I know absolutely no one in the state of Louisana except a friend of a friend (who is a doctor in New Orleans) whom I am barely in contact with these days (not deliberately) it's just that she's extremely hard to reach. I thought I'd pass this on to anyone who might know someone or any board members themselves who are residents of Louisiana and are registered to vote there.

People's praise of Megyn Kelly (as their praise of Ana Navarro) was definitely misplaced. Kelly sat on all this information until after the election, then tells all. I have no respect for them or those of their ilk.

You're welcome. I figured this might brighten the mood, if only for a few minutes. HRC is definitely a survivor, that's for sure. I'd like to think I could put on a brave face after losing something I worked so hard toward for so long but honestly, I'd probably be under the covers with a big wedge of cake or some chocolate. Her way appears to be much healthier. I think I'm going to read those post mortems on the state of the DNC once I've processed the visceral reaction from this loss but I can only say that it does seem as if the DNC needs to process how they can move beyond this loss and make sure that they can (re) build cohesiveness and that whatever negative feelings have emerged are only temporary and don't follow the organization into the future. The RNC bought themselves some time but they are far from unified, I anticipate that in '17, the same fissures will crop up again and at some point there will be a self-inflicted crisis or breakdown- most likely caused by intra-party fighting. This party is ruled by what it is against, not for, which is simply unsustainable. Plus, simple demographics are not on their side. So we'll see how they all get along- it is very easy for the party in power to lose control of Congress. They've already thrown civility out the window, so I see the different factions (especially the most aggressive ones) within the party going for the jugular when they eventually clash.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated, it truly is! This may be an organization that you would like to read up on-- they do advocacy work, mainly legal for immigrants and their clients are primarily women and girls who are either seeking refuge or other protections, many fleeing violence. Here is the statement from Tahirih Justice Center about Tuesday's elections and just below, there is a donate link. http://support.tahirih.org/site/MessageViewer?current=true&em_id=15989.0

People are burning their New Balance sneakers after the company expressed support for Trump. I admit I haven't yet read this article and one person commented that New Balance merely supported Trump's views on TPP but stresses that the company shouldn't be let off the hook. According the the Wall Street Journal, the Obamas declined to be photographed with the Trumps after the meeting at the White House. Michelle probably told them to kick rocks! @JONNYSBRO I'm surprised people still fail to take into account voter suppression as a legitimate factor. The stripping of the Voting Rights Act had a profound effect on not just the general Election but even the Primaries in the way it allowed mainly Republican headed states to eliminate many polling stations in areas that vote Democratic. If you don't know what the Voting Rights Act is, please look that up and read about it. The thing that really gets me is how every president going back to Nixon has had to show their tax returns and Trump managed never to be held accountable for failing to give a full account of even one single tax return. The fact that there is a court date set for a rape trial? No problem! Suspicians of foreign interference. Who cares?! But by all all means, let's keep focusing on e-mails.

This is why I was telling a friend that it was more about payback for the U.S. having the temerity to elect and re-elect Obama, it was even stronger than their hatred of Hillary. People are now exclaiming that they are taking back their country and POC have already reported incidents of harrassment and intimidation post election. One Muslim woman has already reported that her hijab wearing cousin was assaulted. The most disturbing thing about this is the number of White women who closed their mouths and voted for Trump. They were the 'silent Trump voter' that his campaign alluded to throughout the campaign. What was weird was that earlier yesterday, by noon the news was announced that the HRC campaign had cancelled the fireworks. Everyone was curious what that meant. I am having flashbacks to Election Day 2000 when I was at University and had an evening writing class and had voted earlier that day and the polls were still open for another 3 hours and this wealthy white guy who was in my class, walks in and says "My Dad told me, it's already been decided, Bush won". We were all stunned but somehow I believed him. Later on, I would hope he was wrong but eventually the kid's father turned out to be correct. Of course, we remember that in 2000 and yesterday, both Democratic candidates won the Popular Vote but lost the Electoral College. This felt similar when the news announced that HRC had cancelled the fireworks. With early voting, there was probably a strong sense of how certain states were going to lean and the media, for ratings, kept up the suspense.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Thanks @Limenade from what I saw on her professional website, she has endured some tough personal losses and it seems that overcoming her personal losses, along with the love for her son and the personal/profession choices that sprouted from that, that has given her a very philosophical holistic outlook. I am not where she is in terms of current outlook, I don't know when or if I can get there but I do appreciate where her words are coming from. It sounds that she is struggling with the results as well but still hoping for good things to flow. When I ventured on her FB page (I hadn't looked too deeply) I was struck by the fact that she appears to have kept in touch with Karina Arroyave (Bianca Marquez Walsh), I think she has kept in touch with quite a few of her ATWT colleagues and I think that's nice. In terms of Ashley Crow and Bill Shanks, yes I read somewhere that they divorced a number of years ago, I think sometime in the late 90s?- The Politics Thread
To answer your question, I came across this which seems to be the prevailing sentiment going round on social media. Also keep in mind that Hillary won the Popular Vote.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

Eerie that I thought about the Trump/Nixon comparison yesterday even before the election results. Mike Pence is pretty awful too though. Not to mention that Cabinet. Let me stop myself before I truly get depressed. I wonder if Trump's administration will start outsourcing surveillance to Russians immediately...or?- The Politics Thread

Speaking of Bernie, has he said or tweeted anything since the election results?- The Politics Thread
He sure did according to film critics, he made the case for electing Hillary in TrumpLand, which was released very close to Election time, when he talked about her beginning her career in public service helping children, primarily Black children in the South, working with Marian Wright Edelman. Hardly anyone saw the movie though, because it only opened in a few theaters spontaneously with no promotion.- The Politics Thread
I keep trying to tell people this but they aren't listening. Michelle was very adamant that she did not have the patience for what goes on in politics. Any who saw her roll her eyes at John Boehner at that dinner years ago, should understand this. Liberals need to stop fantasizing and get realistic. The Republicans coalesced around their candidate, though he was a detestable choice (there is a date set for his rape trial next month, we'll see if that gets cancelled) while people allowed the media to obsess about HRC's e-mails. If Hillary is messy, Trump is a rolling garbage fire. In the end, it came to this commonly used saying. "Democrats (need to) fall in love, Republicans fall in line. I really hope Democrats find that next candidate that liberals can fall in love with because clearly this is what it's gonna take to get that support.- The Politics Thread
