  1. Thank you for that. It was fascinating to see all the aspects of the plane crash and its impact on Emmerdale (and on soaps in general) discussed so thoroughly. I remember when I watched it originally and it was indeed riveting. But now I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand it did apparently save Emmerdale from cancellation and death, but on the other hand it set it on a path that, to me anyway, has still led to it dying, only more slowly. And I don't at all agree with the idea that Emmerdale was boring before the plane crash. It had a very distinctive identity that set it apart from all the other soaps. I found it interesting that that was one of the things that attracted Phil Redmond to it, since the changes he started ultimately led to the extinction of that special identity and turned Emmerdale into just another generic soap. There's really no difference anymore between Coronation Street, EastEnders or Emmerdale. I may be in the minority, but I really miss the old Emmerdale Farm years, but at the same time I realize that had the show stayed that way it would probably no longer be on the air. So the big question then is, has it been worth it? For all the people that have jobs thanks to Emmerdale, most certainly, but for the show itself...? If the show had ended back then at the very least we would all have been spared the sight of some of television's most loathsome characters ever created.....
  2. Go ahead and call them deplorables. You've earned it.
  3. Wow, I'm speechless.....
  4. Today is the 70th anniversary of the first publication of one of the greatest books from the 20th century....
  5. I remember her as Reb Kean on "Prisoner: Cell Block H"
  6. Of course he will leave. After this story there's no chance of the character staying on. The only question is if he will leave alive....
  7. I didn't know that about Donna either, but I tried to think about who very very famous dead sibling could be, and she was the only one who fit. Apparently her sister sang with her. Mary Gaines Bernard
  8. I think there's a better chance of seeing pigs flying....
  9. Can some journalist please do their job, confront him with this and ask what he means exactly.
  10. Maybe Donna Summer's sister Mary Gaines Bernard? 🤔 But maybe she is too unknown? Everything else fits though. Donna was very famous, huge in the gay community and is sadly no longer with us.
  11. (Sorry for making everyone nauseous...)
