Clarence Thomas had it in his concurring opinion.

Yes and contraception. It's terrifying. They are salivating at the idea of hurting women and ripping apart marriages. These people are truly evil.

For anyone who is familiar with the NewsHour on PBS and has watched their opinion commentators. Mark Shields often challenged the opinions of David Brooks (that usually needed to be challenged). May he rest in peace.

Yes, MS was on a Sunday discussion panel I used to watch as a teenager. I can't recall the name of it. Tucker was on it too, but that was before his human suit started slipping. I always liked him.

Yes, also where they booed Cornyn and attacked Dan Crenshaw and his staff (no tears left to cry on that front...). In past years people would say oh these are the extremists, not the people in power. That is far from the case now. They run everything. @JaneAusten talked above about the basic stupidity of voters that I've been thinking about ever since. I keep hoping they will not just welcome fascism because of gas prices and inflation, but it's hard to hope for anything beyond waking up in the  morning.

I'm worried about this too. These prices have to be hitting the lower middle class and working poor really hard. In a reasonable society we would just raise the amount you can make while getting food stamps and hand out $500 gift cards to people under a certain income.  In this country we will do nothing because the Republicans will block it. I think we should force them to block an aid bill instead of not even trying to pass one (as far as I know).

You thought Scott Baldwyn was stalking Liz? Why? Romantic revenge for Franco?

I didn't find Esme & Nik's boink funny in any way! Sickening, porn-like but really very much ado about nothing! They barely have enough to flashback to. Thank God.

Yes. I figured Scott lost his mind after losing his 3rd child and that he didn't want Liz to forget Franco and move on. I figured he'd do a stint in Shady Brooke and eventually come back. I'm really glad that didn't happen though.

Well in four more years Terry will get another date.

Scott belongs in this story as he has basically become Elizabeth's surrogate dad since Asshat's death. Having him to lean on could easily give him more screen time, and Shriner interacting with Genie Francis is always great television.

Lucas should be the head of the Emergency Department of GH. He should be mentoring T. J. and a few non contract occasional young doctors.  If Ryan Carnes isn't interested in returning, how about David Tom, Mark Hapka, Trevor Donovan?

Lucky should be   working as a WSB Agent trailing Victor Cassadine  and could return to town as an investigator working for Robert at the District Attorney's Office. (They also need to put Chase back to Detective and forego all the b.s.)

There's no legitimate reporter in town, so a return for Lulu would fill an empty space on the canvas, while dropping some unnecessary dead weight from the cast. She'd be working with Alexis, an added plus. If not Berman, any recast with talent and chemistry with GF and DZ works for me.

I love these ideas and Scott as part of Liz's family.  I think David Tom would be wonderful as Lucky. In any case it's time to recast, imo.

  4. I really thought Scott was going to end up being Liz's stalker. I'm glad they didn't go in that direction.

I agree the love scene between Nik and Esme was funny, but it was also disturbing. I keep thinking how Tyler Christopher is nearly 50. It didn't look as bad optically with new Nik, but we basically have a much older character screwing his son's mentally disturbed and coerced (by Ryan) teen GF.   It's legal, but still gross. I can't wait for Laura to find out. No doubt Esme will be carrying the next Cassidine. Laura and Ava are going to make Nik's life hell and I am here for it.

I don't mind that Terry "lost" Chet. I love that they are writing her as not the least bit desperate. They barely knew each other, so onward. I just hope there is an onward.

I agree they need to recast Lucas ASAP.  It's time to bring either Lucky or LuLu back as well.

Oh, yeah, I remember the scene. I am just so used to Spencer being an ass. I don't have a very high opinion of him. He's so entitled & he just pops off with stuff he says! It may be a minority opinion but I don't like him. The rest of the Young Adults I am high on.

That makes two of us. Even the way he talks to Esme bothers me. He comes across as dangerous, but I don't think that's what the writers are going for. On the other hand he is a Cassidine and he has already done some pretty bad things, so who knows.

I want Trina to get to choose between Spencer and Rory and then make the smart decision.  At the same time is that going to lead to another pairing like Molly/TJ where there is just no story because they are both straight arrows.

  6. 1 hour ago, Tonksadora said:

That the hospital gang now regularly has Girls' Night Out extends the hospital into the community, too. And, of course, the other ladies have had their axe throwing sessions. But, what did Spencer say to Britt? He's always been rather a smart aleck when it came to her & she puts up with it, so that is on her.

I can't remember word for word. He went to her for help identifying a pill he found in Esme's stuff. It was what she drugged Trina with at the cabin. Brit was questioning him about why he had the medicine and said if it was Esme's she might have a serious drug problem. Then he basically rubbed her face in the face that she wasn't in a relationship. It was just nasty and Brit told him not to come crying to her if things go wrong.

    And my thought was...

    MY EYES!!!! MY EYES!!!!

I knew it was a matter of time but...ewwwwwwwww. I'm not sure if that was worth the gothic, but Greek tragedy that I wanted that to be going forward. Because why it's clear where Spencer's heart lies...you just know he's going to feel some kind of way about his father doing THAT. The father that supposingly is supposed to love him?

I most DEFINITELY am here for Ava going scorched earth on that wannabe when it comes out. ;)

    Thanks for the heads-up @AbcNbc247

Right!!? If they were to have Nic do something this stupid and gross it should have taken a lot longer. There needed to be more motivation. I know Laura was talking about how Nic can be selfish a few weeks ago, but come ON!!

On other fronts, I don't hate Sonny (can't believe I wrote that). I've always hated him, but both he and Carly are better apart. I actually like him with Nina. The show doesn't seem quite as misogynistic as it used to be, so that helps. Although I nearly hurled when Carly was bragging to Ava about surviving all Sonny's flavors of the week. Gross! Just stop making that character demean herself. LW deserves better.

I also like the friendship groups the show has. It's nice to see all of these characters interact instead of being stuck in just their romantic pairing. I really like Brit/Maxie/Lisel/Nina as a friend group. Joss/Trina/Cam are ok too. Spencer can lick rocks after the way he talked to Brit.

How the hell can anyone even think of comparing those two things??!!

Yeah. That is the type of comparison that will completely invalidate a person's position. I support a certain amount of loan forgiveness for low income people. Maybe some sort of matching situation like pay $5,000 get $2,500 forgiven. Maybe even just stopping the interest, but the comparison  turns me off completely to that cause. My take away is that we have much bigger fish to fry.

There are kids marching and protesting in cities that already have strict gun laws but I don’t see this action in other places. If the votes don’t matter, if voting doesn’t work, then what is the alternative? In places where people feel that their voting processes are suppressed and therefore don’t matter, what is the alternative of making change? Stacey Abrams made change, significant change in GA. Are people waiting for Stacey to fix everything for everybody?
This is not to blame the victims but a genuine question about what can be done. There is the aspect that a percentage of the population, a portion of which are Latino, vote Republican, that cannot be ignored. It must be addressed in these representation issues.

I am far from an expert, so I am genuinely interested in people’s thoughts on this.

I was speaking specifically about Florida and Texas.

Several high schools here in Omaha have had school walk outs today. I'm guessing it's happening in many places just not on huge scales.

I honestly don't know what we can do. There are areas where our government is corrupt through and through and gun control is one of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm over all happy to be American. No amount of Russian or Chinese bots will make me believe we are an evil empire, but we have some huge problems and this is one of them.

  10. This seems so odd to me. On the one hand I admire that France has a secular government, but my American sensibilities balk at this level of government control (Always remember the forced birthers are the minority). I also feel bad for the individuals. It's not like these women are just going to throw on a bikini. They just won't be allowed to swim.

Abbott talked about mental illness and nothing about gun issues. Later he said how things were much worse in Chicago and New York where they have strict gun laws.

It's hard to understand how they can live with themselves.   :(

I'm guessing they just keep telling themselves the same old lies. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". They make me sick, but when it comes to Cruz we all know what a cowardly sell out he is. I expect nothing but the worst from that man.

  12. I don't agree that animals should have human rights, but I would like them to have the right not to suffer outrageously.  I'm expecting regulations on puppy mills and such to be completely rolled back in red states. The idea that an elephant will get human rights in 2022 America is laughable.  We should probably focus on getting them for all humans first.

There are a lot worse things to go after on this board (including transphobia) vs. us calling Cawthorn out for his own self-loathing homophobia.

Exactly. He wouldn't be mocked by people on the left for being a cross dresser or trans or anything else, if he weren't trying to demonize other people for their identities. People are simply calling him out for his hypocrisy.

Maybe it's just me, but referring to a man as Miss, while talking about homophobia, doesn't really feel ok to be perfectly honest.

If MC was just some famous person in the closet I would totally agree with you.  In fact I'm a cis, straight white woman, so I won't be calling him anything. Still, I get why people who are members of the gay community are calling him out. I feel they have that right, but hey, that's just me.

  14. It goes without saying that replacement theory is bullshit. I know I shouldn't even try to use logic, but don't these idiots know that black people have been in the U.S. longer than most of their own ancestors? I feel like things are slipping into madness again. There was this brief calm when Biden took over and now it's just overwhelming horror.

  15. I know MJF is right and they are going to keep pushing, but there is some other part of me that just can't accept it can go any further.  Then I read how seriously ignorant these people are and I know that it can.  There was a lull when Biden took over, but now once again I feel we are in serious danger.  Society can't really be shaped the way the far right wants to shape it without a lot of people being killed or "reeducated".

Maxie and Austin are just terrible. Then again, Austin would be terrible with anyone. But seriously, they've barely gone on a date and they already have no story. Georgie is already being trotted out to give them angst. She was funny. But man, they have absolutely no chemistry and their "kisses" (I don't think they're even really kissing most of the time) are beyond awkward.

Lucy and Martin have 10x more heat. I actually like them and am glad that Martin is back.

Anything with Michael and Willow is a huge snore. Is sweeps really going to revolve around this story? Both actors are like watching paint dry.

I do laugh that Rory is seemingly working every case in Port Charles.

I wish TJ had an actual story. He's on contract now but we just see him more as a doctor.

I agree and I like both characters/actors.  There is zero heat between them. How this show managed to ruin Maxie is beyond me. They just cannot figure out to do with RH and that is a damn shame. He never should have been Franco and bringing Todd on with all that baggage was also a mistake.

Willow is not a great character and with Michael it's beyond boring. CD is more attractive now that he is older and Michael has some personality. Hook him up with someone hot (maybe Brit) and give them some conflict.

What's up with this Mac/Felicia baby talk? Do the writers know these characters are 60 years old? It's weird and I have no idea where they're going with this.

I could go for Max and Felicia taking in a foster teen. I'm expecting Mac's kid from someone else to show up.

I've always thought the first woman President would be a Republican. At this point, likely someone even to the right of Sarah Palin.

What a grim thought. You're probably right. Serena Joy 2028!! There is a chance Kamala will get it, especially if JB is reelected. I'm not wishing any harm to him though of course.

ICYMI, with VP Harris casting the decisive vote, this happened yesterday. Oh America, still having firsts in 2022?

Let's savor it, since it may be the last for a good long while. It's hard to imagine a woman President when Roe is over turned. You can't trust a woman to make a personal choice about her own body, but you trust her to lead the country? I can't help but think more sexism is on the horizon thanks to SCOTUS.

It kind of makes you wonder what other kind of stories exist. I'm guessing that Lindsey Graham has a lot to be afraid of.

Absolutely. This story was hinted at in the original Times piece, but they didn't quite have the goods and so many people were lying.  At the same time, a campaign being brought down by a long term affair with a woman 30 years younger seems almost quaint now.  The other part with the lobbyist in the pocket of the Russians feels like a part of D.C. that really is a bottomless swamp. I dare say everyone has their fingers in that pie.

Still a bad guy, but happily the worst was avoided.
