Listen, I can sort of cook, but sometimes I make food I think is delicious, but the palates of the world might not be ready for. 😂 Marlena might just be cooking up some grilled cheese. They get free rent. They can find their own food especially now that Marlena has another mouth to potentially feed with Sophia's spawn.

I don't think that's changed. John or Brady joked about it fairly recently (as in this year). I think Kristen even told Rachel not to eat anything Marlena made not that long ago lol. So either it was a script error or Marlena is just making herself bad food. Who knows though? With the horde of people living in Marlena's house perhaps she learned how to cook to save money or something?

ALL: Couple vs SUPER Couple?
Wow! Sonny/Brenda are pretty high on that SOD list. SOD is obviously correct on that lol. That list is odd though. Obvious bias aside, I would generally consider Sonny/Brenda the last supercouple and they were on the very tail end of that trend. I think you can make a decent argument for Robin/Patrick, but Robin had more memorable pairings. I just don't think soaps are built for supercouple pairings anymore. Romance still happens on soaps, but it's no longer the hard fought super couple journey. Couples say they are in love in a few months, get married, have a kid and divorce. Look no further than Carly/Sonny being ranked so high. They just get points for longevity and the fact they get paired when the writers have nothing else to do with them.

Wow, how bittersweet was Tracy's conversation with Stella about Monica? It couldn't have been timed better. I really don't have much of a problem with Nina/Sonny brokering a deal. Realistically, Michael is looking at months or years of intensive rehab and care. Who would raise those kids? Nannies? Carly? Willow is the most viable option and I don't even think her having proxy over Michael's care is that bad. She is a nurse. I don't think she would choose a poor medical option for the father of her children. Drew inserted himself into everything is a the annoyance I have. I don't even know why Cody was in this episode lol.

DAYS: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Yeah. I am not saying this was @j swift's point, but Drake dying at a time when other prominent soap actors also did was obviously something out of his control. I can't imagine him not getting a huge tribute just because some other legendary cast members died before him and it might change the tone of the show. The show is going to be changed without John. There isn't a question. Drake/John leave a huge hole on the canvas. Outside of the audience feeling the loss there are many cast members that do as well. Looking at how many returns there are planned it seems important for those people who truly knew him as well. Anyway, this is a tangent from my first point and that is the fact I don't love this current John story and it's very depressing. I don't find celebrating John's life and giving him the hero send off he deserves depressing.

I suppose there is an argument on who gets a special episode or not in the future, but how can you not give a huge memorial to Doug, Victor, or John? How do you memorialize an actor that played a character for decades and continue that character's story? The only place I agree with you on is the protracted storyline that lingers, but with the taping schedule that remains the way it is. I wish Days could figure a way around it. And while I get it might be exhausting to you that people die, I am pretty sure most of the audience wants to see closure for a character that lead the show for almost 40 years.

Yeah, the assignment/mission part doesn't bother me. It just would be nice to know either John could get home sometimes or his family was able to visit him. We don't have to actually see it. That's fair and I don't think non-essential people would or should know. I think Ron would be an essential person who would have known just to figure out the parameters and timing of Drake's absences. But I don't have any insider info either. I would have to wholeheartedly disagree. The losses recently have been depressing. There is just no way I would continue to watch a show that let John just linger off screen. I hated when they did that with Stefano. John was one of the greatest heroes on Days of our lives. Marlena/John were a leading supercouple for years. Just because the soap world is experiencing multiple, sad losses doesn't mean Drake/John don't deserve a tribute. And honestly, one of their leads passed away. The tone of the show is going to be sad unless Ron just decides to 'treat' us to 5 days a week of Leo and Body & Soul

I agree with this. Some of the dialogue is very foreshadowing and it feels...Idk, crass or insensitive? Like you said this diagnosis is generally terminal and I do appreciate Days for hoping things would work out for Drake. It's just sad Marlena and his family will be missing him for months and then John will die without saying goodbye or having a few more good moments. I would be okay with Marlena and his family seeing him off screen. I feel like even with Doug and Victor being in a different room or on a trip there was at least the implication they were around and having moments with their loved ones.

This John story is difficult to get through even as a huge John fan. I know it's inevitable with the taping schedule, but I just want it to end. I want a great celebration of John's life as soon as possible-not months of Marlena/Steve/everyone wondering where he is. I understand the show was in a hard place with the entire situation, but, man it's depressing watching knowing how it ends.

I don't remember them being together either, but apparently they were married (later annulled) in 2015. It was Stafford's Nina and Ric wanted her fortune. At least that's what the internet tells me. It does sound vaguely familiar to me. I am notorious for mixing up almost all of Nina's backstory though. Obviously, bringing back Brenda would be the better solution. I am just resigned to it not happening. Nina seems like the only real option currently on the show for Sonny and that's still a reach for me.

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
As much as this pains me to say, I think Nina's future on the show might hinge on Sonny. I wouldn't mind if Nina had a breakdown and was shipped off for awhile. I just don't know how long this little Eva La Rue experiment will last. Natalia doesn't have a fanbase and Sonny needs a love interest. While they have completely dropped Nina/Sonny at this point she's more likely to repaired with Sonny than Carly, IMO.

I felt it was a really weak attempt not to go and she wanted Drew to convince her otherwise. This story really had the potential to be so good with the addition of Nina. It just hasn't been executed well. The build up to Willow/Drew wasn't good enough, the reveal of the affair was mistimed, making it a love match was a silly choice too. Drew should be still seeing Nina on the side. Willow should lose everything and find out Drew was just two timing and deceiving her. Now, I am sure the Nina/Drew reveal will be okay, but it could have been so much better. Obviously losing Chad isn't ideal either so I have a feeling this story will kind of just fizzle out and not have a great conclusion. I think KM is mostly adequate. I agree I don't know if she has the range. She really hasn't been given the material to try though. I honestly have no problem with the show ditching Willow all together. There isn't much tying her to the canvas anymore.

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Oh, I am sure you are right. I just really thought Willow wasn't stupid enough to leave her young son alone in a hotel room for half the night. I was wondering the same about everyone thinking they hooked up in DC. I guess everyone just assumed that's what happened and Willow/Drew didn't really deny it. If you didn't plan to continue the affair Willow would have canceled the trip to try to save her marriage or at least play it cool for a custody case. Honestly, if Wiley really had to go I am sure Willow could have arranged for Nina to take him and possibly actually got Michael's permission. It's unlikely Michael would have said yes. It just would have been the best way to go about it. Willow's intentions were clear once she decided she had to attend. I am just counting down the days until she finds out about Nina/Drew, has no lover, no friends, no husband, and no kids. I hope Willow turns evil.

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Good question. I have a tendency to fill in gaps on small things in my own head when watching GH or Days so I just assumed someone was watching Wiley. I suppose there could have been adjoining rooms. I think I am giving Willow/Drew way too much credit. They did have sex in a playroom with a nanny cam so they really don't care about anyone else. Everyone keeps harping on Willow bringing Wiley over state lines, but no character has really asked where Scout or Wiley were while Willow/Drew were hooking up.

Good way to describe her. She's likeable, mostly nice, and is just the kind of supporting character you need. Sasha is never going to be a breakout star, but she's pleasant enough. The character has also gone through an insane amount of tragedy year after year so you do just kind of root for her happiness.

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
To be honest, my endorsement of Sasha was more "she's better than Willow" than an actual like of the character. I just thought she had more potential. I was ready to write her off when she became the Q cook, but it seems like she has a bit more story now. And, no, I don't agree with the Robert/Holly kid nonsense still. Glad to hear your apartment is still safe. I haven't lived in LA for awhile now, but it sounds absolutely terrible.

Maybe with a friend, acquaintance, family, etc. Not with the sister of the guy she cheated on that's very seriously injured right now. That's not even realistic in a real life situation. Maybe down the line Joss may have some sympathy and understand (doubtful), but I think everything is too fresh for Willow to find an ally today. Willow should probably understand the emotions of Joss's boyfriend just being killed and her brother being near death-not trying to excuse the need to "follow her heart".

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Yes! The way Willow said it was worse than Joss's response. Willow seemed delusional, not like she was striking a low blow to Joss. It was more like we are the same, right? If Willow had some bite defending her actions it's would be better. She's just so teary and sad wondering how it all got to this point.

I agree that Caterina story was a horrible re-write. I don't mind they are tying it up just to make it clear John did nothing wrong. I do blame Ron for A LOT, but I assume he was buying time hoping Drake's health would improve and wanted to wait to make any decisions on new story for John. Considering the private nature of his illness, I am willing to cut the show some slack as we really don't know how long Drake was dealing with this and how the show had to write around it. It's very difficult to watch without John/Drake, but I assume we are moving into the final arc for John soon.😭 From what I read Drake was aware they were going to kill John off before he passed and agreed to it.

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Honestly, it's karma for cheating with Sasha first too lol. I think if the dialogue was a bit better and Joss acted remorseful about her cheating on Cameron and expressed desire to not repeat that mistake again it would have helped. I'll also give Joss a slight pass because her boyfriend literally just died. 😂 Like I said, if Joss admitted it was a huge mistake to cheat on Cameron and she learned from it that would have made it slightly better. She was out there sort of defending her cheating as opposed to Willow's. Willow's audacity just beat Joss's smugness yesterday. She really thought Joss would be sympathetic to her? Willow comes waltzing into the hospital expecting people to understand or side with her when Michael's near death? She was out of town with her boyfriend!!! Willow is delusional if she thinks anyone in Michael's family is going to be nice to her. She's met his family, right? Anyway, even if those harsh words were delivered by the wrong person it was well deserved.

I don't mind Doug 3 in theory and am liking him so far. I think his introduction was very clunky. The way they explained Robert, Dougie, Doug III was just confusing. Like @Khan replied the show covered most of the bases, but it wasn't terribly clear. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Days history and I still had to check some sites to get more details. I think it may have been easier if Hope/Julie/Doug had some contact with Dougie throughout the years to at least bridge the gap for viewers and make it easier to believe Julie would take his son in so readily. And honestly it's just very confusing to hear Doug/Dougie/Doug III all in the same episode.
