  1. jam6242, I've been looking for a media report myself but so far have turned up nothing. We Love Soaps, SOD's website, etc., so far nothing. Not that I don't believe Ms. Coppola, but you know what I mean.

I feel the same. Michael Logan from TV Guide said he's trying to get information.

  2. I'm looking for further confirmation. I found that the Charles Keating involved in the Savings and Loan scandal in the 80s died earlier this year so maybe there is some confusion. None of the soap media are reporting it.

  3. Make-up artist Dick Smith who did the make-up for Barnabas when he suddenly aged on the series and in "House of Dark Shadows" has died at age 92. That scene terrified me when I was a kid. Smith also did the make-up for "The Exorcist" and "The Godfather," among many others.

  4. I am fairly computer, so I don't know how to post a video, but if anyone can, there is a preview with the Reverend Richard Brewster on you tube. [i just punched in Reverend Richard Brewster Love of Life]. I think the actor is Robert Webber, a frequent guest star on crime dramas in the 70s. Am I right? Is RW playing Bambi's father?

Is this the promo? I don't believe this is Robert Webber. I've seen the actor in other things but can't think of his name.

  5. I'm sorry to hear about Michael Maitland. I remember him well on Dark Shadows. His character was a little terror. I'm just a few years younger and I remember that he was a bit of a teen heart throb and was featured in the teen magazines that were popular at the time.

  6. Yes, Nola was still pregnant in the "early months" clips. She started working for Quint around Sept./Oct. 1981 and had the baby in late Dec. so she wasn't pregnant for very long after she met him. I meant to say in my earlier post that Nola was pregnant when they were in San Francisco, not Hollywood.

  7. Nola had already had her baby when they were in London. She had her around New Year's Eve of 1981. It was while they were in London that we learned about Quint previously being engaged to Helena and about his rivalry with Silas Crocker. Quint and Nola took a trip to San Francisco when she was still pregnant. I think that's where she had the "Now, Voyager," fantasy.

Agree about the inconsistencies especially regarding Mrs. Renfield. I think Gracie just changed her opinions based on what Nola was telling her. I always enjoyed Helena too. They toyed with pairing her up with Justin for while. I loathed Rebecca though!

  9. Jam6242 - Thanks for posting all of those articles! I enjoyed reading them. I was surprised that the Peters family was so abundant. I remember Greg and Amanda fondly. I remember a episode of Days where they had Peter Brown do his famous fast gun draw routine from when he was in that western tv show. It was pretty cool.

You're welcome. Peter Brown was on Days longer than I realized too even though I was watching at the time. I read his autobiography recently and his heart didn't seem to be in acting on soaps no matter how long he was on them. He definitely preferred the westerns.

  10. Tom and Alice were great people but most of their children were messed up in some way. Tommy was probably the most well-adjusted. I think Addie had some regrets about her first marriage. Doug seemed exciting to her after being married to a stuffy banker, although the banker provided well for her. She seemed very snooty to me at first but Doug loosened her up. Before they got married she always called him "Mr. Williams" in sort of a sarcastic tone and then after they got married she would call him that in an affectionate manner. I wanted Doug and Julie together but I did like Doug and Addie too, and Doug genuinely loved her in the end.

  11. Ouch. How cold (to use the same tickets).

Yes, and Doug and Julie had gotten the tickets for each other the previous Christmas, lol. Julie had told Doug it was over that day when they argued about taking David with them to Italy (Doug didn't want to). She called him later to say she was sorry but it was too late, he'd married Addie. I remember Doug and Addie being shown on the plane and Julie was shown throwing things around her apartment. I was so furious with Addie for doing that to her daughter but I don't remember being mad at Doug. I suppose because he was a bit of a rascal at the time so his behavior didn't surprise me as much.

  12. Thanks so much for sharing these. I really wish I could see some of the material Denise, Bill, and Susan had in those years.

I would love to see it again. And I only got to see it when I was out of school (meaning elementary through high school) so I didn't see everything. I realize now how spoiled I was when I see the cast Days had when I first started watching (plus Bill Bell as the writer). By the way, I'm fairly certain that the picture of Julie in Doug's lap is from the episode that started out with Doug and Julie planning to elope to Portofino, Italy, after Julie divorced Scott, and ended with Doug accepting Addie's marriage proposal. Doug and Addie ended up using the plane tickets to Portofino.
