I will bet $25 with any board member that he will run again. The only he doesn't run is either he's dead or his health declines. The American Right worships this man like he's a deity. Payable via Cash App or Venmo.

Please God make it happen. We just can't go through that again. I don't even mean him winning. Just the idea of him running is enough to send me screaming into the night. It's like a Jason movie, except in this case Jason is old and unwell, so there's real hope he will not be capable of running again.

I won't breathe easier 'til that's confirmed. Everyone made the mistake of underestimating/dismissing this piece of schitt back in 2016. I'm not doing that again, not with all of the crazies that still back him.

Yes, and people are more susceptible to disinformation than I ever would have believed even six years ago. It's unreal.  I mean, we have actual nurses believing that the Covid vaccine makes their bodies magnetic. WTAF??

Do you still have AMC? It's going bonkers today and it's up 1,223% (as of this post) in the last 6 months.  LOL

I only kept a few of my shares, darn it!  How about you? What a ride for those meme stocks!!

Nothing of any major consequence is going to happen to Trump or any of the high officials who were involved in the insurrection. The ones that end up leaving office often end up in the  business world making seven or eight figure salaries in some sort of made up position. The few rubes that have been convicted by a lower court will simply be pardoned by the next Republican president (Donald Trump). That Republican president will use the DOJ to go after political rivals whether they are private citizens or not and the "but the Biden and Garland didn't do it" crowd will be yelling that out to no avail.

Hopefully he'll die before the next election.

  4. Wow. He drugged and raped all of those women and they were going to let him out already. The sentencing for sex crimes is so disproportionate to the harm cause. Glad he was too proud to get himself out.

  5. @DRW50I am horrified at the number of people who believe in Q. I studiously avoided even knowing what Q was about until about six months ago. Then recently I watched the HBO documentary. Have you seen it? By the second episode it was nearly unwatchable, because the people he is talking to seem so f*cking stupid (talk about word salads!), but I kept going. Slowly but surely you realize he is on the right track and that only some of them are stupid. There are some master manipulators involved, who are very good at pretending to be stupid. Then there are the ones just smart enough to latch on to the main grifters.

Q really is like a certain type of religion. The kind of modern religion that is documented to be absolute nonsense (Scientology, for example), but reality just doesn't matter to these kooks AT ALL.  Maybe it will all shake out OK, four years from now, but I am concerned.

  6. ^ Yeah, I'm pretty pro-Israel, but I can't get behind targeting the press in any way. This conflict will probably out live us all, sadly. Meanwhile, Biden is between a rock and a hard place on this issue. What a mess.

We really are living in chaos. I guess it's nothing new, but I feel it so much more these last few years. We've got the Republican party seemingly turning against democracy, while telling us bald faced lies with no shame at all. A humanitarian crisis on our boarder. An untold number of people believing crazy Q conspiracies. God knows how many people dying of Covid in India and Brazil. Asian people being assaulted over Covid because we learned absolutely nothing from the way gay men were scapegoated in the 80's. Things get more absurd by the day.

  7. ^ That is terrifying. I feel like the Biden presidency is a little dinghy and we are surrounded by sharks waiting for their chance.

I've spent the last six months quietly celebrating a return to normal, but I'm coming back to reality now. I watched that Q documentary on HBO which was really disturbing. I'd say at best we have a 50/50 chance of beating these nuts back.

I am still astounded that an Anglo-Saxon caucus exists in the Republican party, so baldly and freely. I shouldn't be, after everything else witnessed in the past decade or so but I am.

We really are in Bizzaro World or as the young folks say, this really is the worst timeline.

I'm telling you. He needs to be convicted even if it's on one of the lesser charges. Though I definitely hopes he gets the maximum punishment.

If not, yikes. It will be worse than it was the first time around after people saw him kill George. Businesses will burn, people will probably get hurt, maybe even die. We don't need that, Derek Chauvin needs to go to prison.

Me too. I'm not sure what to think. In the Caylee Anthony case I thought for sure that bitch would be convicted. It was a short deliberation and she got off. Hopefully this will be a short deliberation because the evidence was so clear.

I don't buy any of this from them. They will probably form a new caucus under a slightly less ugly name and then we will be invited to praise them for their moderation. It's all a game.

That's what I was thinking too. I don't even know what an "Anglo-Saxon political tradition" is supposed to mean in this context. I guess I could read some articles and find out, but I refuse to listen to whatever nutty ideas they are shilling.

My parents got the Pfizer too and have been fine. I'm no scientist in the least but judging by news of some recent trials against a couple variants, Pfizer seems to be the current gold standard and Moderna is also very good.

The UK system is very much 'book the appointment, go to the vaccine location, and you get what they give you on the day.' Astra Zeneca has been officially associated with some blood clots but, unlike J&J, the UK is unwilling to pause its rollout.

Because they are smart. There have been six cases of blood clots with J&J. Meanwhile half a million people are dead of covid in the U.S. Plus the more cases the more mutations. It seems pretty clear to me the disease is more risky than the vaccine by a lot. I do wish everyone could just get Pfizer or Moderna though in case they really are better with the variants.

Meanwhile, we should be helping Brazil and Mexico as soon as possible before a vaccine resistant mutation comes along. I hate to even think about it.

There is this weird denial about what is going on. Cases are rising again and some variants are more communicable and infect younger people at a greater rate than the original virus. Good lord, Michigan is in a state of complete disaster. But sure, let's open up when we should probably be closing down again.

I've been volunteering at a nursing home and you wouldn't believe (actually, I know you would) how many people give me flak about needing to mask up if they want to hug their elderly relation. I admit, the rules are a lot like prison visitation. A thirty second masked hug before and after the 20 min visit. But it's like people seem not to understand that even if they are vaccinated a variant could break through and infect all these vulnerable elderly people before anyone realizes it's happening. This pandemic is not over.

Loathsome J acob Wohl claimed Gaetz is bisexual. For once I would tend to believe him, mainly in a way in which his interest in allegedly taking advantage of people does not stop at gender.

Yeah. I can hardly believe what this guy has been up to. There are so many freaks/crackpots/criminals in The House right now.

For some reason I thought you had already gotten your vaccine. Glad you did!

My parents were in lines for hours for the vaccine. I tried going to the same local as them but no way was I waiting 8 plus hours to get vaccinated. I was able to go to my local clinic and was done in about 30 minutes. The clinic was better coordinated than where my folks went.

Thank you! I'm glad you were able to get it without much waiting.

I walked in the building and within 5 minutes I had the shot. There was no waiting until the 15 minute period where they watch for reactions.  Unfortunately I live in a state where a lot of people are completely convinced this is a bad vaccine. It's incredibly frustrating.

I have to say that out here on the north left coast, things have been run extremely well.  My grandson is fully vaccinated as he is an educator.   All teachers jumped the line here by order of our governor.  People were clamoring to reopen schools, but got a bit testy when teachers got extraordinary treatment.  Some people only know how to bitch!

So true! Teachers absolutely should be prioritized.

Normally I wouldn't share this but he's just a few hours south of me and those of us living in red states need all the support we can get..

This is infuriating and incredibly sad. He has nothing to prove to all the hateful SOBs out there.

  16. I managed to get my first shot today, although the roll out here is a mess due to govonor Ricketts. The county program is only doing 55 plus. The clinic I went to had hundreds of open appointments. So I waited until just before the cutoff time and made an appointment, even though I'm only 47. I half expected to be turned away, but no one even questioned it even though there were like 5 check points.

What a waste of resources. They had everything set up and staff there. They should have opened it up to people with a comorbidity or younger people. Instead about 400 appointments went to waste. When I first signed up I had some ethical reservations about jumping the line. I'm still not sure it was right, but I volunteer at a residential home helping elderly folk with family visits. Right or wrong I'm happy I got it, both for myself and the residents, some of whom can't get get a vaccine due to their conditions.

    That is good to hear.

Oh, how I hollered on my way to transit when I read that. If only.  I've been joking around that getting the vaccine's motivation for me is that two months for now I can do just that. ;) And goodness knows there's a lot of bubble running around like it's springtime.

Well...set up for Thursday. And as I type my mother is getting vaccinated.

    This week though...:)

Glad to hear that you and your mom are getting vaccinated. Your family has been through a lot.
