there when they clearly can’t stand Bill/Hayley? To keep up appearances in that community?
  19. Hayley was the character that came off as the most nuanced to me in the trailers. I don’t think she’s necessarily just the bad girl who intentionally went out of her way to lure Bill away from his marriage (and why is it always primarily the other woman’s fault when a man cheats and leaves his family anyway?) and I wouldn’t doubt Bill and Dani had cracks in their marriage way before her for various other reasons we’ll find out. I think Hayley also almost seems like our gateway character into this community - there seems to be a secondary arc for her trying to assimilate into a community that already decided she was bad news because of the affair and she has to prove that she belongs there. Marquita Goings is so damn stunning, too:
  20. Contract or recurring roles? Looks like Cady’s been hinting at it on her IG recently as well: https://www.instagram.com/share/BAJTO0AljD She also randomly posted a flashback to her Emmy win for ATWT (her first stint there being the best acting work of her whole daytime career, IMO): https://www.instagram.com/share/_tfbsbG_u
  21. Sounds like recurring roles, but are they on contract, @Errol?
  22. This still feels surreal, even as we inch closer to the show debuting! Major props to CBS, the NAACP, P&G, Sheila Ducksworth, and Michele Val Jean for doing the unthinkable and making this a reality in these unusual times in a genre that has been written off for years, and doing it with primarily people of colour - a demographic that has been ignored and taken for granted by both daytime and the wider entertainment industry since inception.
  23. I wonder if they’ll be appearances on CBS Mornings as well next week. I know both Tunie and Duplaix will be hitting the NYC promotional circuit heavy next week, leading up to the Paley Center event on Thursday. Would be nice to have one of them guest on The Daily Show as well next week, but CBS definitely deserves kudos for all they’ve done to promote the show.
