  1. No, I hadn't seen it, but thank you. Those were the days..... I can't believe those amateurs in the comments who don't remember every single one of those in the picture.... They are all ingrained in my memory.
  2. The 1990s were still very much watchable. The Dingles hadn't begun to monopolize the show the way they did later, and back then I still had hope that they would be written out sooner than later. Boy was I wrong! I used to wish that Kathy, and other beloved characters, would return to rescue the show, but now I've given up those ideas. The show is most likely beyond rescue by now, and will remain Dingle-infected to the bitter end....
  3. I've been binge-watching the first season of The Muppet Show (the original from the 1970s) and am about to start on season 2.
  4. Here are some statistics from Sweden for that idiot Bolsonaro to ponder: Confirmed Covid-19 cases: women: 51,5 % (6143 vs 5784 men) Treated in intensive care: women 25 % (241 vs 713 men) Deaths: women 43 % (517 vs 686 men)
  5. Are you by that implying that we do want to risk people's lives? Because if you do I find that rather insulting. We've chosen a different tactic than other countries have, and so far it has worked just as well as yours. You're reading way too much into what I wrote.
  6. Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine. I just felt I had to clear up some misunderstandings about the way we have handled this situation. I know that we seem to have a higher ratio of deaths in relation to confirmed cases than many other countries, but we probably have a larger amount of unconfirmed cases than most as well, since we haven't done any widespread testing so far. We have concentrated more on testing high-risk groups to ease the pressure on our health-care system. Instead we've been asked to stay at home from work when you experience even the slightest symptoms, and stay at home until you've been symptom-free for two whole days. Another aspect is that of the 870 deaths we've had reported so far, 88% have been 70 years or older, and the vast majority of those have other illnesses. So it is not entirely certain that Covid-19 was the cause of their deaths. They had the virus in their bodies when they died, but the actual cause of death could very well have been something else. But they are included in the statistics anyway.
  7. It's fascinating how we've become the object of such interest from the rest of the world.... But it feels like there are some misconceptions on how we've handled this pandemic here in Sweden. I get the feeling that some people think that we haven't done anything and are living as normal, and that is not completely true. Our government hasn't forbidden people from going outside, and most businesses are still open. Congregations of more than 50 people have been banned however, and high schools and universities have closed and the students work from home. There is also a ban on visiting retirement homes, since the elderly have shown themselves more vulnerable to this disease Apart from that we've mostly had recommendations, but most people here do listen to the experts. Many people are working from home, and social distancing have become the norm. Bars and restaurants have reduced the number of guests on their premises, and some shops have put a limit to how many customers they allow inside. All unnecessary travelling is also discouraged, and that seems to have been respected for the most part. The Easter holiday is usually a period with lots of travelling, but not this year. Only time will tell which method, ours or most other countries, have been more succesful. There will come a time, in the probably not so distant future, when other countries will have to relax their rules, and we'll see what happens then. I know that Norway, Denmark and Austria have started to relax their rules somewhat. You cannot keep an entire population under lock and key forever. The society will collapse if you do that. Will they have been able to stop the virus spreading, or will it start to spread again when people come out of their confinement....?
  8. I can agree with most of this, except the bolded part. Liv may not be a Dingle technically, but she is one of the worst, if not the worst, non-Dingle the show has ever had, so she will have to meet the same fate. Preferably in a most gruesome way...... 😈
  9. I just saw a clip with Trump, and apparently we're suffering really badly here in Sweden..... Strange.... He must have a very different definition of the word "suffering" than I do, and probably most everyone else who is actually living here in Sweden.
  10. Mmm, what a lovely idea.... Ok, if all the rest of them die I can possibly live with Tina surviving. At least she's had the decency to leave Emmerdale and never return....
  11. It's been a warm and sunny day here and if you didn't know it you'd never have guessed that something like Coronavirus/Covid-19 exists. With the possible exception that it's not as crowded as usual everything looks perfectly normal. The cafés have reduced the number of tables and chairs, but they're open for business, just like hair-dressers, bookstores, shops and restaurants. And despite this we're not seeing any major increase in deaths or infected. At 11:30 a.m today (Swedish time) we had 7206 confirmed infected and 477 deaths, and 418 of them were 70 years or older. Only 5 deaths were people under 50 years of age.
  12. I think he was even married to another man, and that was the deal-breaker for Kathy. Has it only been twenty years?! Feels like Charity and Cain have been polluting the air-waves much longer than that. I have no problem with Emma Atkins, but I cannot stand Charity (or any Dingle) and I have to admit that it's hard to read an article that is nothing but complimentary about her/them. Asked whether she's keen to stick with Emmerdale for the foreseeable future, Emma replied: "More than happy, yes!" Interesting that Suranne Jones auditioned for Charity. I wonder how the character would have turned out with her in the role.

  14. Happy 70th birthday Agnetha!
