Another example of how tone deaf William tends to be (even more than his father these days), and how no amount  of glossy family photo shoots  are  going to hide that, or his inherent lack of  charisma.

That boy is lucky he married well.  He doesn't seem all that bright.

@DRW50At least Biden and crew on to the propaganda. Lovely to know there are plenty of Americans helping the Russians and Chinese spread it. 😡 if only the world had made Russia pay for using chemical weapons in Syria we might not be facing this horror again.

Rick Schroder is a clueless idiot. These people are delusional.  Spend a day in Moscow getting your messages checked by the police Ricky! Then tell us how oppressed you are.

This info about the refugee ceiling in The States is interesting. If you look at the graph a quarter way down the page you can see we haven't been coming anywhere close to meeting the allotted numbers. I know it's Trump's fault for gutting the system, but those of us who care need to pressure our officials to get these programs back up and running properly.

They did  the same fake ceasefires in Syria. Yet so many tankies continue to worship him and so many on the left continue to whatabout to try to numb the public into seeing it as  no big deal. I sometimes wonder how many of us are left who do care, or even pretend to care.

    Another slaughter on their hands:

I do think people care, but just like in Syria, we can't do much on the individual level. On top of that our country hasn't been refugee friendly since Trump took over. I think we are track to take something like 20,000 this year. I hope that can change, but it may be up to other nations again to take the burden. Meanwhile, even in my red state individuals come out to help when refugees actually make it here. The government is the roadblock, not the people, imo.

Yeah, honestly...I really don't think Valentini has ever had any interest in promoting black characters. His work at OLTL says it all. He, and ABC as a whole, want pretty, white faces  (for the women - the men can be as ugly as possible), and a majority of their remaining viewers do as well.

I'm glad Sydney is leaving to help build her future rather than stay with a show that would never have any real use for her.

I know the world doesn't seem to want to send troops in, but Putin needs to be "taken care of". Like, now.

    I could not agree more.

@KhanWe've been at war for 25 years. Ones that were unrighteous, imo.  Meanwhile this would be a completely righteous war, but the outcome is too unpredictable.  All these people who want to go in are the people least able to deal with consequences. Armchair warriors, who don't know what it is to go without long term. I wish everyone blithely cheering on war could spend one week living on rations with spotty electricity and no Netflix.  Talk to me then twitter warriors.

I think they were paralyzed with doubt and fear - that they would escalate the conflict, and also that they would get the blame (which many are still doing). I also think that the world opinion of the US is now so low that many did not believe it when Biden told people what was going to happen.

With roads blocked off it just feels like we are slowly watching people die without being able to do anything, until it's  over and the press starts spinning about how Putin was awesome and had a secret plan all along that we were too stupid to get, and most of those who are currently paying lip service about not doing business with them go back to basics, like what happened with 1/6.

That makes a lot of sense.

As to the second part, I urge anyone with mental health struggles not to watch the video. It is not normal to be a spectator of war. Helplessness in the face of atrocity is a recipe for depression.  Keeping up with what's going on is one thing, watching people murdered with your own eyes is another.

Whatever happens I hope and pray that Zelensky comes out of it alive so he can continue to be a leader for the Ukrainians. He has really risen to the occasion.

A standing ovation is nice and all, but I wish that we could give Ukraine something a little more substantial.

I hope he survives too, but it seems unlikely. Let's just hope that Europe and the States can get enough aid there in time to really help. Why we didn't do it sooner I don't know.

For people who want to help I would look to donating to some of the refugee charities that are already on the ground. Maybe pressure our leaders to increase the number of refuges let in by a couple hundred thousand. That could help a lot of war torn people around the globe..

As if living under COVID wasn't enough of an existential crisis, now we've got to live with the threat of Putin using nuclear weapons over our heads?

Nukes are like climate change,  The very real threat is always there, but it fades in and out of the front of our minds depending on whatever other threats we are facing in the moment. Like when Trump was president, it's disturbing to think that it only takes one mad man to completely destroy life as we know it.

Like others I hope there is someway out of this mess for Ukraine and innocent Russians.  The only way I can see is buying Putin off somehow, but it's beyond my pay grade to know what he wants. It's disgusting that we have to find a way to appease this man, but with nukes on the table, what other choice is there?

At the end of the day, the majority of Americans don't care about what the (right-leaning) media cares about.  It's like what Bill Clinton said back in the dark ages: "It's the economy, stupid."  All that matters is whether folks have jobs, and whether those jobs pay well and deliver benefits for themselves and their loved ones.  Period.

I would rather go back to living in poverty (no insurance, food and housing insecurity) and take my children with me than be ruled by Trump or anyone of his kind.  There is always a way to make it work. That seems like a no brainier to me. All these people going on about freedom, but willing to give up just for economic reasons. So foolish, imo,

I know what her point was. It was wrong.

She was definitely wrong. I wonder how it happened though. Did her people not brief her on the days topic? So much of what was happening in Germany involved the concept of "the master race", which wasn't about being white but being Aryan.  I'm just surprised that something in her mind didn't click on that during the discussion because it's so basic. I feel like I've known they were trying to build a race of tall blondes with blue eyes since I was 10.  Not to mention how everyone knew it was a big F*ck You to Hitler when Jesse Owens won gold in Berlin.

It must be hard to have these kind of conversations off the cuff though.  I can only imagine the mistakes I would make if I had to talk about controversial subjects everyday in a back and forth format. Still when you have an audience you have to be on top of things or consequences follow.

  11. This seemed like an innocent mistake to me. There are lots of people who see the holocaust through an American lens without meaning harm.  It doesn't make sense to them that it can be about race if both groups look white. She also apologized, so I wish people would give her a break. Why draw blood from people who aren't actively malicious if they are willing to learn?

I haven't seen this but on another topic from Ann it's a shocking day when she says something that we can agree with - not so long ago when people were attacking Biden on the results of the withdrawal from Afghanistan she mentioned that most Republicans talked about it and so did Trump and wanted to do it but no one had the balls to do it...at least Biden did and there was no way it was ever going to be perfect. Of course she tossed in a swipe at Obama as well which I would suspect, but I was shocked at least she gave Biden props for that.

In regard to the Polls and negatives for Biden, I just think about 90%+ Presidents (probably more) weren't handed the bag of steaming shi* and complete dumpster fire that Biden was handed.  I can't think of 4 years of more awfulness that we had just endured.  The Great Depression was no prize but the U.S. didn't have such negatives sentiments against us from so many nations. I say that honestly and without apology and I guess people could say that's typical for a Democrat but I do try to look at all possible situations and outcomes and whatever before I just spit out talking points.

I would rather have other nations hate us than live through The Great Depression. Hell, 2008 was a little too close for comfort, but that's just me.  Biden really has been given a bad hand though. The pandemic, economy and obstruction are all ugly right now. For some reason gas prices have always been a big issue for voters. I don't quite understand why given that prices are so much higher in other countries.

Well there's a major problem.  It doesn't matter what Republicans want or advise him to do or whatever.  If he runs he's going to win.  They're burying their heads in the sand and keep saying that someone is going to emerge, someone's going to be a front-runner, etc.  And NO one is or WILL be.  And if one of the sane ones like Kinzinger were to emerge Trump and his people would absolutely destroy him.  He has destroyed the Republican party and they cannot see it.  They think they're just fine, while he sits and waits for his victim.

I think so too, but this time I'm hopeful enough to think he won't be around to run. I can't imagine living through that nightmare again.
