  1. Getting back to PSM, I also read elsewhere that she was fired from her role as Nancy Drew because she had posed for Playboy. It seems from her departure from both her famous roles, there are contradictions.

Anyway, which Fallon do you think John James' Jeff had more chemistry with - PSM or ES?

How long after Michael the chauffer was dropped did his portrayer, Wayne Northrop, join DAYS?

There are contradictions concerning PSM leaving her roles. I thought PSM posed for the spread after she left Nancy Drew as a way to get back at the producers. I have also read over the years she wanted leave Dynasty early on and kept saying "I've got to get off this show"

I think PSM had the best chemistry with John James.

Wayne Northrop started appearing on Days in late 1981, so he must have gotten the job shortly after being let go from Dynasty. I have seen episodes posted of when he first appeared.

  2. This episode shows what an elegant era the 60's was. Notice Althea removing her gloves and head scarf when entering the house. The house was decorated with expensive traditional furnishings etc.....Soaps wouldn't return to the glamour till the 80's.

Liz Hubbard is so young and pretty. She looks like a fashion model for 60's Vogue.

  3. Lynn Marie Latham the hack that she is decided to kill John Abbott off. I read that she didn't find it believable a man would be the founder of a women's cosmetics company.

That woman did so much damage and the show has fell apart. Y&R died with Bill Bell.

  4. I laugh at the season 2 cliffhanger scene where Claudia is acting campy when Jeff & Fallon ask her about the baby and she rambled on about borrowing the mercedes and seeing a strange foreign man etc....

Dynasty had tons of laugh out loud moments. One over the top one was when Adam painted Jeff's office with toxic paint......LOL

  5. DRW50 thanks for the awesome Dina & Jill clip. I was watching this as a kid and loved their confrontations. Marla Adams needs to be back on Y&R as head of the Abbott clan NOW . Brenda was her same ole crazy campy self here.

I remember one time Jill was going to redecorate and she said she wanted to get rid of all this old stuff and that it was outdated just like Dina.

  6. Thank You for more Leslie/Lorie/Lance/Lucas. I noticed the dark haired child actor playing Brooks here was cast to look like Victoria Mallory, but then they aged him and recast with blonde Andre Gower to look like Dennis Cole.

This was prior to the Gala Ball, so that explains why Lorie wanted to stick it to Leslie again. I think it would have made more sense and drama for Lucas to of been the one to walk into the ball with Lorie on his arm instead of that fake accented creep.

  7. I remember seeing Cricket's rape when it aired in 1989 and being repulsed how Derek acted like it was no big deal. The Cassandra story was one of my favorites at the time along with Leanna Love's antics.

I think the first 20 years (1973-1993) of Y&R was the golden era.

  8. Well, the circumstances of PSM vacating the role of Nancy Drew were a pretty different. Nolan Miller also went way back with Aaron Spelling - I think they began working together in the late '50s/early '60s.

Didn't she leave because they wanted to combine both shows into one so Shaun Cassidy would get more air time ? PSM & Parker Stevenson did a film before the series and they have been interviewed together in recent years and did another film together.

There were a lot of Pamela's (Pamela Sue Martin, Pamela Bellwood, Pamela Hensley) on Spelling shows in the 80's. I wonder if Nolan had to make notes to keep them straight for costuming ? Pamela Hensley was a gorgeous woman and I'm surprised she quit acting after Matt Houston went off the air. She did marry the producer of that series E. Duke Vincent. She could have been used on a primtime soap along with Lee Horsley. Lee Horsley's career seems to have ended pretty much by the 2000's.

  9. Nolan Miller was a hidden gem of Hollywood gossip, he knew where all the bodies were buried and he didn't give a flying f*ck about whether people cared for his opinion because he was saying it anyway...and he was kind.

He and Joan Collins were very, very close friends. In her 2013 memoir, Passion for Life, she has a section on her close friends and Nolan has several pages dedicated to him. Although he and Linda went way back it was Joan who he stuck with. Joan hosted his memorial, inviting several Dynasty cast members, all dressed super glamorously.

Nolan, like Joan, thought Pamela Sue Martin was so stupid to quit the show when she did, especially since Emma Samms, while generally panned as Fallon, was extremely well liked behind the scenes and secured herself the job for life.

I wish Pamela hadn't quit, but she did the same thing when she played Nancy Drew when that show got popular. Nolan seemed to give his opinions in a kind way, even if they seemed harsh.

He talked about doing the Love Boat and having to help put Lauren Tewes together and teach her to walk in high heels. They never asked him about the Spelling show Matt Houston and working with Lee Horsley & Pamela Hensley.

  10. JLB looks like Sissy Spacek in that first SOD cover with John McCook. A lot of people assumed that David Hasselhoff would wind up marrying Roberta Leighton (Casey Reed) since they dated for years. He then wound up wed to Catherine Hickland from Capitol.

  11. Yeah, Nolan Miller was interviewed in the David Hofstede/Jack Condon book The Charlie's Angels Casebook and had nothing but kind things to say about Jaclyn Smith ("such a wonderful girl...so warm"), Farrah Fawcett ("she had a lot of style", and she and Jaclyn would always report to him about the fashions they had seen on Rodeo Drive on weekends, giving him an idea of what they would like to wear in upcoming episodes), Cheryl Ladd ("she was so easy to work with...always ready to approve anything I had sketched up for her") and Tanya Roberts ("Tanya was very sweet").

He wasn't as diplomatic about Kate Jackson, who wasn't nearly as interested in fashion as the other girls - "the one time I did design a beautiful gown for her, she came onto the set wearing it with Adidas sneakers". But he is also quoted as saying that he begged Aaron Spelling to hire Shelley Hack because he liked her sense of style. Maybe they fell out after she started on the show.

Getting back to Pamela Bellwood, her opening title sequence on Dynasty was just hilarious to me and many others, from comments I've read on various sites. She flips on a light switch. WOW!!!! At least Emma Samms got to ride a horse in hers.

In the archive interview he says when he saw Shelly Hack, he was really hoping she was going to be hired so he could dress her. Then after a few months, he said he and everyone wanted to get rid of that B****.

LOL at Pamela Bellwoods title sequence. I laughed at the scene in the pilot when she is in the kitchen cooking and she has these huge platform boots on that she can barely walk in to make her taller. Lindsey was just weird and annoying.

  12. Nolan Miller who did the clothes for Dynasty and all the Spelling shows did a long interview with the Archive Of American Television that was a hoot. He didn't hold back his opinions. He talked about Dynasty and said that no one was sorry when Pamela Bellwood left. He also said that by season 5 the show began to fall apart. He loved Linda and Joan. He and Linda go back to her Big Valley days in the 60's.

He also bashed several actresses from the other Spelling shows including Kate Jackson and Shelley Hack (he called her a cool.png

  13. I remember little bits and pieces of Edward & Nikki and the time bomb. I was around 4 when that happened. Paul Tully appeared on several soaps over the years. In the first season of Dallas, he played the school teacher that Lucy accuses of attempted rape.

I wonder why Jill or Nikki never reference Nikki & Greg's marriage ? I guess out of sight out of mind. The last time they even referred to it was back in the 90's when Nikki was going to marry Brad, Jack was talking to Ashley about the upcoming big event and he said " Nikki Reed Foster Bancroft Newman Abbott soon to be Carlton. I laughed so hard at that.

  14. Thanks for the Ball scenes. Lorie's dress was quite revealing for 1981, but by today's standards she is covered more than what celebs wear on the red carpet. Nice to see Katherine in scenes with Liz and The Brooks. I laughed at Liz questioning Kay about Mr. Cashen.....LOL

  15. He was Nikki's husband between Greg and Victor, right?

Yes. Victor insisted he was not the father of Victoria and that Kevin had to be. Kevin wanted to do right thing and married her, but Nikki treated him like dirt and pined for Victor.

  16. I don't have the full episode. People had been asking to see Adair scenes so I posted what I had. The next scene with Kevin lasts one second before it jumps, unfortunately.

Thanks for answering my question. I didn't realize you were the uploader and only had clips available. Too bad the Kevin scene got cut short. I was in school then and missed a lot of the Nikki/Kevin marriage.

Does anyone remember how Kevin was written out ? He had the blonde preppy Ted McGinley type look that was popular in the 80's.
