  1. I saw that and I have a feeling she is going to retire from tennis. That has been one theory that has been bandied about online. I know one thing for sure, it ain't gonna be about Sugarpova (lol)! I read one comment online where someone called Sharapova "that screaming Muppet" and said that she knew that "that screaming Muppet is just waiting for Serena to retire so that she can come right back out of retirement". I have to admit, part of me thought that comment was kinda of mean, considering the circumstances but the other part of me was laughing too hard to care.
  2. Sharapova is due to make some sort of announcement tomorrow (Monday) and there is all kinds of speculation as to what that will be.
  3. I agree. For that reason alone, Kyrgios needs to stay healthy. God, I'm going to bed, watching the end of that match was like a sedative for me. Maybe I'm just tired.
  4. I was falling asleep trying to watch the Bryans close out that match! Can't believe they let it get to a 5th set!
  5. Yes they did….Hewitt keeps yelling come on…come on…... Oh no, not the duck hand gesture. The Bryans have been vulnerable but at some point they're going to remember that they're the better team, right?
  6. Did the Aussies actually take a set? I switched to a Watson vs. Woz match in Monterrey, Mexico.
  7. I don't know what to make of this pairing with Hewitt and Peers, except Hewitt is still getting broken, I see. The Bryans have been a bit vulnerable lately, but you still need a solid doubles pair if you're going to beat them. I imagine that the Bryans will win in straight sets.
  8. One of the few times I wish I had TC!
  9. Bud Collins is gone
  10. I wasn't looking too closely at Sock but I'll take your word for it. Looks like sometime after I went to sleep (I just couldn't stay up any longer!), Tomic pulled out the 4th set. Even though many of the young guys in Sock's age group look fitter, they could all do with more stamina and endurance and some program to prevent them from getting injured so much and to exemplify this, you need look no further than the Australian Team's young guns. I know Thanasi is still rehabbing from surgery but even before then, he had that awful cramping incident at last year's U.S. Open and Nick seems to get injured and/or ill an awful lot! The Aussie's used to have a rep for being very resilient but this generation seems like it could use a good dose of that. I don't know maybe the calender is more punishing to the body now than it was back then?
  11. Sock did just get a break off Tomic's serve, so we'll see what he does with it. I'm not sure what to say about Sock. He's definitely a good doubles player but I'm not sure about far he can climb in singles. In some smaller U.S. hardcourt tournaments he has done well. He did surprisingly well one year on clay but right now I can't figure out where his prospects are. Maybe it's going to take a few more years to develop and improve his game. The only thing is, with a crop of young American guys coming up and seemingly making strides, does Sock have the luxury to take years to improve his game? You can never give Tomic too much credit. The commentator seems to believe that Tomic is tiring. Aren't the men conditioned to play best of 5 sets?!
  12. I kind of noticed rumbling last year on the US Open between Courier and Gimelstob when John wasn't going to be available to play Davis Cup. IMO I think Courier felt it as Gimelstob not to play on the team. I can't stand Gimelstob and I agree he should not be covering John's matches. Tomic vs Sock should be interesting. I could see the match going either way. BTW…I am surprised John took the match in straight sets. Strangely, I'm not. I remember last year watching Sam and Lleyton play the Murray brothers during Davis Cup and was surprised at how many times Sam double faulted. I think some of it was nerves at that time but it was Sam (and surprisingly not Lleyton) that actually lost many of the points for Australia. I also remember Frances Tiafoe taking down Groth in what was Tiafoe's first professional tournament. For such a strapping guy, Sam gets surprisingly little consistency from his serve. For every ace, it's like 2 DFs. I know Tomic gets made fun of a lot (and deservedly so, most of the time) but he is really playing a mature, focused match so far. He looks every bit the experienced player right now and experience seems to be winning in this tie.
  13. Thankfully, I stream matches so the times I have to listen to Gimelstob are few and far between. Every tennis fan that I know that has the Tennis Channel seems sick of Gimelstob! Maybe Courier believes that Gimelstob should try to do one job well instead of doing 3 or 4 very badly. I could understand Gimelstob rubbing Courier the wrong way and Gimelstob has no business commentating during Isner's matches but it's really the TC's fault for allowing it. Part of me wishes I could have seen Courier freezing out Gimme-stob. As I type this the Aussie crowd are trying to muster a big cheer for Tomic before the next rubber and I'm thinking that they'd better try to show some enthusiasm because at this point, Tomic is all they've got!
  14. Like father like son? Apparently Trump Jr., appeared alongside a White supremacist on a radio show. Trump Jr. claims it was inadvertent. Oh really? http://news.yahoo.com/donald-trump-jr-appears-alongside-white-supremacist-radio-045636607.html
  15. Thanks for letting me know about the start time because I was wondering about that. Lord, a team that has to rely on Bernie Tomic! How did Australia go from the favorites to having few options left?
  16. With dueling Press Conferences, the GOP sh*tshow was really on display today.
  17. Yes, she wrote a very moving essay for the Player's Tribune: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/venus-williams-indian-wells-tennis/
  18. For the U.S., I think Isner, Sock and the Bryans, I haven't checked lately to see who else was going. I wonder if Querrey is also there? With his recent success, he could've been asked to travel and practice with the team to be available. Canada will have neither Raonic nor Nestor, who is one of Canada's best doubles players.
  19. Lleyton Hewitt cannot let go already. He's not Davis Cup captain for 2 minutes before deciding to sub himself in for Kyrgios, who has a viral infection. People are joking that this gives Hewitt another chance to lose yet another 5 set match. Without Nick, I think the American squad's chances to win this tie just rose.
  20. Grigor seems to be drawn to women he clearly cannot handle when all is said and done.
  21. Carson claims that he won't be participating in the next debate as he sees no way forward but has not yet suspended his campaign. He is scheduled to make an announcement on Friday but why wait if you're going to suspend your campaign? 6 NJ newspapers have written editorial articles demanding that Chris Christie resign as Governor of New Jersey. One newspaper that had endorsed him, took back their endorsement and admitted that they were wrong. The cover of today's New York Daily News features a picture of Trump with the Caption "Make America Migrate". http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/complete-guide-fleeing-president-donald-trump-america-article-1.2549397 Ben Stein a lifelong Conservative, who has never voted for a Democrat says he is considering Hillary or Bernie because he believes Trump is sinking the Republican party. https://www.rawstory.com/2016/03/ive-never-voted-for-a-democrat-ben-stein-flips-support-to-hillary-and-bernie-because-of-trump/ What a trainwreck of a political party.
  22. In the potential Hillary Veepstakes another name is being floated around: https://www.yahoo.com/politics/tom-perez-the-dark-horse-vice-presidential-pick-203317556.html
  23. Very interesting to see how viewers felt at that particular time. Boy, I wish there were some clips on You Tube or Daily Motion to illustrate what they were contending in those letters. Another interesting thing is that I sometimes hear people complain about how the Dobsons had diminished the Stewarts, except for all things Betsey by about '83 and the Stewart girls absence is often cited of a prime example of the writers' neglect of the Stewarts. Funny how sentiment can change. I don't pretend to know much about this era though. Question: So what went wrong between Donald and Lisa? In later episodes when Donald used to visit Oakdale, his interactions with Lisa usually appeared to be tense and sometimes stiff encounters. Why?
  24. John Oliver slays again. He got MakeDonaldDrumpfAgain going on social media, big time! Seriously though, why does it take a comedian to point out what media refuses to delve into?
  25. Heck, in honor of the Leap Day Birthday Boy, I'll add one:
