  1. I know there were plans to just have TB finish Carly's story when she took over and she was only meant to be temporary so there were thoughts of ditching Carly-at least for a time. I am sure they may have rested the character and asked Sarah back in a few years if that were the case. I guess I could see Carly lasting, but maybe not being as prominent. More B story like Alexis or Liz. I thought BW was okay, but preferred SK as well. Physically BW was so off as AJ. I agree Sonny/Carly's relationship and it's toxicity destroyed the show and both characters. It would have been interesting to see Jason/Carly/AJ interact separate from Sonny and give Jason/Carly a story outside that sphere. It's hard to imagine.
  2. Lol! I don't even mind Lily that much, but in my youth I felt like her getting blown up was like Christmas/My Birthday rolled into one. It's sad she died, but she's been made out to be the saintly saint ever since her death and it's completely swept under the rug she manipulated herself into marrying Sonny and he didn't even love her-even when she died. Do you think if Carly would have stayed with AJ she would have lasted? I have my doubts. Half the reason she lasted is because she was so heavily featured with Sonny/Jason everyday of our lives. I agree her life trajectory would be similar, but with the Q's and Bobbie/Tony being minimalized I don't see her lasting past the early to mid 2000's.
  3. Yeah, I remember hearing the exact same thing, so it was pretty widely known. Obviously, Guza had many flaws, but if someone stronger was allowed to reign him in and control his worst urges I think Guza would have been much more successful in his later years on GH. I have always thought Guza was a decent writer that just fixated on certain characters, loved the mob and violence way too much, and had the tendency to repeat stories over and over. He knew how to do an exciting arc and just needed an EP to tell him to stop using Jason/Carly/Sonny in every story and episode. Speaking of good Guza-my favorite soap opera episode ever!!!😍 I could watch Lily blow up all day! Re-watching the anvils of Lily dying are pretty obvious, but I have never been more surprised and happy than I was on that day watching GH.
  4. I have definitely heard people pronounce mature as "matour". It's not that common, but I have heard it several times. I thought it might be a regional thing, but she was born in Chicago and raised in California (as was I) and that's not a common pronunciation in either of those areas. Maybe MS thinks it makes her sound sophisticated? Like when people pronounce vase "vozz" lol.
  5. Yeah, it doesn't seem like Jamie's into most of the time, but then him and Julie are hanging out and being weird. It might be due to drinking on his part. With Julie's husband reacting that severely to a playlist leads me to believe her talking about Jamie 24/7 to him was edited a bit. I assumed she talked about him quite a bit, but also spoke about the other roommates and MTV just edited that out. As far as Kelley-she was one of my faves in the OG season. She may be over it, but she doesn't partake in a lot of the activities and she might as well go home. It seems like she is almost too into her image and how she's being seen to act real.
  6. I did crack up at Matt telling Julie they never would have had a relationship and shutting her down. The Julie/Jamie stuff is so cringey and awkward I wondered if the show edited it to make it seem worse. Not defending Julie, but I couldn't believe how much she was talking about Jamie to her husband and then her husband got furious over a spotify playlist? I honestly am not understanding this situation at all. I mean, Jamie is a good looking guy.............but he's not exactly the hottie he was in 2000 lol. I am sure Kelly is a lovely person and someone who is delightful to spend time with in real life, but she is such a downer on the show and I think she is bringing even less than Matt. Everything makes her uncomfortable and she has one foot out the door. It looks like she may be getting more focus soon, but at this point she's a snooze.
  7. Something not health related- I believe Julianne Morris Christian beliefs (and Austin Peck's then beliefs) made Greta an eternal virgin and lead us to the Garden of Eden story on Days.
  8. Man, I want to be on Shawn's side, but he continues to act like an idiot. Tripp/Chanel/Allie/Johnny was good.
  9. I think the one thing Jax had going for him is he was generally liked by the audience. He was a good guy that could be Sonny's mortal enemy with solid reasons. I think there was an effort to make Jax/Ingo a leading man after Brenda's death, but unfortunately he has trouble standing out without a strong leading lady. He was always a good contrast to Sonny. I would agree that most of his stories were unmemorable, but he was popular enough to keep around. I think (until recently) there were always more problematic characters to get rid of and Jax was able to ride his Brenda/Jax popularity until Carly and then was able to ride that until Ingo made it impossible. That may actually be helping your argument, but I never thought "ugh, why is Jax still here?" if that makes sense. I was always thinking why are they using Jax so poorly instead. The mixed marrieds was a good story and probably the best on Jax got outside Brenda/Carly.
  10. I don't think the show wants us to perceive Nicole as a 'whore.' I would consider her more self-destructive than promiscuous, especially considering the men she chose to sleep with. Xander actively tried to destroy her life and EJ was awful to her as well in the past. These choices suggest to me that she's sabotaging herself not that she's sleeping around town. I would have eliminated the whole Xander tryst and put more effort into her and EJ, but I also think Nicole was a character that was a victim to cast departures (Sami/Eric) and things didn't play out the way they should have. It's a lot of men over a short period, but thinking of the entirety of her run, I don't think she's a whore. I think some things Nicole did early on suggest she will easily use sex as a weapon (Marrying Lucas for money, marrying Victor, randomly sleeping with Roman, etc.), but she was a victim of sexual abuse and has issues. I do think she has grown a lot since then.
  11. Interesting. I am trying to picture her as Miranda. MR feels a little "old" for that, but it's probably because Jen ran through so much story and was married with a child on Days. It would have been nice to have a stronger actress for Miranda and IR/MR would have made a very attractive couple. I could also see MR as the Gina Cates character. Not actually Gina Cates, but fitting in a similar role. Both Sonny/Jason were really into re-cast Gina Cates, so I could see MR playing a down and out character working at Luke's that hooks up with Jason while Robin is away. I don't know if I am explaining that right, but a new character that just fit in with that same group of characters if that makes sense. Yeah the Is Missy returning stuff was Vanessa level for awhile. I remember her and Scott (and maybe her children?) got a SOD talking about her not returning to Days lol and how busy she was as a stay at home mom.
  12. I always thought the two soaps were Y&R and GH. Not sure if that's true, but I could see her fitting well on both and Scott would get to keep an eye on her on Y&R, which I am sure was appealing. Missy was very popular. I am sure most soaps would have considered her a get in 1996.
  13. I assume Jason Brooks wouldn't be back, but stranger things have happened. Corday sued Missy once upon a time. I do think there are a ton of actors that could play Peter though. It would be nice to give Kristen a sibling that doesn't hate her. I don't know who I would pair him with though.
  14. I really was hoping with all the Peter talk he would show up at the end of the episode-not Kristen. He didn't even get a phone voice lol!!! To me it seems like they might be setting something up with this Peter stuff and maybe with the Steven Hawk stuff too. But you know Ron just loves to name historical names just to prove he knows history so who knows? I would be thrilled to see Peter/Jason Brooks again.
  15. Looking at recaps of the era "Bo and Jen hooking up" is literally referring to them bumping into each other in Ireland and teaming up to beat some random bad guy at the time. That was SOD's misleading wording most likely. I don't think any cover with PR and MR is wasted because they were popular at the time. It's just a tagline to sell the magazine. SOD used to do that all the time. Bo/Jen were tested for a bit, but that cover doesn't accurately fit what was happening on the show in October 2000. It wasn't even the lead story. Brady running around like Gay Zorro and Belle almost getting run over by a train was the A story. Long story short, I don't think Days had much to do with it. They probably just agreed to a cover about Missy/Jen's return since Bo is the first 'real' Days character she interacts with besides Abby.
  16. Because it's an awful idea? Lol. IIRC the show teased it, but I don't think there were any serious plans to pair them. I assume if the fan response was good they might have went with Bo/Jen and John/Hope/Gina for a little while, but I remember most fans hated it. Someone else may have a better answer, but I think the media made more of it than what actually showed up on screen between them. I personally think it would have been a disaster considering the show was knee deep in the John/Gina/Hope nonsense with Zach just being born.
  17. California, in most counties including LA county, kept the mask requirement much longer than other states. I understand her concern, but you can go almost anywhere mask free these days. It's unfortunate, but unavoidable. With her vax and boosters she should be fine in a few days if she tests positive and as far as her fiance-I can't speculate. But NLG must know her daughter works in the industry and may have a higher risk of catching covid.
  18. If we are talking all soaps, I would add Christie Clark. She was the main young heroine in the 90's and one (only?) characters to go from child to adult on Days. If she still acted full time I have no doubt she would still be leading story now.
  19. I definitely get they wanted to make Maxie a contrast to Georgie and wanted her 'slutty/sexier', but KS wasn't exactly the choice I would have made lol. She still didn't look less creepy with GV's Lucky. We just didn't watch her grow up as Maxie on screen (just as Belle on Days lol). I do remember KS's Maxie being hated though. I agree RR had limitations, but I think the show could have tailored her stories more to her personality. 2006 was a bad year too IMO. All that Lucky/Liz/Jason/Sam crap. Ugh🙄 But it was better than 2005.
  20. I always thought Robyn Richards as Maxie could have went the long haul. She couldn't play Maxie as Maxie is today, but I think she could have played Maxie into adulthood just fine.
  21. Idk, I get why most of you didn't like it, but the Possession ending, Ciara/Ben getting their stupid kid back, Tripp throwing himself out a window, Jan wanting to name her kid Britney Spears, and GhostBo? Any one of those things would be a highlight in a normal episode lol.
  22. I might be in the minority, but I thought today's show was pretty good. A little weird it was on a Monday and not a Friday though. Not going to spoil since everyone hasn't seen it, but I was entertained. I'd go as far as saying it was one of the better shows in recent memory even with the Devil stuff.
  23. Someone posted the actual article and he's declared dead but as everyone is mourning, he gets some "divine intervention". So take that for what it's worth, but I am going to assume he's not dead dead.
  24. Yeah, that's what I figured especially since they don't use Kayla/Steve's house that often. I don't know why they would have their own set that looks so similar.
  25. I personally thought it was awkward when Eileen as Kristen was seducing John and SH as Kristen was in the same episode on the main show, but at least it wasn't in the middle of a continuing story-just a vision. It's just weird to reconcile as a viewer. Although a lot of things are hard to reconcile as a viewer on days Yup. I am fine with the Beyond Salem stuff, but when both Kristens are airing simultaneously it's very strange.
