Interesting that Doug and Julie had children with other characters but not each other - their 'true loves'

Julie didn’t want a baby when they first got married.  They were finally talking about having one shortly before Maggie’s oven blew up on Julie.

Not a lot going on in this scene but it's from 1975, when Julie, pregnant with husband Bob Anderson's baby, moved in with Doug and Hope for a while.

For what it's worth, the website is just a preview right now.  It's supposed to be fully functional on this Thursday (Feb. 27).  Hoping it will work better at that time.  I've been told that Retro is aware of the buffering issue.

Side note: I swear that clip was longer when it was previously uploaded. Doug and Julie return from dinner and she talks about a waiter or maitre'd or something at dinner, maybe something to do with a slightly embarrassing moment she had. It was a cute moment between them before she puts on the song.

Yes, it was longer.  They had been to Sergio's (which later became the original Doug's Place) and he had sung "The Look of Love," to her there for the first time.  There was a brief glimpse of the restaurant scene in the montage shown for Bill's anniversary.

Bill and Susan talk about taping that first kiss here.

One of the first records I had as a child was the 45 of "Quentin's Theme."  "#1 at the Blue Whale," was on the B side.

I didn't find him particularly interesting.  The only memory that stands out is when he beat up Eric when he thought he had raped Susan.  You can see a bit of him here, starting around 2:36, from 1976.

@Brolden There would not have been an NCAA basketball pre-emption in 1956.  The tournament was held in March and the show premiered in April.

Such a contrast to Frances Reid's last appearances.

 

His 50th should be getting tons of publicity from NBC. I remember the doco from a few years back with Carl Reiner, Norman Lear, Betty White and others over 80 and thinking Bill should have been a part of that as he was still working regularly and had been a big part of 50's variety TV.

Another example of how daytime is ignored.

Days itself didn't promote it, let alone NBC.   Not even a tweet.

The website for The Doctors subscription service is up.  So far, it only has the 1967-1970 episodes that already aired on Retro TV.  The price is 2.99 per month, or 30.99 per year.  Guess it will be active starting February 27.

You're welcome!  It was interesting that they only taped ten days in advance back then.  The story re having Addie killed in an accident rather than from leukemia has changed over the years though.  Apparently, Patricia Barry had leaked the news of Addie's death from leukemia to a columnist friend of hers and the show received backlash from her fans.  Supposedly, Bill Bell had Addie killed instantly, with no death scene, to keep her from having time to do the same thing six months later.

@slick jonesI found an article from March 1991 that says he had just finished taping his AMC role.  The article also mentioned he had already been on Loving in a non-speaking role but I don’t know whether that was the same as the one you have listed.

Yes, I remember that she did now that you mentioned it.  Carrie somehow arranged for Eve to find Carrie's earring in Justin's bed and Eve told Jackie about it.  Jackie left town shortly after that.  I know Eve was around when Jackie's plane crashed, so Janet must have returned for a while.
