  1. ^^ I read about that. Horrible stuff. As long as Russia and Putin has his back Lukashenko will keep doing these things.
  2. Talk about torrential rain today! I'm glad noone got injured during the women's 400m hurdles semifinals. It can't have been easy to compete under those circumstances. We had at least one fall, but how much that was caused by the rain or by fatigue is hard to say.
  3. Pat Rafter! He was my favourite back in the days when I followed tennis more closely. Such a wonderful serve-and-volley player of a kind we just don't see nowadays. Too bad that he never got to win Wimbledon before his shoulder injuries more or less forced him to retire. He should have won in 2001 instead of the boring serve-bot Ivanisevic.
  4. Of course he could very well be injured for real. He has played a lot of tennis recently, going all the way in both the French Open and Wimbledon. Playing so many matches on three different surfaces in a short time must be very tiresome for the body.
  5. He says he's injured.... In a way you could say it's worse to default a bronze match. That means you miss out on a medal completely. If you default a match for gold at least you get a silver.....
  6. ^^ No, he was supposed to play in a match for bronze in the mixed-doubles tournament.
  7. That's true! They are not as dominant as they have been. They're still too many, but some progress has been made....
  8. Triple Jamaica, and new Olympic record (10,61 for Elaine Thompson-Herah) in the women's 100 metres!
  9. 🕺 Gold and Silver in men's discus throw! 🇸🇪
  10. Djokovic misses medal after losing bronze match Tokyo Olympics: Novak Djokovic loses to Pablo Carreno Busta in bronze-medal match
  11. 👏 👍
  12. No Golden Slam for Djokovic. Alexander Zverev wins their semi-final at the Olympics 1-6, 6-3, 6-1. Tokyo Olympics: Alexander Zverev beats Novak Djokovic to reach final
  13. Emmerdale has released spoilers for their autumn storylines, and they include: A psychopath on the loose Postnatal depression Alcoholism Online bullying Marital problems Financial struggle Autumn spoilers Sounds like must-see-tv, right? On top of that we already have a cancer story going on and a son just being exposed for poisoning his own mother..... I think they should seriously consider adding some more light and fun material. This all sounds too depressing and the world is depressing enough right now as it is.
  14. This performance by Tommy Körberg always gives me goosebumps. (Sissel on the other hand suffers a bit since the song is in the wrong key for her. She has a breathtakingly beautiful crystal-clear soprano voice normally) I went to see Chess when it was produced in Stockholm in 2002, with Tommy again as Anatoly, and Helen Sjöholm as Florence. This performance is from a concert though, not the stage production.
  15. I sure do. Benny was always a big fan of folk music, and after ABBA he collaborated with a group of Swedish folk musicians called Orsa Spelmän. They enjoyed it so much that they decided to start a band, which became Benny Anderssons Orkester. They invited other musicians, including Helen Sjöholm, the star of Benny's and Björn's musical "Kristina från Duvemåla" and she became their lead singer. Later Tommy Körberg, another big musical star here, joined as well. (He originated the role of Anatoly in "Chess" in London) The band started in 2001 and immediately became very popular in Sweden. Most of the musicians have other jobs, many in theatrical orchestras in Stockholm, and BAO (as it's called) is a sideproject for them. They usually come together during the summer and go on tour and attract huge crowds. So far they've released 10 albums and all but one have reached the top 5 in the Swedish charts, the one who missed peaked at #6. They've also had five #1s on the radio chart Svensktoppen, and one of their songs, "Du är min man" stayed on the chart for 278 weeks and spent 65 of those at #1. This is probably the most ABBA-like of the songs Benny and Björn (who writes the lyrics, but is otherwise not a member of the band) have written for BAO. And here with English lyrics.
