  1. Honestly, we didn't need Thomas or Sister Mary Moira at all. It was just an Eileen Davidson vanity thing to have the scenes with her husband and have her play her wacky characters. I don't hate on ED for getting paid for that nonsense, but the time spent on that could have easily been filled with more interesting characters (ie Andrew/Paul flirting lol)
  2. I agree with @AbcNbc247. The whole thing was okay-not as good as Season 1. I think they tried to fit too many characters in this with a much more complex plot with the prisms. Some thoughts: Steve was less Jason-y today and did a good job. He obviously could have been brainwashed and could easily be brought over to the main show or another sequel. This was a huge waste of Eileen Davidson's time. There was literally no point in her appearing. I love Wendy Shin and like nuStephanie. NuJoey is okay. I think I prefer Tripp though. For some reason Deidre Hall played Marlena's worry over John as boredom over the whole situation and it made me giggle. I don't think that's what she was going for, but she couldn't seem more disinterested in the entire thing.🤣 Not a huge fan of the cliffhanger mostly because it was so obvious. Andrew and Paul are adorable. CS is so awesome. I need him back on the main show. Gabi/Shin were likeable on this as well. Overall, I think the idea was good and I liked the focus on Bo/Hope. I just think they jammed too many characters and ideas into it. Like others said the Bo/Hope stuff could have filled 5 episodes, but I understand wanting to use Marlena, John, Steve, Kayla etc. I will definitely watch a 3rd season if they make one.
  3. TB's work as Ava on Days. Her work as Kim might be worse than Ava, but GH never played any of the appropriate beats with her.
  4. Have you seen Hope's boobs? She can keep it from falling down. She probably just rested it above her bra lol By Deidre's reaction I took it as a sex joke, but I could be wrong. It just seems like something those two would say to let us know they are still sexy in their 70's. But now I feel like I am one of those John/Marlena shippers that think that sort of thing is cute and I DON'T lol. As far as Megan-I feel like in one of those scenes they said 24 hours earlier to let us know it was not real time. Marlena and Kayla have John's superspeed private jet. If he still owns that......
  5. When John was tying Marlena up and said you should be used to it and she rolled her eyes was that a kinky sex joke? Because....it probably was.🙄 The prisms look like cheap pieces of plastic. And Hope just had it in her cleavage very awkwardly. I am going to get married with this big piece of plastic by my boobs (insert fake boob joke here). Like, Hope, freakin hide that sh*t you dummy!
  6. I would absolutely rank TB second to SJB. In fact, I liked her more than SJB, but I can recognize the greatness of SJB's Carly. I think TB was perfect for Carly in that moment. Good romantic chemistry with MB, slightly less volatile, great at emotional scenes, an ease with her most important co stars, etc. Could I see her playing Carly now? Not really. Honestly her work as Ava is so boring I don't even know why I loved her so much.
  7. Hey, I like Steve Burton more than most here, but he's playing Jason with his stoic demeanor and cold line delivery. Think of how Steve played Jason Q compared to Jason Morgan. There was an earnestness and likability to him. Even early Jason Morgan had that. The only difference here is that SBu is playing the bad guy not the hero.
  8. How did Marlena get to Hong Kong so quickly lol. I wish they made the prisms look cooler than plastic square blocks though lol. I also wish Steve Burton played something other than Jason with this. The Bo/Hope scenes were nice. BS2 isn't great, but it's watchable and I am enjoying it.
  9. Yes, Tamara had a much more fragile quality to her Carly, but still could be tough. LW's Carly is definitely tougher and more aggressive and intimidating and I don't mean that in a bad way.
  10. You always make good points. I think it's also how you perceive the character of Carly and how she would or could evolve. I think we do view her quite differently as I did enjoy TB very much. Anyhow, LW is the least of the show's problems and I will agree Carly has become a Sonny prop so a lot of her most unique characteristics have disappeared to make her and Sonny work over the years. Even if LW thought GL would last forever I don't see any daytime actress turning down Carly on GH. It's a guaranteed lead on a much better soap that had a budget at the time. Sure, LW was a lead on GL, but there is a lot more buzz, publicity, and emmy clout with GH. LW strikes me as a very smart woman. It would have been silly to turn Carly down.
  11. I feel like GH was in a space with Carly where they could have written her off temporarily when TB left and didn't. GH could have spent time looking for a good recast. Most of the things JB's Carly did were of little consequence in the long run including her marriage to Alcazar. For some reason I thought talks with LW began before her contract ended at GL and she left when it was up knowing the GH job was her. I think she had objections to the story (was it Josh/Cassie?), but I think LW is savvy enough to know she was on a sinking ship regardless. Lol! We probably have been over this before, but I hardly remember what I wrote yesterday 🤣. I do believe LW's Carly can hold a grudge like no other. The fact she gleefully wanted to ruin Brenda, Dante, Lulu so she showed up fully dressed as a guest at S&B's wedding just to set the whole thing on fire publicly is epic. LW has her good moments, but this place Carly is in now is something I could never imagine SJB playing. I could never imagine her with marrying Jax or flirting with Drew, but that's how Carly is written. If SJB had been playing Carly the entire time I don't think a lot of things would have played out the way they have. Carly has become tailored to LW's strengths-which is fine. I would love SJB back, but I almost couldn't even imagine her in the role now. I know it's been 20 plus years, but the role has deviated so far from what it was it's hard to picture, IMO.
  12. I think JB was set up to fail. She was given ridiculously difficult and unlikeable material. Perhaps JFP's power play made Guza write Carly so horribly. She never had a chance with those storylines. Do I think she was the right person for Carly? Probably not. I think JB was clearly a placeholder until LW was done at GL and I do think JB could act as well. Lead a show? No, but I would be perfectly fine with a show without Carly as our female lead lol. I just wonder what JB could have done with slightly more likeable material. As far as Laura, you are right. Her previous characters are Carly adjacent, but don't really feel like Carly to me if that makes sense. There is a cunning, slick manipulativeness Carly had under SJB that LW doesn't have. LW has read pretty soccer mom since her GL run. An entertaining and funny soccer mom, but she lacks something TB and SJB had (besides romantic chemistry with Mo lol).
  13. It's amazing almost 10 years later GH is still on the air. I was sure it was a goner, but Frank and Ron did some great work early in their run. Too bad they couldn't keep the momentum going. The Kate/Connie DID story is still one of the worst stories I have seen though. Just thinking about Kelly Sullivan reliving/reenacting Connie's rape makes me cringe lol. I generally think Guza had a much better feel for GH than anyone who's come after him. It was much more an issue of him having too much power and I think bungling something as high profile as James Franco and Vanessa Marcil's return was just enough for the Guza firing to be justified. I don't know if I would say I miss him now, but I do think he was much better at doing events and making the show exciting. GH has been so dull and anticlimactic for years now. Back to Reese, KW was only on 9 months! I swear she was on much longer or at least it felt that way lol. They fired her after 7 months so GH cut their losses pretty quick. I have always thought KW and Jennifer Bransford looked very similar, especially in that time period. Similar hair, build, mannerisms, etc. It might just be me, but I always wondered if that played into things with Reese and the Carly recast as I don't think JB was as bad as she was made out to be. JB had some difficult material to play. I don't think she was exactly right for Carly, but I don't think she was the flop she's viewed as today. I know the legend is they always wanted Laura Wright, but, objectively, nothing about LW's previous work really screams Carly to me either. That's probably why LW just made Carly into her own version of Carly though lol.
  14. KW was just a bad choice that didn't fit the role at all. Maybe if she had chemistry with MB it would have made it better, but this was also at the nadir of Sonny's Brendabots. Even if I don't feel like Reese falls into that category specifically she tends to get boxed in that way in retrospect. I HATED KW on 90210 and think she was awful there as well, but I do think there were roles she could play on GH-this just wasn't it. I don't think the Carly backstory was a bad idea. Neither was introducing Carly's father. But the writing was so bad the good idea was just so wasted. And then it was written and put in the universe and the writers never went back to it. I do think GH did make a good resurgence after that with Robin/Patrick all the way through Dante's story, but it hit a wall when Brenda returned. As much as it pains me to say this, the show made the ultimate fail by not making that work and I see why major changes were made. It was a 'no brainer' Guza managed to bungle, but that has nothing to do with Reese so I digress..
  15. It's weird that a lot of important things happened under JB's brief run. The Reese story had potential, but the whole thing sort of didn't work and fell into the trap of repetitive women that we pair with Sonny when Brenda/Carly aren't available. The whole thing felt unfinished. The lack of chemistry KW had with MB and the backstage issues just made it a fail. The Carly twist felt tacked on and it was basically Sonny/Hannah without it. There should have been so much more done with the Carly/Reese backstory setting up years of storyline but it all just went away after about 6 months.
  16. I think the inference was that Gabi was getting ready for the Gala before she and Shin had sex. It looked like something someone would get ready in before putting their full dress and makeup on even though it was lingerie. Like brides wear before their wedding. So it was night, but not time for sleeping. Just sex lol. The only thing I ever remembered about Megan was her amazing permed hair. I can say I was disappointed when she showed up with a much more sensible do the other day.🤣
  17. I think you could do an entire full season from the characters. Even if it was weekly, you could probably pull 16 episodes from this. I know 4 months is a long time to take away from the main show, but if they blocked it out better Steve/Kayla could be in the first few episodes, then John/Marlena, then Gabi/Shin and pretty much everyone else is off the main show, so they could fill in the gaps and everyone meets for the climax. All regular Days would have to do is throw a few scenes in explaining some of the intrigue and call it a day. Again, I think most of the ideas are decent-it's just way too busy like you said.
  18. I think there is a difference between fast paced and missing large beats. Paul and Andrew were in about 2 scenes. Ditto with Wendy, Tripp, and Joey. It's clear so far they are trying to push a lot of characters in and don't have the time to build anything substantial although I like the idea of both pairings/groupings. It's been fine so far. I just think Beyond Salem might have too many characters to juggle right now. Also, was Hope just wearing that prism in her cleavage in full view? That looked really weird lol.
  19. I think it's fine too. I liked the first one better and thought it was more creative, but there are 2 episodes left, so I reserve judgement until then. The Heaven stuff is cringey. I have to agree with whoever said this would work as a 2 week event better. There are good things happening and interesting characters, but it's all squeezed into such a short period it's hard to connect with everything.
  20. No not the actors. I mean, I have seen pictures of The Reeves and SBu together, but I thought I have seen Jen and Harris together in SBu articles about his career or in reference to how Missy met Steve. I have the coffee table books at my house. I guess I could look at those.
  21. The only info I can find out about Harris is he dated Eve because she was a prostitute then fell for her, but it was too late. Eve had found out. For some reason, I feel like I have seen pictures of Harris and Jen together in magazines though. 30 would be 1992-40 would be 82. It's somewhere in the middle probably and with everyone's kids being aged it seems fine to me.
  22. I am pretty sure JT said 40 years lol. Question for anyone: Wouldn't John know Harris Michaels from his time in Salem or did they not cross paths at all? And wouldn't John be more aware of the 3 prisms than he is? Roman was a big part of it and I would assume he had some memories from Roman about that.
  23. I thought the opening scene with Steve Burton on a rubber boat on a soundstage and Heaven with the lighting and effects were cringey although I agree with @AbcNbc247that Steve Burton still looks good. It would be nice if he could play something other than a version of Jason though. I know SBu used to be able to act. John Black living it up at a Pride Party is something I never would see in my lifetime, but Drake was great lol. John and Paul are adorable. Paul is far and away the best John kid. The new Stephanie does favor Shelley Hennig a lot. I like her so far. I never had much of a thought about Joey, so the new one seems fine as well. I actually do thing Ciara has a ton of right to call out Hope, but I agree it came out of nowhere. Ciara never seemed upset on the main show about it. The fact that Hope would rather ignore her children and life to avoid getting back together with Rafe is hilarious to me even if it's not the real reason. Poor Bo in Heaven. Has he just had to watch everyone he loves make poor decisions all these years lol? The actress that plays Megan Hathaway still looks really good. I like it so far. I am curious to see how all the pieces and characters come together, but it was a good start. It felt a little more disjointed than the first Beyond Salem, but we'll see.
  24. So not to be mean, but isn't Marlena a little old to be an infants godmother? I know Marlena is ageless, but isn't the whole point of a Godparent to take care of the child if something happens to Ben/Ciara both? Or is that an antiquated notion? I am sure Rafe would do it (or Hope obviously), but I would think Shawn and Belle would be the much more obvious choice. I know I am overthinking it because it's just a title more than anything else on a soap, but it's not very realistic. Anyhow, bye Ciara/Ben (until Monday on Peacock :/)! Hope your boat doesn't capsize because Marlena's too old to raise baby Bo! @TonksadoraAre you asking if Chloe/Belle have a history or a history of being slutty? Yes to both. They have been friends since high school. Chloe's entire time on the show lol. Belle has a long history with cheating on Shawn and Chloe, well, she was written quite badly for awhile and was a prostitute. And Chloe has a significantly younger sister Joy that Craig/Nancy had when Chloe was battling cancer. Joy would easily work in the Johnny/Tripp/Allie/Chanel age range. As far as Mike goes-we have no idea what he knows. But we do know it took him and Jen MONTHS to figure out Laura's estate in Boston, so you would assume he knows the details of his mother's death since he was involved with the will and what not.
  25. He killed Jordan and Ben was framed for that, so I guess that's why that happened. I don't know anything about RSW. I don't know if he cares or not honestly. I don't even know if he considers himself a serious actor because I don't lol.
