FROM IMDB BIO: On a never-aired game show pilot called "Talking Pictures", Jan revealed that when her dramatic studies ended in London, she traded her ticket for her flight home for passage on a steamship, in order to use the difference to purchase some lingerie. The original ticket was for The Hindenburg. Thus, she claimed that fancy lingerie saved her life. Her son, Adams Douglas, died of heart failure in December 2003 just three months before her own death in 2004. Eva LaRue GENERAL HOSPITAL Natalia Rogers Ramirez February 26, 2024 - Apologies for the time between postings -- theater, unlike movies, have several sites for research, and then paring all the duplicates into one list can get time consuming.

Gail comes to realize that Andy will never outgrow his playboy tendencies, and decides to let the marriage break apart. (Courtesy of @jam6242) Marriage Baron Karl Von Vietinghoff-Scheel 10/23/1953 - 55 Divorced Obituary from The New York Times (link has a paywall) By Dennis Hevesi Oct. 9, 2006 Elizabeth Allen, a leading actress on Broadway and in movies who got her start as the “Away we go!” girl on “The Jackie Gleason Show” in the 1950’s, died Sept. 19 in Fishkill, N.Y. She was 77. The cause was kidney failure, her sister-in-law, Marion Gillease, said. Ms. Allen played major roles in five Broadway shows and in six movies, appeared on numerous television shows, including “Kojak” and “Mannix,” and sang at the Stork Club in New York. She was twice nominated for Tony Awards: in 1962 for best featured actress in a musical in “The Gay Life,” and in 1965 for best actress in a musical in “Do I Hear a Waltz?” Elizabeth Ellen Gillease was born on Jan. 25, 1929, in Jersey City, the daughter of Viola and Joseph Gillease. Her marriage in 1953 to a German baron, Karl von Vietinghoff-Scheel, ended in divorce. She left no immediate survivors. As a teenager, Ms. Gillease, a tall, willowy brunette, was noticed by a photographer as she walked on Madison Avenue. That led to a five-year career as a fashion model. In 1953, she tried out for a bit part on the Gleason show and was chosen instead to introduce the program with what became its trademark proclamation, “And away we go!” While on the Gleason show, Ms. Allen also worked as a costume designer for a production of “Hamlet” by the Helen Hayes Equity Group. One day, Ms. Allen recalled, Ms. Hayes noticed that she unwaveringly would watch every rehearsal and said to her, “I think you’re in the wrong end of the business.” Ms. Allen began playing roles with the company’s national touring troupe. Her big break came on a Saturday night in October 1957. While working in an industrial show in Detroit, Ms. Allen received a phone call asking her to return to New York to read for the role of Juliet in the Peter Ustinov comedy “Romanoff and Juliet.” The show was scheduled to open in five days, but there had been difficulty with the actress cast as Juliet. Ms. Allen had been recommended by Jack Manning, the director of the Hayes touring troupe. She flew to New York on a Sunday and read for Mr. Ustinov and the producer David Merrick on Monday. Wherever she went during the next three days, including while her hair was being dyed red, she was trailed by someone helping her memorize the script. On Thursday night, the show opened. Ms. Allen’s Broadway roles and television appearances led to her Hollywood career. Among other major film roles, she played in “Diamond Head” with Charlton Heston, in “Donovan’s Reef” with John Wayne and in “From the Terrace” with Paul Newman. In 1965, Ms. Allen received her best-actress Tony nomination for the role of Leona Samish in Richard Rodgers’s musical “Do I Hear a Waltz?,” about an American secretary seeking, but not quite finding, romance while on vacation in Venice. “I hated being remembered as the ‘Away we go!’ girl,” Ms. Allen once said. “Now I love it, because so many people liked it. It’s flattering.” CHARLES "JAY" HAMMER 11/16/1944 - Present TEXAS Max Dekker 2/19/1981 - 8/12/1981 ONE LIFE TO LIVE Jesse Rogers 1982 Marcus 1983 or 84 ALL MY CHILDREN Kyle that dated Marian 1983 or 84 GUIDING LIGHT Fletcher Reade May 1984 - March 11, 1998; March - May 1999; September 17 & 18,2009 and THE JEFFERSONS Alan Willis 1978 - 79 GREATEST HEROES OF THE BIBLE Ham 1978 THE $10,000.00 PYRAMID Self 1987 THE $25,000.00 PYRAMID Self 1987 movies NEITHER ARE WE ENEMIES Abner 1970 (Made for T. Her fascination with the theater took her to Northwestern University to study acting. After graduation, Millette went on to pursue a career in theater and television, appearing in hundreds of shows, including 14 years on The Guiding Light. The piano was always a constant companion, frequently being incorporated into the shows in which she appeared. After raising 3 beautiful children, Millette returned full time to her first love, the piano. Back at The Juilliard School, she met Frank Daykin, with whom she had an immediate musical rapport. They formed the Alexander Daykin Piano Duo, performing may concerts in this country and France. Their recording of Bach's Art of the Fugue was selected by American Record Guide as one of the 10 best recordings of the year. After moving to Connecticut, Millette's love for music and children led her to the formation of Chamber Music Central, Inc. to provide a vehicle for exposing talented young musicians to the joys of making music together -- Serious Fun! C. Ligon 12/31/1976 - 3/23/2009 (Her Death) From The New York Times (Paywall) He Used to Be on Police Dramas, Then He Met a Bad Guy in Real Life By Michael Wilson Aug. 16, 2013 A 72-year-old man stretched his tall, thick, worn self onto the little bed in his Greenwich Village apartment for an afternoon nap. It was Aug. 1, hot outside. He was awakened by a noise. In the next room, a window to the street was open for the breeze, and through it, a stranger was climbing into his home. The intruder filled the man in bed not with fear, but fury. How dare he? The man in bed was Tom Ligon, who was born in New Orleans and then made his way to New York in the early 1960s to try to act for a living. He fell in with a kindred spirit named Sam Waterston, and the two shared a $25-a-month sublet until they lost that, and Mr. Waterston found this spot on a quiet block of the Village. One night, the two went to a party, and by the end, the way Mr. Ligon remembers it, Mr. Waterston was mooning over a young lady. He moved out and married her. And Mr. Ligon stayed put. (Mr. Waterston went on to great success, and the two remained friends. “He says, ‘You married me off to get the apartment,’” Mr. Ligon said.) In 1969, Mr. Ligon landed a role in the film “Paint Your Wagon.” Around the same time, a friend visiting the apartment brought along a young lady, and now it was Mr. Ligon’s turn to moon. She was an actress and dialect coach named Katharine Dunfee Clarke. “We were a special pair,” Mr. Ligon said. They married and lived on and off in California pursuing roles, but they never gave up the apartment. “I closed it up,” he said. He was handsome and muscular. He ate raw food and practiced yoga and meditation. Fans of 1970s police shows have Mr. Ligon’s face stamped in unconscious corners of their minds. He played bit parts in “Baretta” and “Police Woman.” In an episode of “Starsky and Hutch,” he played a character listed in the credits as Young Man, a mumbling, brainwashed prisoner in a castle. He played Cadet Ted Miller in an episode of “Charlie’s Angels.” In 1978, Mr. Ligon stepped into the role for which he is widely remembered to viewers, mostly women, of a certain age: Lucas Lorenzo Prentiss on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” He was game for anything the show threw at him. (“Lucas discovered ‘Priscilla’ as a stowaway on the jet,” an online fan site wrote in a description of his character.) He spent more than four years on the show, until 1982. (“Lucas left town for parts unknown.”) In the Village, he remained accustomed to shouts of “Lucas!” In 1989, he acted in “Cutting Class,” playing a father. His son was played by an unknown, Brad Pitt. Mr. Ligon told his wife, “He’s going to be a big star.” He had a recurring role as a prisoner in “Oz” on HBO, and there were several appearances on various “Law and Order” properties. He also visited his wife’s dialect and voice classes at the Circle in the Square Theater School. His wife was blunt. She was said to have told James Gandolfini, cast in a stage production of “On the Waterfront,” that he wasn’t having a dialect problem, but an acting problem. In 2009, she died of a blood disorder. She was 60 and terribly ill, spending her painful final weeks at St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan. Mr. Ligon came home around the corner to an empty apartment. “It’s the first time I’ve lived alone,” he said. He drank heavily. His solid frame softened and he grew a pot belly. St. Vincent’s closed. “I’m glad it’s gone,” he said. Bad memories. It has been four years. This is the man who was napping Aug. 1. “Who comes through the window?” he said later. “Maybe one friend back in the ’70s, back when we were smoking a lot of dope.” He leapt up from bed. “You don’t think, ‘Oh, I can’t move like that,’ ” he said. “I did this purely on reflexes. I take 10 minutes to get out of bed in the morning.” Mr. Ligon yelled “my Japanese yell — ‘Hi-YA!’” he said. “I hit him in the top of the head with my fist.” The intruder fell to the sidewalk and ran away, losing a sneaker in his escape. The police took it for evidence. He remains at large. At least his wife was not there. “She would have killed him,” he said. Last year, after I posted his updated profile, he sent me a dm with a few more roles, which I did verify, and he messaged me for three more days. He appreciates attention. 🤣 So an account like that wouldn't surprise me. He kept thanking me and the group for remembering that he used to be on television every day.

Elsie ___ Miller Franklin Ethel Remey 1956-57 Bertha's mother Albert Franklin ???? 1957 Elsie Miller's second husband,; Bert's step-father died I reached out to a certain former Soap Opera Digest Writer that was well known for histories (the one that sent me his cast lists while he was moving.) Here's what he had.. I recently discovered that Elsie and Dr. Carl Miller appeared on screen in 1953. Do you think Ethel Remey was in the role then, as well as in 1956 and 1957? Have you ever seen that anyone portrayed Carl -- Maybe Carl Low? Hmmm... I don't know about Carl Miller but there was another actress who played Elsie at one time. Possibly Leona Powers. @jam6242 Could you look into Leona Powers and see if there's anything there?

GH: Character Recast
🤣 😂 I see he started laying the groundwork for Howarth's arrival as Sean Butler today. Just kidding... I hope. He wasn't backstage when #firefrank was auditioning the Ford brothers on his casting couch, so unlike Howarth and Easton (maybe even Patrick Gibbons) I don't think he'll get another role once this one fizzles( coughs- already has- coughs) so...

GH: Character Recast
I don't see this as a character that should be on contract for longer than a 13 week cycle. I'm not dissing Harrington as an actor, but the character is John "Jagger" Cates in name only. As many have said, they could have cast him as a randomly named FBI Agent, or Sean Donely's son Connor, Sly Eckert, or any number of relations to legacy families. Like it or not, ASJ is still remembered as Jagger. His personal statements have made ASJ radioactive. The character has sooooo few connections left on the canvas (Anna, Robert, Scotty, Sonny) and aside from being Stone's brother... meh. I do think he'd have made a great Stephen Lars, which would have given Elizabeth a story not revolving around Dawgy Daddy.

GH: AMC actress joining
She seems very "with it". I honestly think she'd be perfect as Blaze's religious Granny. I don't need them to stick around, but 3 - 5 episodes scattered over the course of a month woud be good. Long enough to play out the story, but not like a Gladys who stuck around for years.
