It seems like there is little footage available on youtube of Deborah's time in the role. Those clips posted above were uploaded 6 years ago. I wish the uploader would have done the entire episodes. I noticed Kevin at the end of one. I was in school at this time and only got to see it on vacation, holiday, or when sick (or faked sick). I was home the day Nikki & Victor got married.

I kind of wonder what Jill would have been like if Deborah Adair had stayed in the role. Would Bill Bell fully redeem her like the Rachel character had been on AW or would he still have done the same storylines that he wrote for Brenda ? Jerry Douglas loved working with Deborah. I wonder what he thought when he was suddenly paired with Brenda, since he only had worked with Adair ?

It seemed Brenda was channeling Joan Collins on Dynasty. I remember laughing at her antics as a kid and wondering why she started speaking with a eurotrash accent.

Thanks for the 1979 summary and the 1991 article. I remember when that brawl happened and knew that Eric Braeden was probably running his mouth to provoke it. I wish we could get our hands on some complete episodes from 79, especially Greg & Nikki's wedding. I remember reading a long time ago that Liz gave her mothers wedding ring to Greg to give to Nikki on their wedding day. I wonder how much Nikki interacted with the Brooks sisters other than Chris at this point ? I know later Peggy went undercover in the cult to help Nikki & Paul. It seems like Nikki had more interaction with Leslie & Lorie during her Victor period. Bill Bell had storyline groupings that kept certain characters isolated from others. Nikki was friends with Brock, but didn't interact with Katherine till she started working at the Bayou and Cash became Kay's boy toy. Casey knew Katherine and Victor before Nikki. Speaking of Cash, Katherine took Liz down to the Bayou to see him strip, and Liz was embarrased. When Liz told Stu, he was laughing his butt off and told her maybe he needed to get some sexy stuff to entertain her at home, so she wouldn't have to go all the way out to there. .

Yes it is. I read that Eileen Davidson suggested Brenda to replace her on Y&R when she decided to leave.

I crack up at Eric Braden's short shorts and tube socks. I know we wore them like that back then, but still. Lynn Topping looked similar to Victoria Mallory with the dark hair. It's interesting to see Abbott's and Brooks in the same group, knowing the Abbotts would replace them shortly. At this point Dennis Cole was gone, but Tom Ligon was still on. Melody was pregnant here with her daughter.

Victor's first house boy was named Charlie. It looks like they aged Brooks quickly after Vanessa's death. He went from about age 4 to age 10. They probably didn't trust the 4 year old with lines.....LOL

Thanks for more of the Leslie/Lorie/Lance/Lucas saga. Brooks is played by child actor Andre Gower. Andre went on to star in a bunch stuff including Monster Squad. Victor always was full of himself. Funny when he mentioned the lady dancer living with him. I wonder if she recognized Nikki as Greg's ex wife when she finds out who's living there. Love hearing the old music cues again. Y&R kept them through the 90's, then they messed things up by doing away with them and replaced them with horrible crap.

Speaking of the Foster/Brooks. Did Liz and Stuart officially divorce ? I know they seperated and Liz was furious when she found out Stu told Greg to go after Chris when she and Snapper were having problems. There was also the thing of Stu dating Gina for a while and Liz was jealous. Stu then disappeared around 1984 to never be seen or heard from again. Liz reverted back to Mrs. Foster. I was just a pre-school aged kid at the time the 1982 transition was taking place to the Abbotts and remember fragments of storylines from that time. I remember being taken with Lilibet Stern who played Patty. I also remember when Cash was murdered by loan sharks. I wish we could get some more complete episodes from 1982.

Thanks for more Lance/Lorie. I know Robert wound up dating Leslie and his daughter Angela was played by Liz Keifer. Angela was a friend of Tracy Abbott. Dennis Cole is the Lance I remember most, since I was a little kid pre-school age watching at this time.

I hope the uploads haven't stopped. I love seeing vintage Y&R. I hope to see more of the Leslie/Lorie/Lance/Lucas storyline. Do you have any of Nikki & Kevin Bancroft and his psycho mother Allison ?

WOW ! Thanks for more vintage treasures. Vanessa was determined to screw Lorie over before she died. I noticed they just sent one officer up to question her before Carl came in.This day and time they would send an entire force and kick down the door and make Lorie & Lucas get down on the ground. I hope you have some scenes of the funeral where Lucas opens the coffin and screams at Lorie "Look what you did to my Mother"

I knew Lucas pined for Lorie, but she and Leslie were both obsessed with drippy Lance. I just wondered if Lucas ever got to take the lid off the sisters cookie jar. In the last Leslie & Lorie clip posted, Leslie hinted she was ready to dump him the minute the baby was born. She later hooked up with that Jonas character played by Jerry Lacy.

Tom Ligon finally shaved that mess off his face half way through his run and it made him look like a different person. He and Casey were an interesting pairing. I saw a 1980 promo where they were arguing about her finding him bed with someone. Was it Leslie or Lorie ? Did Lucas ever actually get to sleep with the Brooks sisters ?

Lorie left not long after Julia returned. I think Victor came to Lorie's place to talk to her and Julia hid in the closet so Victor wouldn't see her. Then a very pregnant Nikki arrived and an argument started. Julia was listening to all of this from the closet......LOL Poor Kevin Bancroft got the short end of the stick. He wanted to make his marriage to Nikki work and assumed the child was his, but Nikki wanted old prune puss and never let him forget it. Kevin had been involved with a woman named Carolyn, but he was willing to let her go to do right by Nikki. There is a clip on youtube of when Victor was presumed dead and Nikki is carrying on at the funeral and says in front of Kevin " Victor was the only man she truly loved". Ouch ! Nikki was also screaming at Julia. At the time they had Victor mentioning the age difference between him and Nikki and thought Kevin was more suited to her age wise. Boy did they forget that in time when they had him involved with younger and younger women. I wonder why the show let Christopher Holder (Kevin) go ? He always stated in interviews at the time how he loved being on the show and cast members were fond of him. He and Melody even did a Tattletales during TV couples week. I think they could have had Kevin hook up with Julia or Ashley. I noticed in the 70's the show mostly had dark haired men, in the early 80's they switched to mostly blonde men (Jack, Greg, Kevin, Cash, Lance, Lucas, Paul, Andy etc...

Thanks for giving us more Leslie/Lorie/Lance & Lucas. When I see quick cuts of other scenes, I wish they hadn't edited them out. Like the Jill & Liz scene. Lorie keeps going on about how Leslie has hurt her, but she forgets she was the one who caused Leslie's mental breakdown by trying to take her first husband Brad away then writing the tell all manuscript that Vanessa got hold of. The book caused the press to hound Leslie which sent her close to another breakdown. Lance comforted her which led to the one night stand.

Bond Gideons daughter posted on youtube asking if they had any footage of her mother as Jill. When Lorie was on trial for Vanessa's murder, Victor didn't like the way Lance & Lucas acted, so he secretly bought up Prentiss stock and took the company away from Lance. Lorie then reconciled with Lance and decided she wanted to get his company back. She first was going to write a scathing biography of him (Much like Leanna's Ruthless years later). She and Victor started dating seriously. Lucas & Leslie told Lorie she might be getting in over her head. Lorie then started trying to pump info out of Victor's ex wife Julia when she came back to GC. Nikki who was pregnant with Victoria at the time, was forced into a marriage to Kevin Bancroft by Victor. Victor insisted he was not the babys father and said he had a vasectomy. Nikki hated Lorie for being with Victor. I think there was a scene where the elevator in Lorie's building went out and a very pregnant Nikki climbed the stairs to confront Lorie & Victor. I believe Julia was there as well. Lorie got Victor to give her the Prentiss stock as a wedding present. On Lorie & Victor's wedding day she left him at the altar saying she still loved Lance. She had screwed over the great Victor Newman. When she returned in 2002, the writers threw her under the bus along with Julia having them fawn all over Victor. Lorie went on about how she regretted not marrying him. YUCK !

Those 1979 recaps were fun to read. They go into more details than what was in the Y&R book. Erica Hope was let go around December 78 or early January 79 and Melody Thomas Scott started playing Nikki in February 79. I never knew that Snapper was that dead set against Greg marrying Nikki, but you couldn't blame him. Chris seemed to accept Nikki instantly and helped her plan their wedding and reception in the Brooks house. Chris even loaned her wedding gown to Nikki. I also thought Greg & Nikki married in November, but it was September. Another thing that was surprising was that Nikki was forced by Rose to help her dump Mr. Addisons body along the road. In the Y&R book they said it was Vince who helped Rose and that it was an alley they left it in.

There is also a 1979 audio clip on youtube of Nikki and Greg Foster after they are first married. Nikki tells Greg she wants to be a model and mentions an ad in the paper. After Greg goes to work, Nikki calls the number and it is a fake modeling agency ran by Rose DeVille and her partner Vince. What Nikki doesn't know it is a front for a prostitution ring. On the TV Guide web site, there is a page of Melody Thomas Scott's 35th Y&R anniversary. There is a 1979 video clip on there where Rose sends Nikki to meet a Mr. Addison in a motel room about a modeling job. When she figures out he wants to sleep with her, she locks herself in the bathroom. As he pounds on the door, he suffers a heart attack and dies. The starts off a chain reaction that costs Nikki her marriage to Greg.
