  1. Thanks for the articles. They scream 1982, especially Randy Hamilton talking about his new Firebird with the T-tops.

Randy followed in Michael Young's footsteps by hosting two shows he did. Young hosted a show on early Nickelodeon called America Goes Bananaz then left and Randy replaced him. Young then hosted Kids Are People Too and Randy later hosted on that show as well.

  2. God bless Nolan Miller. He was just as every bit as important as the cast members of the shows he designed clothes for.

I agree. His interviews are hilarious to watch. When he tells dirt, it's like he doesn't do it intentionally, it just casually comes out of his mouth.

I noticed Brock Broughton the set designer on Dynasty also designed the sets on Y&R in the 70's. His name is in the credits on the old episodes on posted in the Y&R thread.

  3. Great to see these episodes.

This is the first time I've seen Tom Selleck,Susan Brown and Paul Stevens on Y&R.

So Susan's character Fran was an old friend of Stu's and a possible romantic interest.Any one know how long she was on and how far her story progressed?

Didn't Lanna Saunders play Mrs Selleck? I know Y&R wanted to sign Tom but he refused so they eventually dropped him. I wonder what story Bill Bell would have played had Jed stayed on. Maybe a variation of the Lance/Lorie story?

I remember reading that Tom wanted to sign a contract with Y&R, but Bill Bell wasn't sure he was leading man material because of his high voice. He wrote the character out in 1975. Years later when he found success as Magnum PI and as a 80's heartthrob, Bell said he kicked himself for not signing him.

  4. Mr. Anderson, anyway. I get the feeling Mrs. Anderson doesn't fully believe everything that her husband does. They're probably Jehovah's Witnesses, though of course they'd never mention the religion on TV. Or is it the Christian Scientists who are fully against medical treatment? I know Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in blood transfusions, but about other medical care, I have no idea.

As for Ed Stark, Matt is probably giving him chance after chance as a favor to Ed's father and hospital board member, Paul. That's my theory on that issue, anyway.

I feel sorry for Mrs. Anderson. I bet the confrontation with Mr. Anderson & Althea/ Nick is going to be must see TV. I wonder if they will mention what religion they are it being 1968 ?

  5. I can't believe Dorothy Green who played Jennifer didn't get nominated for the mastectomy story. Her performance blew me away from the episodes I saw above. The scenes where she learns she has cancer and asks the girls to leave her alone for a while and then breaks down and when she wakes up and tells Snapper she doesn't want to live like this is heart wrenching.

  6. On the Another World board there was discussion about the 1978 Emmy Awards. It got me to thinking, why was Y&R and it's performers never nominated or considered for emmys till the mid 1980's ?

The 70's and early 80's had fantastic actors on the show that was deserving of a nomination. Jeanne Cooper and Brenda Dickson had the major storyline of Jill/Phillip/Katherine. I have heard that Janice Lynde's performance during Leslie's mental breakdown was worthy of an award. Jamie Lyn Bauer had lots of meaty material during her entire time on the show. Y&R it seems was never on the ballot.

  7. Wasn't Tiny the plumber the guy that knocked Esther up with Kate'Chloe"?

Yes he was. I wonder why they never brought him back when they aged Chloe. If they couldn't get the original actor or wanted to recast. They could have gotten someone zany like Matthew Cowles.

  8. I never thought John and Felicia were a viable couple and the show was just trying to find story for Linda Dano. I did like the Felicia/Sharlene rivalry but I wish it hadn't been from Felicia going after John.

Of course, I never liked the Carl/Rachel pairing either. I thought that this made no sense whatsoever on Rachel's part after all of Carl's doings in the past. I know it provided a lot of story for her kids to not approve of the relationship...but for it to go on as long as it did just makes me shake my head. This isn't to say that Vicky and Charles didn't have great chemistry because they did but I'd rather have seen them have a flirtatious rivalry than full-on relationship. It seemed the show never really tried a third in a triangle for Rachel which is a shame because I'm sure there were plenty of "known" actors who could have come on and worked well with them.

Vicki Wyndham adopted that fake british accent when she paired up with Charles Keating. I saw that VW 25th special and to see her old way of acting in the flashbacks and the way she was acting/speaking in the current storyline was jarring.

  9. The Lila Anderson story has me interested for some reason. I want to see how they handle this on 1968 daytime.

The husband Ralph seems like the sterotypical 60's husband that screams at his wife, thinks she's a ninny, knows whats best for her, tells her how to think and feel etc.....
