I am curious if the show made that distinction when SS came aboard in the 70's. Do you know? It's so sad misinformation gets spread around because all this time I thought he actually was the older brother due to everything I have read. I love there are people on this board that have the wealth of knowledge and watched at the time.

I thought the Doug III prison scenes were confusing as well. I think the black/white filming made it unclear yesterday. Today it made a little more sense. The Liz/Marie feud is pretty silly. Unless Neil reunited with Liz at some point before his death and was the father of her sons or something it seems petty to even care now. At least Maggie called them out. The Belle/Marlena scenes today and yesterday made continuity strange. John was gone on their anniversary, came back, and left again? Belle was there for the anniversary and came back to the funeral and Marlena is just now hearing she's been in Hong Kong and is having trouble with Shawn? The explanation of the John issue aside, Belle/Marlena just saw one another a few weeks ago lol. Overall, beautiful moments in the episode. Julie's monologue was quite special.

It's always such a shame to me we never got to see Brenda/Harlan interact-we just mostly heard about it from her POV. I always considered the Julia/Harlan dynamic very interesting because Julia seemed like she was groomed to be the heir her whole life, had a lot of pressure to be perfect and she was still so young. I can't say I minded Julia/Bill. TG and CC had nice chemistry. Oh, I absolutely believe Kevin's reaction was important to the episode. The duck stuff in the beginning just feels a bit out of place, but I can definitely understand where GH was coming from with some levity for such a heavy hour of tv. Jagger had flashbacks of his mom and boyfriend? when he first was trying to find his siblings. She left because he didn't want the kids around. It appeared Jagger was much older than Stone/Gina, but this was before both of those parts were cast. Jagger couldn't support two children at his age, so that's why they got split up into foster care. She was awful. I don't think we ever got a clear picture about the dad. I believe AJ was the first pitch for the HIV story. Someone can correct my if I am wrong, but it was nixed at the time. I always thought Nikki's son should have ended up as AJ's, but the time passed and then Michael became the main focus. I am not really sure WHY Jenny told Ned she was a virgin. It's not like he was. I would assume it was because she was ashamed of her past. Again, it just seemed dated at the time.

It didn't really feel like the show had anything planned out, but I always chalked it up to circumstances BTS fumbling it up a bit. It was one of those situations where the show went to all this trouble to lay out this elaborate mystery and bring Lesley back, but no one had a "what's next?" plan I guess lol. I can say I wasn't the biggest fan of the story.

Believe me, I didn't feel short. Tripods were injured and possibly murdered. The beginning of the story of her slowly breaking down was okay and her being triggered by Nik being shot outside Luke's made sense, even the light exploding at the photo shoot reminding her of gunshots worked. Vanessa was actually fine playing it subtlety, but once it had to be full manic breakdown, restraints, delusions, etc it became clear it wasn't easy for her to play out and, frankly, pretty depressing she'd lose her entire mind over Sonny. I think Genie/Tony leaving for extended periods of time just threw off the momentum for Lesley's return. I honestly don't think the time frame is that far apart from Lesley/Laura leaving to Sarah's arrival. It just doesn't feel like Lucky is doing anything terribly substantial.

So according to Lucky's bio from the internet Timoria was an elaborate computer game made by Stefan that eventually led to presumed dead Lesley's whereabouts and everyone finding out she was alive. Again, it's the internet and the wiki article immediately jumps to Lucky/Liz's romance as the next thing that happens to Lucky so I could be missing some pieces here lol. Like @Kane mentioned, a lot of the Cassadine/Spencer stories blur together for me as well.

DAYS: RIP Wayne Northrop
Obviously, not making this tragedy all about Days but when you think about how Wayne as Roman completely changed Days entire canvas it's really insane. I think we mostly remember how he was wasted in the 90's and the subsequent recast. He was the first Brady cast and they built an entire family around him plus he had the weight of being paired with the show's leading lady. The current show would be almost completely unrecognizable if Wayne failed as Roman. His tenure may have been shorter than most but he left an incredible mark on the show. RIP!

Yeah, I can see it not being worthy of his time. None of those 'vet' returns were very good even though it was nice to see some of them eventually be weaved into the canvas. I know Ingo got DWTS and had to cut his run short, but I will never understand the logic of Ron having Jax/Brenda engaged only to break up a day later and that's the end. Just cut Jax entirely.

I would like to think SN read the story outline and just said no, but he works on Days so I doubt he cares much about story. There were certain parts of the Lulu story that worked for me that were mostly character moments. I can never be on board with a story that ended saddling us with Charlotte though.

I think the ship had long sailed on Bobbie/Stefan by then. It was hardly ever even referenced once they broke up and even if Ron used Bobbie more I doubt they'd invest in a new romance for her. It's a shame they couldn't make something work with Nichols for the 50th though. The Cassadine story was pretty ridiculous at the time to be fair. Do you remember if they wanted Stefan to take Stavros's place in the story or just be part of the action? Also, I can never remember when SN is on Days or when he gets fired. I am going to assume he wasn't on Days at the time?

Miguel and Brenda had some explicit sex scenes. I recall one in the Kelly's shower. It didn't help the cause lol. I always wondered if Jerry/Bobbie were that sexual because they were trying to make Bobbie seem younger and hotter to appeal to Jerry. I am assuming Jerry was supposed to be younger than Bobbie? Given all the talk about Jerry, the dashing, womanizing cad I can understand why they went in that direction. They also spent a lot of time with Jax/Brenda so I see it as an attempt to make Bobbie/Jerry appear closer to being their contemporaries. That being said, I liked the pairing. It was charming enough. The Lucky/hospital shut down plot rings a bell to me now that you mention it. I can understand liking the Brenda dead mom plot because there were literally no obstacles for Jax/Brenda at the time or a believable way to write Brenda off. It should have been started earlier. That's what I was trying to convey in my previous posts. Brenda/Jax circle around each other for months playing a will they or won't they game and then all of a sudden everything happens in the last 2 or 3 months Vanessa is there still. You are correct. @DRW50The breakdown story was to pitched her and Vanessa loved it so much she stayed that extra year. Vanessa then realized it was too difficult for her to play and didn't like the story. To be fair, it's very clear she was out of her league in those breakdown scenes. I also think Vanessa was smart enough to know it wasn't popular. That's why I think they tack on the stuff about her losing her money and bring Robin/Julia back. The resolution is a little weak as Brenda basically just gets better with the help of her family and friends and not doctors, but we got those two characters back instead. I know what scene you are talking about. I think it's actually Katherine's party and Katherine's birthday. I have no idea why it was at the Q's house anymore. I always got the sense she was a little sad, but more mad her birthday was ruined lol. I'll have to re-watch. I know I have Brenda's death pretty easily accesible.

I agree the pairing was best left not happening. I think the hype and the Bickerson's routine might have been hard to sustain long term. I have a difficult time believing they would do that to Sonny or Robin as well just on principle. I agree Jason/Brenda's only chance to work was in 2002. Following the story Sam inherited with Sonny's baby could have worked if the show framed it more as Sonny/Brenda being the endgame and Jason/Brenda as more of a surprise romance. I don't believe Guza would ever kill off a Sonny/Brenda baby, so I would have brought Carly back into Jason's romantic orbit as the marriages fell apart and basically just swapped the two couples. Courtney could have moved to Antarctica for all I care. I have no idea where Jax would fit into the story. He thought he was Sam's baby daddy, right? You could have plopped him in being annoying and tampering with DNA tests through it all I suppose.

It was a bad business manager that stole her money. It wasn't really delved into, but that's why she needed to get a job ASAP and worked for Genie motors and was desperate for any modeling jobs. I think the show had an idea with Jason/Brenda even then. I don't believe Guza was back yet for these scenes, but in Brenda's breakdown chaos she actually kissed Jason saying something like you have Sonny's life now you can have his girl. Then all the plane crash events which did feel like it was leading somewhere. I definitely think it was an option they were toying with all along. There are just quite a few nuances played in that time, but you wouldn't do that with the easy popularity of Brenda/Jax and Robin/Jason. It would have upended the show like you said. Maybe if you took the Carly/Michael of it all out of it something could have happened. There was just way too much being thrown at Jason at the time. I know Guza was practically proclaimed a genius for throwing Brenda/Jason together in 2002 and it really worked. If you look at the show in general Jason/Brenda have been teased on and off since Steve and Vanessa first started the show though.

Oh, I liked a lot of the Brenda/Jax stuff from 1998. It's some of their best work as a couple. It just felt like it took almost 9 months to get there and by then we knew Vanessa was out anyways. You had to sit through Brenda's breakdown, her losing all her money, losing her job and having no prospects, her trying to woo Jax back, etc for too long. I really wouldn't have minded a Brenda/Jax endgame. I am over it now too though. Obviously, Sonny is the only person left for Brenda in town and most days I am even iffy on that. The positives are Julia's return and them reconnecting, Robin's return for them to be roomies in the cute cottage, and the beginnings of a Jason/Brenda spark. Everything else was a bit of wasted time. I don't know why on Earth they cast Leslie Horan. She's obviously a very beautiful woman, but she is unable to convey emotion at all. I had to giggle when she said I won't cry in this episode. Girl, you can't cry on cue don't even try to fake us out. And she didn't have any chemistry with Ingo. She had more chemistry with Maurice which maybe a Sonny/Miranda pairing could have been an idea, but then there's all the weird Mac backstory at the same time. **ETA-I didn't even mention the back from the dead crazy mom for Brenda-which was also the worst.**

Her eyes were the same. That's how Jax recognized her🙄. They end up showing crappy flashbacks of them on the beach riding a white horse with her current face so that thread may have been dropped. I think Guza's endgame was to pair Jax/Miranda. I really think Miranda was supposed to be one of the next leading ladies. Guza was already halfway out the door so probably made the outline before realizing how popular Sonny/Brenda/Jax would end up being. I am pretty sure everyone knew Vanessa and Mo were dipping when their contracts were up. Obviously, Vanessa stayed that useless extra year though. 1997 was just rough. Thank goodness for Sarah Brown and Carly.

It appears he's pretty obsessed with it and Emily looks sad he won't eat lunch with her. I remember Luke thinking the whole thing was very important, but I can't recall the conclusion or if there was one. Also, Jax/Miranda are the most overwrought non-couple in the universe. "How many times did you wake up from an operation without me by your side, Miranda?" Seriously, shut up. Both of you.

Brenda just hanging out in the most poofiest of all her wedding dresses at home is kind of funny. And Sonny showing up like she'd be happy to see him after he publicly blew up her wedding is the kind of silly swagger and confidence I like from him. Those crazy kids. You always just wish Miranda/Leslie Horan could make a facial expression that didn't imply boredom and she never did. I can't even remember how this Lucky/video game stuff ends. A coveted Fabergé egg? I can't remember why that's important. I always thought Lucky would end up doing something on the tech side because he was so good with computers. Like a less spastic and annoying Spinelli They were fire. I have swear I have posted about how this pairing's ending annoys me to this day a million times.

Yeah, the episode structure really surprised me. I obviously have seen the edits and the episode before, but it's very interesting Stone dies and then we get to see the moving parts of the aftermath in the same show. Sonny's reaction to Stone hits. When he asks is he sleeping? Is he dead? He's dead. Okay. It's so blunt, but so moving. I should mention I loved Felicia's speech to Robin telling her she loved Stone well. It was a great piece of dialogue between Robin/Felicia and made me forgive Felicia's early interactions with stupid Tom. I always have troubling placing where Jenny is. I recall Paul mentioning her, but never saying where she was. I have no doubt Julia and Jenny were meant to come back. I remember Sonny calling Brenda to get ahold of Julia at some point, but I don't remember Ned calling anyone although it would make sense if he did. I get why the story fell apart, but there really was no follow up if anyone actually talked to Julia or Jenny lol. Personally, I always thought she'd fit better in the younger crowd with AJ, Jason, Brenda, etc. Although that group pretty quickly merged into the Lois/Ned group so possibly? I just can't really see it. Anyone probably would have been better than Katherine though lol.
