I hope I didn’t miss it, but I would love to hear the rundown on the results of the race between Shontel Brown and Nina Turner from @marceline.

Didn’t her current show in the U.K. get about 10K viewers recently? From what I have read, both her show and Piers’ shows are faring pretty poorly.- The Politics Thread

In one of the articles, it said that Jerry verDorn contemplated becoming an English teacher. He would have made a wonderful English teacher.- The Tennis Thread
Everyone looks and plays like it's the end of the season. Maybe these pay cuts are getting players down. The only person who looks like he wants to be on court is Djokovic and I can't stand him so that's not enough reason for me to watch.- B&B: Bold from the beginning
Seriously, Deveney's eyes were closed after the car went off the embankment. TPTB obviously reshot scenes with Deveney's eyes open and intercut them with the previously shot scenes. I hate it when production takes the viewers for fools. Just terrible.- B&B: Bold from the beginning
IMO, the moment the original actress who played Beth Logan, Judith Baldwin was gone and the show decided to replace her with an actress that looked like her complete opposite, it was only a matter of time until the Logans would fade in terms of prominence. Storm and Katie never had much story to speak of and Donna's stories usually faded fast and as of when I had been watching, Donna is a plot point in the poorly written Deveney and Thorne story. The writing made the Logans unsustainable and it became especially clear once Judith Baldwin was no longer a part of the cast.- The Tennis Thread
Having said all this, y'all have to let me know tennis manages to get some if its swag back because it no longer has it.- The Tennis Thread
While I don’t believe in making prognostications over anyone’s career prospects (especially someone who is still a teenager), the idea that (as some were trying to assert) Coco would be the “next Serena” was always a long-shot at best. I have always said that she was just as likely, if not more to be like Amelie Mauresmo who didn’t win a major until her mid 20s or hey, Flavia Penetta who had a respectable career before winning her sole major title then retired. If Coco stays healthy, she can have a very good career, as it is her prospects as a doubles player has a lot more upside, especially if she chooses her partners wisely.- The Politics Thread
In terms of the quest to overturn Roe v Wade, anti-abortion advocates will probably look to use the same mechanism that they used to prop up slavery for centuries— state’s rights. I am surrounded by states that have decided over recent years to strengthen and enshrine abortion rights into state laws, but for a large number of states I know this is not the case.- The Politics Thread
Progressives, of AOC and Bernie “that’s not the reason” why the vote failed. Well, it’s likely at least part of the reason. The JFK8 union drive was so successful because it was compromised of current and former Amazon employees who had a personal connection and stake, not politicians looking for more camera time. Also, the majority of the workers at this S.I. are part time workers who might not see working at Amazon in the long term to be thinking about benefits, breaks and raises. At JFK8, those were full time employees who had expectations. ‘Having said all this, it was messy to have Bernie and AOC sidle into Staten Island (none of whom are their constituents nor have they shown any inclination that they want them there) the day before voting takes place. Just unfortunate. ‘In future, I hope the Amazon union has realized that they didn’t need Always On Camera nor Bernie. They were successful without them.- The Politics Thread
Having Bernie Sanders and AOC get in on this union drive initiative just before the vote was probably not the best of ideas.- The Politics Thread
It’s long past time for some folks to have that conversation with their meemaws and peepaws, imo.- Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rebooted as drama
When I say that Smith’s instincts as a producer are much stronger than his instincts as an actor, this is what I mean. https://shadowandact.com/bel-air-is-officially-peacocks-most-watched-series-8m-accounts-watched-season-1- The Politics Thread
Yet, I am seeing people try to blame Sotomayor or someone on her staff for the leak. Others are trying to throw Biden into the blame mix when his SCOTUS pick doesn’t even get in until the summer. When are people going to acknowledge the obvious answer that misogyny is what led us all to this place?- The Politics Thread
And all the Susie Sarandons and democracy dilettantes are now howling for the courts to be expanded and I would like to know what reality are these fools living in? There was a solution that would most likely have prevented all of this in 2016 but folks wanted to “fück around and find out”. Well, sadly, we’re finding out now, aren’t we?- The Politics Thread
Well damn, there are already reports emerging that SCOTUS has voted to overturn Roe v Wade (on a draft). This day.- B&B: Bold from the beginning
1989 seemed to be the year this show was intent on making damn near everyone look sleazy. The writing of the female characters is so reductive, I am not sure how people found this acceptable even back then. Pretty much every woman except for Stephanie and Sally are written to look as desperate as humanly possible. And you can tell Kristen won’t be long for the canvas. They have decided to give her the worst, least dignified dialogue of anyone, and with some of these female characters who are beyond desperate, that’s saying a whole lot. Were they mad at Teri Ann Linn for leaving or something? Are there any interviews with Teri Ann where she talks about her time on the show or when/how she leaves? I would be interested in hearing how her exit came about and how she felt about it. ‘The writing seems as if they just wanted Kristen off the canvas for the foreseeable future. By the way, I also think Dr. Moncrieff was a prototype for Dr. Taylor Hayes.- The Politics Thread
HRC is at the Met Gala and she looks very pretty. There is BTS video of how her dress was made and the significance of certain details like the embroidery. I am not sure how closely it hews to the theme but who cares? She looks fabulous.- The Tennis Thread
Venus is at the Met Gala but she looks like she may dip early. After the awards season, she seems to want to play things a bit casual. Serena’s not there. People are complaining that almost no one is sticking to the “theme”, but who cares? Lol.- Jerry VerDorn has passed away
Ah. Thanks for the clarification. A teeny bit before my viewing time.- Jerry VerDorn has passed away
I am not clear on whether Vanessa and Ross’ brief rekindled relationship ever overlapped with Trish and Ross’ romance though.
