This Vox article goes on to name the list of shows that dealt with the issues surrounding politics and class and the irony of The Middle, which wasn't nearly as heralded as the Roseanne reboot yet, according to Vox, tackled these issues even better than Roseanne did in the rebooted version of the show.
Roseanne was canceled. It isn’t the only sitcom tackling politics and the working class.

Ivanka Trump gets six new Chinese trademarks a week or so after Trump announced that he would help 'save' ZTE (a Chinese company that has been seen as a national security threat). Especially interesting, given Trump's previous tweets about not doing any new "deals" during his administration.

Yeah, I must have heard discussion about those scenes on the witness stand but can't remember seeing them up on You Tube. It's a shame.

Many people might not know about this massacre but since I attended high school in the early 90s with a guy whose family fled during El Salvador's civil war, I am familiar with these brutal events that occurred during the Reagan administration.

Although the Clinton administration declassified many of the records, people in El Salvador believe that declassifying more records may give more information about who in the Salvadoran military's chain of command might be responsible for this massacre. After all, under Reagan, the U.S. trained the Salvadoran military and often funded them.
Like often is the case when military who commit heinous acts have ties to the U.S., the generals often get asylum in the U.S. as Gen. Garcia did in 1990.
I'm glad that the Obama administration decided to deport Gen. Garcia back to El Salvador though because now he may actually have to answer for his crimes.

Reading these pieces about how children have been ripped away from their families at the border reminds me of the history courses I took where I read pre-Civil War accounts of slave children being ripped away from their families and sold off.
People in the U.S. constantly talk about how that's all in the past and how America is not that kind of country anymore but I see the same brutal tactics being used nearly 200 years later.

The Valerie Harper and The Hogans analogy is not an accurate one, IMO.
While Valerie Harper may have had a reputation for being difficult, she was never known for having racist tirades. Her firing had to do with a salary dispute, not for spewing conspiracy theories and racist epithets.
Not comparable.
